Huntress is a paranormal romance in Lilli Carlisle's Fated Mates series. Wolf shifter Rose found her mates when she defended her friend from hyena shifters and the hunters who wanted to kill her. The only problem is that Mason and Riker Porda are bear shifters. One particular family in the bear pack is not happy that their alpha and omega have mated a wolf shifter. When a challenge is issued, Rose must find the strength she has denied for so long in order to fight for her budding love for the two brothers. Not only must she defend her new pack, she must also meet the growing darkness that threatens their world. An ancient evil has re-emerged and Rose is one of the chosen warriors to once again beat the demons back.

The Fated Mates' series has larger than life characters and an even larger endgame. In ancient times shifters and humans united to defeat their common enemy and lock them back behind the veil separating the demons from the rest of the world. The demons are back and it is up to the women the goddesses have chosen and their mates to stop the demons from taking over. Rose's story is about being different and learning to be strong because of it. Rose is a troubled female who has suffered years of abuse and when she meets her mates she has to work through her vulnerabilities in order to win her happily ever after. Compassion was one of her biggest strengths and I really liked that she was rewarded for it in the end.

As the veil between good and evil starts tearing, the shifters are preparing for war while ancient goddesses are reincarnating which adds some wildly intriguing twists to this exhilarating world. In Huntress, Rose learns that the Alpha and Beta of the neighboring bear clan are her mates which turns her world upside down. But other changes are even more stunning to her existence which makes the emotional turbulence that Rose is facing as she tries to accept her new role even more chaotic. The romance between Rose and her bears is sweet and electrifying but there are some that refuse to accept a wolf as the Matriarch of their clan, which adds lots of thrills, excitement and surprising twist to this fast paced and smooth flowing plot with strong, bold characters that easily draw readers in and refuse to let go. While the story could be a little longer, it can be read as a standalone as each triad gets their beginning and the parts they will play in the of the overall story arc told but to really enjoy the books readers should read them in sequential order for better understanding of the good versus evil battle that is coming.

    This author sure knows how to bring us strong women characters who compliment the alpha males in their lives. They stand strong and spread love all while protecting those that they love. The author has built this wonderfully creative world in which these couples are able to thrive and beat the enemy. This book is one that I can see myself reading again and again.
