His Tempting Love (Cuffs and Spurs Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 408 ratings

Cora Roberts has a plan: move to a new town and make a better life for herself and her son. As a single mom, she’s not looking for a relationship of any kind. But then she never expected to have the sexy Garrett offer her a night of uninhibited pleasure with no strings attached.

Garrett Brooks never expected Cora’s surrender to his touch to be so sweet – or tempt him to want more than just a single night with her. But as he pursues a deeper relationship with Cora, a threat from his past emerges.

Will Garrett be able to tempt Cora with his love, or will outside forces tear them apart?

Publisher’s Note: This steamy romance contains elements of power exchange. While it’s the fifth book in the Cuffs & Spurs series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

Anya is a bestselling and award-winning author published in multiple fiction genres. She also writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance under the name Maggie Mae Gallagher. The fifth book in the Cuff and Spurs saga will read as a stand-alone. While the BDSM club, Cuffs, and Spurs will have a role in the story, it is more around the lives of several key people that work or plays in the club, like owner Spencer, his cousin, Cora, who waitresses there, some with Matt who bartends, and then Garrett Brooks.

Cora Roberts, a widow, has left Seattle and moved back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with her three-year-old son, Milo. She loved living here, and her relationship with Spencer was more like siblings than cousins. Spencer is supportive of her and even had helped her out with a place to live and a job at Cuffs and Spurs as a waitress. He thinks the world of her son, and even pitches in and babysits Milo for her.

Garrett Brooks moved to Jackson Hole after his stint in the Army and deployment to Iraq. He served with Spencer, and they have a close bond as former soldiers and friends. Garrett left his family’s fortune in the hotel business where he was being groomed to take over and has instead branched out on his own with a resort that stays booked year round. His relationship with his family was damaged when he was finished with college over a woman, Gail, that he was involved with since he was eighteen. She was twenty years older than him, and his mother’s friend. The relationship ended and caused a rift in his family.

The plot will have Cora and Garrett meeting at Cuffs and Spurs as she is working. There is an instant connection between them but something she tries to avoid. Garrett is persistent and even talks her into scening with him in a private room when her shift is over. What a shock when she just leaves him behind and flees the club. But if that isn’t bad enough, guess who shows up at his resort and wants to speak to him—Gail, and it isn’t a friendly visit.

The relationship between Cora and Garrett is rocky at first but seems to smooth out. He is shocked when he learns she is a mother but sticks with her when her child isn’t well. Not everyone is going to be happy about them getting together and makes it known. Is Garrett looking for a good time, or is he developing feelings for Cora, and her son, Milo?

“Cora was a puzzle. An erotic, confusing puzzle, and one he wanted to examine more closely, uncover what made her tick and discover the reason behind the shadows in her eyes that she tried to hide. It had been an awfully long time since he’d been this interesting in a woman.”

Cora is cautious; this isn’t just about her anymore, she must do what is best for Milo, for them. She hasn’t been with a man since the death of Jeff, and she doesn’t want to let Milo get his heart broken either. Being with Garrett didn’t just scratch a three-year itch, it made her want more.

“The one-night stand who kept on surprising her. He made it hard—hard for her to say no to him. Did she want more with him, a chance to develop a real relationship with him? Yes. But she was terrified. She’d lost everything once, and it had left her drowning, struggling against a tsunami of doubt and grief.”

I love the chemistry between Garrett and Cora as they enter a relationship. He craves her, but it is deeper, and that scares him. He hasn’t wanted to give so much of himself to a woman since Gail shattered him over a decade ago. His feelings for Milo is precious, not something he ever envisioned for himself, but that little boy got under his skin and into his heart, just like his mother.

“That’s it, sweetheart. Surrender. Give me all of you.”

With secret phone calls and questionable excuses leaves Cora having doubts, she will investigate and what she sees will break her heart. Maybe it is time to leave Wyoming and move to Arizona to be close to her parents. Has she been lied to again, has her trust been destroyed? Why did she have to fall in love again?

The story has mystery, with deception, blackmail, and romantic suspense. The story has explicit sex scenes, an introduction into a BDSM relationship, with scenes at a BDSM club, along with some mild bondage. It is about trust and honesty and moving forward.

Cora and Milo move to Jackson to be close to her cousin Spencer, who gives her a job at his club - one night Garrett comes into the club and just has to have her - one crazy ex-girlfriend and a sting operation later - will they be able to work things out or will it be a bust that leaves them alone.

I have read every single book in the Dungeon Fantasy Club Series, the Pleasure Island Series and the Cuff and Spurs Series, they are all interconnected, and I have to say this one is in my top 5 favorites. I feel like Goldilocks trying to find the right fit and finally I found it in His Tempting Love. There is just the right amount of character building, world building, story building and of course steamy scenes. It is impossible to not fall in love with Garrett. How can you not adore a man that instantly folds a 3 year old child into things because he knows to have a relationship with the Mom means he is having a relationship with both of them. He treats Milo with respect, buys things like a car seat for his truck to keep things easier on Cora and to acknowledge Milo as an important consideration. I can't imagine any single mother not falling heels over head in love with him. He is the perfect man, just like Goldilocks saying the chair, porridge and bed are just right, so is Garrett. Love this book, love this series! There is not a single way that you can find the Cuffs and Spurs series as anything other than "just right".

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Five swoon-worthy blazing stars. Garret and Cora nearly set my Kindle on fire and the storyline had me hooked from start to finish. What’s not to love about a dirty talking cowboy who has a group of friends that would make any red-blooded woman drop to her knees. Great read and so glad I have the entire series on my reader!

A beautifully written story with some mystery and some beautiful emotional love. The characters are so compatible and the chemistry and sex between them is awesome. I highly recommend reading this book

Great story and loved the sex scenes as always. Only irk was towards the end big lie that she wasn't let in on the sting cause nobody but the cops and the h were to know yet others were let in on it just not the heroine. And of course she forgives him with out making him work for it. But still a wonderful book and I'll be buying much more from this author

This is a pretty good story about a single mom struggling to give her son everything with the help of her cousin. Then one of her cousin's friends falls for her and her son. Of course his ex a conniving witch that requires a top secret sting to bring her down. I enjoyed this story it has a bit of drama with excitement and humor you get when ever there is a child involved.

Good. But a bit unreasonable to make a firefighter promise not to do anything risky when his job involves risks. Was he supposed to stand outside a burning building and say to his colleagues “I’ll pass on this one because I promised my wife I wouldn’t take risks”?? And despite claiming “I trusted you” she clearly didn’t trust Garrett or Spencer.
