Head to Head: An Enemies-to-Lovers, Forced Proximity, MM Romance (Nerds vs Jocks) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 833 ratings

If these two don't kill each other, they might fall in love.

Rand hates Jax because he’s the laid-back, vegan-eating, tree-hugging, total-Zen-until-I-get-a-chance-to-screw-you president of Sigma Mu Tau, the nerdy fraternity that’s the sworn enemy of Rand’s house, Alpha Lambda Alpha. What a phony!

Jax hates Rand for being the privileged, rich-heir-to-an-oil-empire, environment-destroying, soul-sucking president of the ALA jocks—but mostly because Rand hated him first. Rand has sent nothing but hateful vibes his way since the day they met. What a douche!

The enemies have never had a single conversation that didn’t involve shouting—until Jax’s old Buick breaks down on a road trip and Rand plays reluctant rescuer. Jax is forced to sit on Rand’s dead cow seats. Rand learns chickens can enter the living room and that Jax’s beliefs are more than skin-deep. The bitter rivals embark on a quest to save a family member and discover that sometimes animosity is a mask for crazy-hot attraction. With this much face time, head-to-head might become heart-to-heart.

HEAD TO HEAD is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, opposites attract, searching for his sister, clashing cultures, MM romance—with a whole lot of fracking.

This has been such a great, fun, and thoughtful series. I had no doubts about it because it's Eli Easton and that's always going to be good, but now I've discovered a new author in Tara Lain which is awesome. It was fun attempting to pick out different writing styles and trying to guess who contributed what to the stories, though their writing goes together quite seamlessly. I love the whole opposites attract thing, and this series, and especially this book, did a great job of breaking stereotypes and showing the ways supposed opposites can complement each other. This has ended up being my favorite of the series. Jax and Rand were always interesting to me in the other books because of the amount of responsibility they both took for their frat brothers. It was interesting to see their point of view in this one and how many things weighed heavily on their shoulders and that they felt responsible for. I loved how Jax and Rand went from hate to support while getting to know each other. This series has not balked at addressing family difficulties and the fact that the people who love you the most can hurt you the most. This was just one facet, though along with tons of romance and sexual tension. Easton's books always have tons of depth and this was no exception.

The complete Nerds and Jocks series was good reading. I can’t help but laugh at the whole title of this book, but it was very well written by Easton and Lain. I enjoyed “Head to Head: An Enemies-to-Lovers, Forced Proximity, MM Romance (Nerds and Jocks)”.

The book was written in Dual-Perspective First Person from the points of view of both Rand and Jax. DPFP worked well. The plot was interesting though sort of formulaic (the bad guys were business tycoons while the good guys were environmentalists). I liked both main characters. While there was a fair amount of conflict, it wasn’t overwhelming.

Readers of the first two books in this series will want to read Head to Head. It is a stand alone book, but I was glad I read the others beforehand. Recommended reading for people who enjoy this genre.

This series to date has shown us a spectrum of opposites falling for each other. Rand and Jax have been at each others throats throughout. Rand is the wealthy, attractive, smart and athletic leader of the ALA fraternity. Jax is smart, vegan, attractive in a hipster groove and the leader of the SMT fraternity house. When fate forces them together they have to talk and find that they aren’t all that different at all. This is a sweet love story that left my heart all squishy.

Finally got to see why Rand and Jax disliked each other. I was enjoying their banter and huge differences with each other. Jax was a vegan environmentalist who enjoyed all that life had to offer and came from a huge family but he wasn't annoying with his beliefs. Then we had Rand who was a rich their who clung to everything his father said and struggled with finding his own identity. We finally see both Rand and Jax break away from their views of each other and themselves and let friendship and love blossom and succeed.

The third book in the series has enemies Jax and Rand pushed together through circumstance, which allows them to actually get to know each other a little bit and drop some of their pre-conceived notions.

Maybe I just have issues with the enemies-to-lovers trope or I’m the kind to hold a grudge, but to flip a switch from so much raw animosity and negativity to insta-love is difficult to take. It was never fully believable to me. These two are just too different and their only connection seems to be that they both like the environment and they find each other hot.

It was difficult for me to get on board with their love story and the billionaire father angle is so overused that it was a bit boring. Rand was portrayed so differently in the previous books that his personality never rang true to me. Of course, everything tied up nicely in a neat little bow, but it was a bit too Pollyanna for my taste.

After the first couple of pages, there was really no doubt about where it would end, but the path it took to get there was pretty delightful. If you enjoyed any of the predecessor stories, you will enjoy wrapping things up with this one. A fun fantasy romp. I've enjoyed Tara Lain's storytelling ever since "Knight Of Ocean Avenue."

This book 3 in the Nerds vs Jocks series is, in my opinion, the best so far. Jax and Rand's story is again part of the bet between the fraternities but it goes afar. It is about expectations, family, friends, relationships and how our path is ours to walk through. In the middle of all the drama, a sweet love story between 2 enemies made this captivating plot even better. So wonderful!!

All three books were great and well written. This last book is the best. It got us away from the university life and into the real world. I found in each book that the two writers fit well together, each taking on a character and writing.

I am sure you could read each book as a stand alone but then you would miss out on the beautiful tapestry that is being woven by the two writers. Seriously, read it in the right order and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, opposites attract MM romance. The third book in the series, an easy to read page-turner with lots of twists in the story. Rand is president of Alpha Lambda Sigma and Jax is president of Sigma Nu Tau, the guys have never had a conversation that wasn't an argument and their fraternities had been enemies/ bitter rivals the whole time they had been there. But an unexpected road trip together forces them to spend time together one on one.
