About the author

Timothy Warren lives in the Atlanta suburbs with his husband and their pets. When he is not writing, he is writing in his head... which often leads to strange looks from his spouse. He loves writing about things that make him smile—the chemistry between men, in particular. Sex plays a big part in these relations, but love wins out more so with his enjoyment of telling these stories... as in life.
"I like to write about men being men and falling in love with men. And I love a happy ending."
A lot of Tim's writing comes from life experience. He lived in the metro DC/Baltimore for ten years where he met his husband. His first series "Tales of the Circle" takes place there, in and around Dupont Circle. His second series, "Southern Comfort" takes place in his native Georgia, where he was born and lives now. Books in both series are conclusive, yet open-ended, allowing him to return whenever he wishes. All can be read as a standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2021This is such a great series. This one, Heart, is not my favorite (that was Secret, Demarco's story) but that certainly doesn't mean I didn't like it. Mikey and George were such a great couple, mostly due to Mikey's personality (although I liked George too). It took me a little while to realize what the author was doing with the terrible dates but it all came together in the end, which was very satisfactory. I had a bit of trouble with the character of May, I dislike pushy people immensely. I especially hated her deciding how long George was allowed to grieve. That is a very personal choice and her insistence he date was cruel coming from a "friend" who should have supported his decisions. I was very happy to see Tyler and Alec and Demarco and Jack in this story and the wonderful scene near the end. I know there is a novella with Ralph yet but I get the impression this series will be over after that. Makes me very sad. The author writes so well and his characters are rich and full of life. I also love that the Circle and the surrounding locations are pointed out. I've never been there but it's still very interesting. I enjoyed this world very much.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2021I really like that this M/M romance is written by a man. Having lived in DuPont Circle (Washington, DC neighborhood) in the 1990s, I find it fun to read about a place that I loved. I’ve read all the books in the series and the first was the best. This one was fun and utterly predictable. Sort of a summer beach read. Characters from previous books in the series make cameo appearances, which is nicely done.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2022Gregarious, singing, Mailman “Mikey” feels a connection with Restaurant Owner George after meeting him while on his delivery route. This is a sweet, optimistic tale where the underdog’s dreams come true. Although I’m not quite sold on the love connection between the MCs; the storyline is a winner. Mikey is an interesting character all on his own. He’s over-the-top outgoing and one-on-one shy, he also has a child-like demeanor. George is patient and sweet. All in all, this is a feel-good tale! - Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2022This was a wonderful story with great characters. There was plenty of humor and a lot of love. George and Mikey are such a sweet couple. They both help each other to grow and move forward. It's awesome to see the characters from the previous books in this series return to this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Heart is the third book in the Tales of the Circle series. Knowledge of the previous books is not necessary but it would enhance the reading experience. I came into this book without any idea about the other characters or this series in general. Reading this book does not make one feel as if there is something missing in the story.
This story is a really sweet romance. A very light read during a lazy day, sunny day while sipping some cold drink and nibbling on some light snack.
The story revolves between George Patras, a chef and a widower who has just started his path to embracing life again and Michelangelo Napolitano, a sweet, cheerful and vivacious bear of man. Mikey had terrible luck with his previous boyfriends while George who is still mourning his husband is very reluctant to open up and try the dating scene. When these two people met, it seems like fate has decided that they were meant for each other. It isn't insta-love though they have some really good chemistry going on between them. Being a constant in each other's life has helped their friendship grow strong.
There were moments where I as the reader wanted to just bash the characters' head together for not figuring things out sooner but those are few and far in between.
I did have a whiplash though when the friendship between George and Mikey took a more romantic turn, but then they also avoided what was between them, tried dating others before finally finding their happy ever after. In some ways those felt surreal and unreal but the way these two were written and the supporting cast made up for that. The characters for me are the center piece of this story and they are loveable.
I'd still recommend this book despite the issues that I mentioned as it still is a good story with very endearing characters.
This is a 4 stars for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2022Instant fan of this author's books. This series provides a keen insight to gay life in Washington, DC. The characters are believable. The writing is crisp and well-paced. HEART is my favorite in the series because of its sweet characters. So much joy in "watching" the two main characters fall in love. A singing, dancing mailman? Who would have thought? Only downfall is that the setting in a restaurant and the description of all the wonderful dishes kept me longing for a snack.
Hope Timothy Warren continues the series!
