    Sheer perfection!!

    MariaLisa is a new to me author, and when I say new I mean very new. I have only read one other novel of hers and it was through that novel I became an instant fan.
    So you could only imagine my excitement when I was given the opportunity to read Hard Focus.
    It was a case of diving straight in and leaving the real world for just a little while, because I knew that MariaLisa had the ability to draw me in completely.

    Guys I am speechless. I had absolutely no clue where Hard Focus was going to take me, nor did I ever expect the emotional roller coaster that it took me on. It totally consumed me from beginning to end. The emotional pull I felt towards Connie, Audrey, Addy and Cole was consuming. These guys took my breath away. Strangers, but yet brought together by their pasts, brought together because of a monster that ruined them in the harshest of ways. It’s what nightmares are made of and to see it played out in this novel…..It broke me emotionally.
    But it was also beautiful to witness the strength, hope and love that shone through. Even though these guys were broken completely, they were still able to come through the other side surrounded by light and love.

    Subject matter, let me just touch on this briefly without giving anything away. As hard as some may possibly find it to read, I personally think that EVERYONE needs to read this. I had absolutely no idea that this subject was even a thing. I never realised that so many were faced with such situations and it breaks my heart that people are still having to face their nightmares head on in this day and age. I know how cryptic that sounds, but believe me when you read Hard Focus you will understand what I mean. The world needs to know that this is happening daily and people are suffering because of it. The world needs to know that some need protecting from the monsters that have tried to destroy them. The perpetrators need to stop being the victims and they also need to be punished for their crimes. I am hoping with all hope that in time that laws will be changed and victims will be protected.

    A beautifully written, powerful read that I can’t rate highly enough.
    This story will stay with me always.

    This is my first book by this author and there was just something about the synopsis that intrigued me. This was not quite what I was expecting but it was an intriguing page-turner. There were moments where I was on the edge of my seat. Moments were I held my breath. Moments were I found myself lost in thought.

    Connie has always thought of herself as a good judge of character. She was told to always trust her instincts, but what happens when you miss the signs? This book was more thought-provoking than I expected it to be. Connie is caught up in a twisted story that she was totally blind to. But no fault of her own she realizes that the person she thought she was with was really a stranger.

    This really isn't a romance book, while there is a budding romance found in the pages, this was more about the ways in which we can be blinded by what people want us to see. It is about always trusting your instincts and if your gut is telling you something seems off, it might be right. This book also brings to light a flawed system that we can only hope is changed in the future. It brought to light larger societal problems, then just a monster in disguise.

    This story was well written and certainly interesting. As I said, not quite what I was expecting but I think the surprise made me like it more. I like being taken off guard. There were some twists and turns and some really hair-raising scenes. I liked the way the story was woven and I didn't really put this down once I started it. As this was my first taste of this author, I certainly need to look into her other works.

    It seems weird to say I love this book given the whole story but I do. I don't want to giveaway to much of the story. I will say that I have always known that this Author was talented but the depth of her writing on this book is stupendous. The story is a hard to believe one except that this has happened in real life hence my tag line of the truth is stranger than fiction. The author handled the story with finesse, didn't cheapen or sensationalized this hard subject. This book has reaffirmed that this Author will continue to be a must read for me. Highly recommend

    Oh this book! I am at a loss for words on how to adequately describe things without giving spoilers! Suffice it to say, the author took a hard subject and then wove a story around it that is apparently all too familiar for many in our country. As pieces become evident, the heroine (Connie) begins to realize that all is not as she was led to believe.

    I hope all who read this check into the laws for their state/municipality and if the laws further hurt the victim, that they will work to being the change in this! Kudos ML, for a hard read that needed telling!

    This tender subject was written to educate us about the horrible circumstances too many women live with after they've been forced by their rapists to repeatedly deal with seeing them over child custody. The antiquated laws, most likely written by men who can't understand the horror of repeated exposure to those rapists, force women to relive their nightmares every time those criminals are allowed to be involved with them. Those rapists are criminals and their victims should never be forced into any type of contact with them. And the children should be protected from these criminals BY LAW, not forced into unwanted relationships. We are talking about little humans who haven't had any control over their lives an the abuses they may be experiencing. I would like legislation that PTOTECTS VICTIMS OF RAPE, not punishes them.

    This is a book to make one think. I can't say I enjoyed it because the subject matter was such that what it did was make my mind churn, stomach ache and heart crumble that anyone would have to live with this. I had no idea the laws were such that this was possible. But I do thank the author for taking the tough subject and shining a bright light on it to bring awareness to people and hopefully bring about a change, or at least a shift in people's mindset.
