I've been running for years - haunted by a past soaked in blood
and driven by vengeance I refuse to abandon.
Then
he walks into my life.
The man they call
Hunter.

He steals my focus.
Makes me crave things I shouldn't want.
It's impossible not to become consumed by him.

Until I learn the truth.

I fell for a criminal.
A murderer.
A man from the underworld whose name is more of a description.
And I'm the one he was sent to hunt.

Author note - Hunter is a standalone possessive mafia romance featuring a morally grey anti-hero, a vengeance-fueled heroine, and a love story built on obsession, betrayal, and brutal chemistry. Expect touch-her-and-die energy, enemies-to-lovers tension, and red flags you'll want to ignore.

Luck seems to be following me around of late since Summers is another author I’ve discovered. And the funny thing about Hunter was I had no intentions of reviewing it…life and all that gets in the way, doesn’t it? But I’ve found five minutes to jot down my thoughts so put the kettle on, and we'll have a chat about the book and its author with a cuppa! Summer’s writing affected me. Taking into consideration I’d made mental notes, not written ones, I do hope I don’t forget what I wanted to tell you without of course, letting on. Can’t have that, now can we?

    “Who are you?”
    “I’ve already told you.”
“You haven’t told me a damn thing.”
“Then maybe it’s none of your business.”

The plot is gritty, innovative and overflowing with suspense. Add a sassy kickass heroine and a drop-dead gorgeous hero into the mix and you’ve got a book that’s sheer dynamite! I know it sounds like a movie pitch but just wow; I felt as if I were a bystander watching action-packed scenes unravel and get this, from word go! Its narrative is fast paced, making the entire novel a piece of cake to read in one sitting. Yeap, once you start, I doubt you’ll be able to stop. And what impressed me more was how quickly and easily I connected to the protagonists.

“Well…” “It was nice meeting you.”
“I assure you, the pleasure was all mine.”

She has a job to do. It’s personal; it’s complicated and no-one will stop her because she is in control, she’s prepared and she’s good, I mean, very good! Obviously, it’s not as easy as it sounds. Summers conveys the smallest part of the plot to the reader early on, but what her canny narrative tack would do is keep me on tenterhooks throughout. Furthermore, I wouldn’t learn the female character’s real name (nope, I’m not going to spill the beans) until well after discovering her goal. A necessary goal I might add.

“Revenge is such a pretty picture.”

It wasn’t even a pick up line. A simple comment between a man and a woman and I flipping well loved it. Rubbing my hands together with glee, I couldn’t wait for more. The chemistry literally steamed up my Kindle…oops, maybe not lol, but honestly… nothing you think will happen, happens and vise versa! And then the banter between them! Please…perfect, just bloody perfect. Short staccato sentences, sarcasm at its best and the author’s descriptive writing and I was over the moon!

“Do I look like the type of woman to make mistakes?”
“No. But there’s always a first, and I have a special feeling I’m going to be a special kind of mistake.”

He has a job to do that’s been on his agenda for a long, long time. Ah, but even when I tried to read between the lines, I couldn’t quite suss him out. Where had he come from, what really was his game and where was he going were just a few questions I asked myself. Like his adversary, he needs information. Does she, or he for that matter, have what they’re looking for? Hmm…problem is neither of them can afford to mix business with pleasure since the last thing they need are distractions. Both have to keep on track, keep secrets hidden. So, this track I was led down had me wondering who would come out of this deadly cat and mouse game unscathed but while I was doing this, I still found time to swoon over him!

“I think I’ve discovered a new favorite game. Teasing you about this chick is fun as hell.”
“Teasing me will get you killed.”

Written in present tense from a his and hers point of view, I can honestly say I loved Summers’ way with words. The excellent sentence, paragraph and chapter structure, character development, the storyline’s flow and faultless editing has to be mentioned. To give you some examples of how awe-inspiring her writing is; I was sniffling halfway into the read, three quarters in and I was groaning, but when I got to the end, ooh my, I simply didn’t want to put the book down. Summers holding back the most juicy part I have to commend and totally worth waiting for, although there’s a scorching hot scenario which made its appearance sooner than expected. This is without a doubt ‘a sit on the edge of your seat’ thriller…and I couldn’t have wished for more. Oneclick, you won’t regret it! Bravo Summers!

    “I won’t let you break.”
“You must be one tough guy to stop that from happening.”
“I can be whatever you need me to be.”

The storyline, really kinda makes you, I think one thing and then another. Hunter and Emma or her real name is Sarah meet. Because she is out for revenge for her family. And she has spent ten years trying to find the guy who killed her family. She needs names and where to find him. But nobody yeah, is telling her anything. So she's kind of been going after low lives here and there who hurt women and children. She doesn't kill them, but she hurts them. Hunter comes across her because he needs information for this job. He is doing, but yeah, he falls for her. And for him, it's like instant, right where her she is treading in deep water, and she doesn't know which way is up anymore. As the story goes on, things come out, the past comes out.Hunter finds out who she really is.He's lied to her by omission, but it's still a lie in her book. And she just wants the rewritings that she has been dying for the past ten years. It's all kind of we wrapped around this whole mafia, lord, and yeah, things happen, and what he wants to have. She thinks she needs to leave and uh, after everything is done. Yeah, he gives her what she wants. But it's really not what she wants, so it's just kind of crazy. Still a good book? I would read the next one. Because like the characters are really weird, well written and defined, and the great.

Gotta be honest, Hunter scared me a little bit. But not nearly as much as Bishop (other book in this series). When he watches this woman, it does something inside him. He has to be near her, has to know why she is the way she is. Course some of his tactics were unconventional, a bit far-fetched and at one point you wonder why keep going? Steph is a hard nut to crack, and Hunter's up for the challenge. What a tangled web that's woven around them keeping you on the edge of what happens. Knowledge is spilled to the reader in stages, which is my favorite because you work things out as the characters do.
Great read, loved it, highly recommend.

    Hunter by Eden Summers

This latest offering by Eden Summers is certainly worthy of high praise.
The Blurb for this book is one of the best & I don't have to give away any of the storyline in this review for you to get an idea of what this story is about....that blurb says it all!!
From the first words of the prologue you get an overwhelming feeling of the danger & revenge that underpins the actions of Steph/Sarah as she seeks vengeance on her unsuspecting victims.
I love how the author has given us such a strong & worthy character such as Sarah and may I say how masterful this writing was that she could make the reader feel such compassion &  protectiveness for a flawed character such as our Heroine.
What can I say about Hunter other than that he is gorgeous, dangerous, deliciously sexy & uncharacteristically ready to defend his prey. This man is the understated subtle genius of this book.
Eden has very cleverly given us in Hunter, a story of intrigue, suspense & emotional heartbreak & teamed it with scorching sexual heat & passion that leaves the reader with a feeling of Wow!...just WOW!!!!
I loved this book....a definite 5stars for me.

Hunter is the first book in the Hunting Her series (by this new to me author) and I loved it. Hunter and Steph are great characters with some seriously hot chemistry going on between them. It’s a story of revenge that’s packed with intrigue, mystery, and suspense. I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to start Decker’s story!
