The Haunting of Hillwood Farm Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.3 out of 5 stars 385 ratings

After tragedy strikes, Callie Sinclair is left with a gift she never wanted - the ability to communicate with ghosts. But when a desperate widow begs for her help, she reluctantly agrees to investigate the strange occurrences at Hillwood Farm. She quickly realizes she’s dealing with a dangerous presence beyond anything she’s ever experienced, and something else becomes equally clear - the only other living person in the house, Mrs. Turner’s handsome grandson, thinks she’s a scam artist. While she’d prefer to just ignore him, her heart beats a little faster every time he’s nearby.

Luke Turner doesn’t believe in spirits. He’s moved back to restore the family farm, but living on the property serves a dual purpose - he can watch out for his grandmother. He’s not happy about the sudden appearance of a self-described psychic, or his inexplicable attraction to her. His initial suspicions crumble as evidence points to an actual haunting, but he’s still determined not to fall for Callie - the past has taught him it’s best to avoid relationships.

As Callie is drawn deeper into the mystery, she becomes the target of a vengeful spirit, and Luke can no longer fight his feelings for her. Unable to resist their desire, passion ignites…even as the paranormal activity escalates to a final deadly confrontation.

Such a fun spooky story

Such a fun spooky story
Paranormal romance is a new genre for me and I’m so glad I gave it a try. I really enjoyed it! Grieving widow, Alice calls up Callie to help talk to the spirit that she believes to be in her house. Callie is able to communicate with ghosts, but she’s never dealt with a violent presence such as this. Alice’s grandson, Luke has been staying with her to help with the farm since her husband passed. When he meets Callie, he’s immediately skeptical and thinks she’s trying to scam his grandma out of money. He doesn’t believe in ghosts, after all. Luke does eventually come around and he and Callie fall for each other. The paranormal activity escalates and things just get more and more dangerous up until the very end. This was such a fun ghost story! There was plenty of darkness and history, but it was also super cozy. I loved getting Callie’s backstory. Even with such a dark past, she remained upbeat and brave. The chemistry between her and Luke was perfect. She’s this strong, confident woman and he is a protective and caring man. Their personalities were the perfect combo for romance. While this was a romance, there were plenty of spooky moments. It was pretty action packed actually. While I was able to figure out some things, there were other twists that really surprised me. All in all, it was a fun read! I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance or a fun mystery.

Sandwich, MA. Hillwood Farm (27 acres). Mrs. Alice Turner (73, grandmother) was at awe.
The yellow ceramic sugar bowl was spinning towards her.
She spilled her hot coffee on herself.
Was it some king of supernatural phenomenon power?
    Or maybe a ghost.
The sugar bowl started shaking again, flew off the kitchen counter & broke into a million pieces when it hit the floor.

Callie Sinclair (25, medium, clairvoyant) came to assess the situation.
Unexpected Luke Turner (27, Alice’s grandson) showed up at the house.
This time it was a horse shoe. It hit Callie & put quite a bruise on her.
Cynthia Turner (wife/mother), & Ryan Turner (younger brother) showed up.
Callie had to explain to them why she was there.
Luke invited Callie to go horseback riding.
She was almost late for her Pilates & Barre evening fitness classes 4 nights a week.
Luke, & Callie started sharing their life’s story with each other.
Callie considered maybe a Ouija board, séance, or exorcism in her next step at Hillwood Farm.
She was not sure she could convince a Catholic Priest.
Could there be a romance blooming for them?

Will Callie solve the ghost/spirit mystery?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written paranormal mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great paranormal mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Callie was in a tragic accident that left her with the ability to talk to ghosts. An ability she hated because she couldn't go anywhere or do anything without spirits wanting something. When a sweet older lady asks for her help, Callie agrees to try to help her. She doesn't bargain for her grandson who doesn't believe in her gift. As Callie and Luke navigate strange things happening and Luke begins to believe there is something there. Where the story takes you is someplace you don't see coming. It was a great read for the spooky season. I love Ms. Knights books and how they always have a love story wrapped up in spooky happenings.

Lindas Book Obsession Reviews "The Haunting of Hillwood Farm" by Kathryn Knight, Wicked Whale, 1/19

Kathyrn Knight, author of "The Haunting of Hillwood Farm has written an intense, captivating and suspenseful story. The Genres for this story are Paranormal, Romance, Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense and Fiction, The timeline for this unusual story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes the characters as complex, complicated, and quirky.

There are twists and turns. This spooky thriller reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer in "What Lies Beneath?" Mrs.Turner is a recent widow that has just buried her husband and is noticing strange things happening at Hillwood Farm, the old house she lives with her adult grandson Luke Turner. After more unusual activity, Mrs. Turner turns to Callie Sinclair for help.

Callie Sinclair is left with a gift of communicating with ghosts, after a tragedy. When she goes to the Turner home, she gets the feeling something is strange. Luke doesn't believe in ghosts at all and at first questions Callie's motives. He does become attracted to Callie.

When Callie leaves Hillwood Farm, and heads to her home, stronger and stranger things are occurring. Callie realizes that she is in grave danger unless this situation can be resolved.  I would highly recommend this edgy and intense chilling thriller for readers who enjoy paranormal reading.

I enjoyed this story, it is a spooking campfire story, with elements of romance and mystery with some paranormal mixed in. It is just long enough for the mystery to pull the reading in, but not so long that it drags on. I liked the basis of the story (if it was predictable at times). The characters were interesting and I very much enjoyed the heart of the story. It was a shorter read but perfect for those late nights by the campfire as the sun is setting. I could even see this story being made into a ghost story for a TV anthology.

The story is well written and I enjoyed the balance of mystery to facts as I liked learning alongside the main character. I would have liked a bit more of the ghost part of the story and a bit less of the romance; though I think it was fun to read a story that was a mix of the two. I don’t want to give anything away so I will be light on the details; I just think that if any reader is looking for a fun read with a bit of spook then this might be a satisfying read.

This book is excellent. Callie is helping Alive and her grandson Like out with a haunting on their farm. As she and Luke become closer, the ghostly spectre steps up its hauntings causing Callie to leave her flat for the farm.
An unexpected confession from his parents helps to shed light on the past and everything is sorted out at last.
A must read for all lovers of the supernatural.
