4.5 STARS Shayne is working in a matchmaking company under her bitchy boss, Val. One night she meets Nate, a younger guy than her, but they seem to have a love-hate relationship, since for some reason he makes her feisty everytime they chat. At the same time, a famous actor comes at her company and reveals something to her. When things go wrong, she decides to back up for him and things become more complicated. But what happens when at the same time she gets closer to Nate and she can't reveal the actor's secret or their agreement? Can't a guy give a compliment? I'd prefer the orgasm. Singular? Plural. Multiples. A really fun, refreshing read with many sexy and funny moments. Brooke Blaine has given us, once again, really enjoyable characters, storylines as well as dialogues. I had such a fun while reading this rom/com! :) What I liked about this one, was that I could relate with the heroine. She's a tall clutz that can't walk on heels! That screams Sophie, you guys! :P Also, it's been a common case in my life where I should speak and instead I stay silent. Where I try to fix a mess and make a bigger one instead, just because I wanted to help. Where I put up with bitches instead of slapping them. So there were moments where I fell frustrated, but I could also understand, because I've been there. I also fell in love with Nate. Like seriously, the guy was book boyfriend material and this has happened to me before on Licked. Brooke has the talent to provide you with males that you will swoon over and females that you want to high five and shake booties with. That scene at the office... Just hot damn!! And then when the suspenders were handsy.. *whistles* I can't wait to read P.I.T.A and on that note I have to say that pita in greek means pie. Just a trivial just in case :P Also, so much mystery around Quinn's job!! I'm sure in the end it will be something that none of us expects, but I'm super intrigued. Last but not least, can I pray and hope for an m/m book?? There's someone single in this book ready to mingle and I fully support a book that will be saying his story! ;)

    HOOKER!!

    Omg this book, this story, this writing! I can't rave about this book enough! I knew Brooke Blaine was a talented writer, but she has surpassed even what I KNEW she was capable of. Her writing draws you in and holds you in that place that you need to be in when you're deep in reading bliss. This book is PERFECT ROMCOM. PERFECT! When I think about some of my favorite romcom movies, for example: How to lose a guy in ten days, Bridget Jones, My best friend’s wedding. THESE are movies! MOVIES. And this is a BOOK! A BOOK! Which in my opinion needs to be a movie dammit! I wish I knew some movie producers, because if I did, damn I'd be a rich contributor. Btw, is dacking a real thing?? (Read the book)

    The girls are BACK!! Shayne, Ryleigh, Paige and the ever elusive, Quinn. This group of women makes me happy and proud to be a woman! The support they have for each other is not only endearing, but super empowering! And no, do not think this is a male sludge-fest book because it is most definitely NOT. Quite the opposite actually. They just support one another in every aspect in life, whether it is job related, family related, and the most coveted of them all, LOVE. These women are a huge part of this series, and you will be so happy to learn about each of them.

    Shayne is one of my favorite chicks ever! She's Australian and quirky and adorably clumsy. She rambles when she's nervous and she sticks her foot in her mouth more times than she does food. She's also extremely strong and sweet and surprisingly shy. I love her so much! And she's also a professional matchmaker with a super inappropriate boss/bitch combo that would make anyone hurl.

    Then we have Nate. Ohhhhh Nate. Ohhhhhhh Nate. I could just hum-drum about this guy all day long. He's perfect. I mean, really he's just everything. He's a Jordan almond, he's a cashew when you're trying to diet, and he’s buttered popcorn in a movie theater. He's a stick of butter on ANYTHING. And he wants our tall clumsy Aussie sooooo badly. Sooooooo badly. Come on Shayne! Let the butter in!!

    This book has everything you want! Not only is it hilariously funny. I mean, here are a few funny things to wet your curiosity:

    Brooke has a way of writing this great dry-wit and then magically turning it into comedic satire. THIS is an amazing feat in itself. Normally someone just writes funny, or witty, or dry-witty. But the difference that Brooke Blaine brings is everything! She combo-funnied this up! And that’s not even a thing, but she did it! She's a little word wizard I tell you!! If you want a book that will crack you up, warm your heart, and sex you up, all at the same time, Hooker is that book! There are some scenes in this book that had me saying OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! And those moments were because I was in complete awe from what I was reading in terms of classic romcom greatness! I can’t emphasize this enough. READ THIS BOOK.

    I didn’t like Hooker. I know the four and a half stars may make you think otherwise, but I spent more than half the book asking myself –

    Am I missing something here?

    Is this chick really this silly?

    Why…why…why is she doing this? NO job is worth that much sacrifice.

    Why does Nate keep going back for more?

    I gritted my teeth, mumbled a few expletives and carried on, hoping and praying I’d GET IT soon.

    Brooke Blaine has just convinced me that she is a master in her trade. I nearly wrote this book off and called it a day a few times, but I’m so glad I stuck with it. By the end it all made sense. The struggles Shayne lived through needed to be witnessed by us to see her epiphany, awakening…Aha, moment. While we may not agree with her sacrifices and decisions, we come to realise that she honestly thought she was doing the right thing. I went from lacking a connection and disliking Shayne to realising that we’re all a little like her at some times in our lives. A lack of confidence, hesitation and reluctance to take risks and not seeing the beauty in ourselves are all things we suffer once or twice. Was I frustrated with her (and myself) for not having more confidence? BLOODY HELL…YES!! Did I want her (me) to start hearing what her friends kept repeating over and over and over again? Yep!! Did I want her to put love ahead of everything? I’m a romance reader, so, of course, the answer is YESSSSSS!!!

    Hooker led me on a path of discovery. It made me look at myself and assess how much could change in my life? Am I not taking opportunities because of the risks involved? Will love get put on a back burner because I think something else is more important? Should I start listening to the compliments I receive instead of thinking they’re feeling sorry for me? Hooker was a great example of the happiness that can be achieved when you take a bit of a risk, listen to people you trust and put your loved ones before careers.

    I'm absolutely addicted to this series and I LOVE these women and the men that come into their lives. I cannot wait for P.I.T.A.

    This series has easily become one of my favorites! This group of best friends and their antics has me laughing out loud. I just loved Licked the 1st book in the LA Liaisons series and couldn't wait to get my hands on the 2nd book Hooker! Shayne who we met in the first book Licked as one of Riley's best friends who basically runs Hook Line and Sinker while her good for nothing boss comes on to all the clients. As great as Shayne is at match making for other people she is not so good at matching herself. She isn't interested in finding a special someone. As she is dragged into an outing with her girls she is not at all thrilled to be pant-less on a train. As her eyes lock with the devastatingly handsome Nate she wishes she had her pants! Embarrassed enough as they head to the bar Shayne who happens to be a bit of a klutz, falls and scrapes her knee which would not have happened obviously if she had had her pants. As she drowns out her sorrows and embarrassment with much needed drinks she finds herself face to face with the gorgeous Nate. She is unnerved with the attraction she has for this "college boy" but it seems he ends up in the same place as her over and over and will not take no for an answer. Pick up Hooker to find out how this feel good romance pans out....will they end up together or does something get in the way of this seemingly fated couple. Brooke has a way of captivating you from the start! And these covers! order the actually book! I plan to add these to my collection asap!

    So this is book two in the L.A. Liasions series and yes it's a standalone, new couple but to get a better feel and connection with the characters I'd recommend reading book one even if I can't cause I'm a wimp ha! This is Shayne's book who is a matchmaker and has an amazing group of friends. She meets Nate who is a little younger than her but so persistent and... Dimples!

    "And the dimples. Oh help me, the dimples were back."

    Shayne is seriously hilarious, especially when she gets nervous and babbles and she's such a klutz! She is one of my favourite characters I've read she's got a huge heart, she works hard for people (when I say people I mean absolute f-..ing class A c. U. Next tuesdays*c..t kicks Val*) who don't deserve it and she's kind of insecure at times. She's a very lovable character. Relatable.

    "I looked around the table at my friends in amazement. Each of them was successful, fiercely independent, strong-willed, generous, and so freakin' talented in their own way, and it was then that I realized... I was one of them. Like, really one of them."

    And then we have Nate! Nate is THE book boyfriend that gives you heart eyes because seriously. He's just... *heart eyes* So many books feature alphas and I love books with alphas because they're badass and it's fun and exciting and Nate isn't anything like that and I'm so serious right now, they don't really come close to Nate. He is the swooniest!. He's sweet, sexy, nerdy and he's also persistent, funny, charming and genuine. Omg I am actually in love with him haha! For. Real. I seriously am. I think this might be a problem. I'll just be over here sighing with heart eyes and wondering why Brooke didn't spell my name right, I mean I guess, Jade and Shayne are similar?
    I have just come to the conclusion Nate is basically a younger Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones's Diary *sighhhhhh*

    ... 'His eyes were tender as he leaned in to kiss me again, softly this time, and it was then that I felt my world spin on its axis. Nothing would be the same after tonight. That thought rang true somewhere deep and closed off, and I was utterly unprepared.'

    And that 'apology' scene at the end? Cute as ever. Probably my favourite scene in the book.

    I loved this. Brooke does funny so easily and naturally. The angst was done really well too. I loved so much about this book, I loved the relationship with Nate (sigh) and Shayne and how it was progressed and how they both grew with it and into it. One of my favourite things was the friendships and the girls in general. I loved them all, Paige had me laughing my ass off, Ryleigh not really catching on to what was really happening was comical and I'm freaking intrigued by Quinn. But what I admired was Brooke showing the different sides of women, she showed the nasty, catty, cu..ty and downright evil side to women because there are women like that but she also showed the supportive and amazing side too. This book really is hard not to love. Brooke's writing flows together beautifully, effortlessly and while this is a romcom, when the emotion needed to be there it was! I know Brooke hasn't written MM before but... Omg I need her to because the character in this book? I neeeeeddddd.

    Like I said I loved this book. I truly did. It made me happy and made me fall in love which is what reading is all about for me. The only thing, which is on me, is that I wished I had read book one because then I would've connected with the characters right from the start! I can't wait for the next one!

    I enjoyed the first book, Licked by Brooke Blaine so much. It had loads of humor and quirky characters and I really adored the story. So when I picked up the second book entitled Hooker, I said no way this is about a lady of the night. One of Ryleigh's (our heroine in Licked) bestfriends, earned herself her own story. This is about Aussie-born, Shayne who hooks up people in L.A. She's a gifted matchmaker and has been in Cruella de Val's employ for many, many years. She's paired around 150 couples in her career but she's never found her own match. Well, not until the annual pantless train ride where she caught the eye of one hot, Nate Ryan. Shayne was personally asked by movie star, Ace Locke to be his matchmaker and things started to go belly up for her. She's a girl with a big heart and very loyal to her clients so when Ace needed her most, she did all she could to help him save his rep, much to her and Nate's relationship. Due to the non-disclosure agreement she signed, she could not tell a soul what the deal was, not even her friends till one of them simply figured out her secret. I did not like the fact that Shayne allowed herself to be talked down to by her villain boss but towards the end, she does me proud. Shayne really deserved her own HEA. And yes, karma's a bitch.

    I like Brooke Blaine's writing because it's not too intense, there's so much humor is injected in every page and there was a lot of conflict as well that made this book a page-turner. I appreciate the research that Ms. Blaine put in to make Shayne an authentic Aussie girl who hailed from Wollongong. The Aussie slang used in this book were accurate. I loved the friendship between the girls. This is the best girl squad one can ever have. I cannot wait for the installment in the series. I would love to read about Paige and Quinn.

    Hooker is book 2 in the Liaisons series. Shayne probably has the biggest obstacles in personal and work life out of the girls featured in this series. Her story gives you all the emotions from laughing at the sheer craziness to the gut punch in the feels at her situation. Shayne and Nate have the most interesting story because of this.

    But as always Brooke sucks you in with the drama of it all, along with the banter and sarcasm.

    I had mixed feelings about Hooker. I did like it a lot. I mean, it had Ace from the PresLocke series in it for one. I liked the characters but Shayne annoyed me at times and I wanted to shake some sense into her!!!!! Thankfully she did the right thing in the end and I mentally cheered for her!! Great series.
