His eliXXir (Men of New York Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 42 ratings

Trey Winters had always been a user. So arrogant and self-centered. Being co-owner of eliXXir, one of the highest profile clubs in Hell’s Kitchen meant he never failed to attract the hottest men around and toss them aside after one encounter. Trey had a life most would envy. One he reveled in, until a mystery man crossed his path one Valentine’s Day, complicating matters both in and outside the bedroom.

He didn’t want to want him.
Didn’t want to need him.
But fate, it would seem, had other ideas.

Noah Middleton craved to express himself the only way he knew how. Reach his full potential, chronic illness be damned. Accepting a place at a prestigious New York dance academy might have made his goal so close he could taste it, but after admitting to his best friend he’d been unable to stop thinking about the beautiful stranger he’d met on his last visit, said friend took it upon himself to play Cupid.

The man was irresistible.
A temptation like no other.
And for Noah, that was the scariest part of all.

    *ARC Review*

This is book 2 in the Men of New York series and features Noah, a diabetic dancer who has just moved from L.A. on a scholarship to a prestigious dance school, and Trey a club owner, who has never been with the same man twice. They first meet when Noah is visiting his best friend and touring his new school. They go out to the club his friends boyfriend co-owns. While there Noah, in a mask for the masquerade party, meets Trey, and they hook up. Later on Noah knows full well who Trey is but Trey is not sure who the man was that blew his mind that night. If you enjoy mutual pinning, with neither of them wanting to admit they have feelings for the other, and then add in the meddling friends and family, then this is the book for you.

Neither Trey nor Noah want to admit their feelings. Trey, because he refuses to ever let anyone close, and because he can’t get the one man out of his head from months before. And Noah, because he knows how Trey is and that Trey has no idea they have already been together before. When Noahs best friend and Trey’s cousin decided to get them together to admit what is happening, Trey realizes who Noah is. They decide the best thing to do is get each other out of their system. But when does that ever have the intended result.

It all backfires and they both spiral. Trey because he does not know how to deal with being in love, and Noah because he is grieving after being rejected. When Noah decides he is going to be reckless and has a diabetic scare it forces Trey to acknowledge what they are to each other. There were a lot of times i just wanted to scream at Trey to open his eyes, and pull his head out of his ass and see what was in front of him. But they got there in the end.

I didn't read the first book of this series so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a good grumpy/sunshine kind of story. I did have a few issues here and there but I really enjoyed it in the end. I may have to go back and read book one.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

This book is very well written, but I feel like the story was rushed and the characters didn’t have enough time to “fall in love”. It felt very manufactured to me, and I would have liked a long story arch.

Opposites DO attract, and Trey and Noah are perfect proof. Grumpy, anti-commitment Trey Winters is a user, and owning the hottest all-male dance club in NYC supplies him with an endless stream of willing partners. When he comes up behind Noah Middleton on the dance floor during the club's Valentine's Day leather and mask masquerade night, Trey literally has no idea what he's up against. Trey thinks he'll just seduce the guy up to his office, get what he wants, and scuttle Noah off like all the others. Welp. Even without knowing the masked man's identity - or maybe because of it - there's something about the sexy hot-mouthed dancer that just won't let go.

Sweet, talented Noah certainly isn't looking to tangle his life in Trey's sticky web, but he can't seem to get that one-"night"-stand out of his head - and six months later, through mutual friends, he's gone to work for the guy to pay his way through his dance program. Trey doesn't recognize Noah, and though something about Noah intrigues him, Trey has a strict rule against getting involved with his employees. The unresolved tension builds to a fever pitch between these two, but Noah is not going to let Trey have a hold over his life without giving all of himself in return. It's a fabulous push and pull between the two men as they struggle to master their own emotions and each other. The dialogue sings, whether they're fighting or trying not to!

I was already a huge fan of L.J. Harris before I picked up the ARC of His eliXXir, so I was very excited to read book 2 of her Men of NY series - and this story exceeded my expectations. You will fall in love with these two (if I'm honest, I probably love Noah more, but that's okay). Here's hoping we'll get a Men of NY #3

His Elixxir is a case of opposites attract, Trey the grumpy sourpuss and Noah the sweet cinnamon roll. After a one night stand in which their chemistry is off the charts, Noah ends up working for Trey. Trey has a rule against getting involved with employees, but for Noah he has to make an exception. Super steamy read!

This was a great book but the main characters went through a lot to get their happy ever after. I love the premise of an untamable playboy paired with a serial monogamist. It makes for an angst yet exciting dynamic. These two ended up so well suited for one another. I would suggest being alone when you read the sheet scorching love scenes. A fine addition to this series.

This is the story of Trey and Noah. It is the 2nd book in the Men of New York series. Please read the trigger warnings. Very entertaining story. I loved Noah. It is written well. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. Definitely recommended

I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily

I have a particular fondness for stories where the guy who is determinedly a one night and then move on type runs into that one man he can't forget. Here, Trey and Noah meet at a masquerade party at Trey's club eliXXir and both are inordinately affected by what they assume will be their one encounter. They don't count on some serious matchmaking by their mutual friends, however, who spend a great deal of time concocting plots to get these two together. It takes a good while before they admit what anyone and everyone else can see, but there's plenty of steam and an HEA to look forward to. Enjoyed the two main characters and the plot of this one immensely.

5.0 out of 5 stars So worth the wait
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 11, 2023
I've been waiting a long time for this story, and it was so worth it.
Trey is a hook-up kind of guy, and as the owner of eliXXir he has plenty of men to choose from.
Noah is a dancer and that's his total focus, it has to be.
One kiss at the club's Valentine's masked party and both men have a new fixation.
The dynamic between the MC's was a perfect mix of will they/won't they. But with meddling friends there was only one way this was going to end. With Fireworks!
The subject of Noah's condition was handled well, written with sensitivity and understanding.
I can't wait for the next one, please don't take so long.
