A world is doomed with apocalypse due to a dying sun. They find a Goldilocks planet that is inhabited and claim Eminent Domain over it. The inhabitants are not very receptive to the idea of being invaded. There are several twists, turns, a romance, and possibly a war to decide the doomed society and the established society's fate. Who wins, who loses? Will they find a way to peacefully live in coexistence? All of this is answered and more in this epic story of two societies clashing!

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

::An Intellectual Read::

This is book one of the series Imminent Domain. It is a very busy story with many different viewpoints and it takes you to different places. This typically requires the reader to fully engage in the storyline.

These views are woven together so it forms a well-defined plot line. A few subplots form and in the end,  the story is completed and very few questions are left unanswered. The stage is set for the other books in the series to follow without the reader being left hanging.

The style used will sometimes lead the reader into something that is not well-defined but will then answer all of the unknowns that were formed. This style sometimes requires a bit of patience to allow the intent to come around, as it can seem confusing, however, once the reader becomes accustomed to the style of the author, most find it refreshing that a story is told in such an unique fashion.

Sincerely,
NjbV

BIO:

My life has been unique by most standards. I was born on Halloween and delivered by a coroner (Dr David Baxter, Faulker County medical examiner 1968). They nicknamed me Thumper. To this day, most of my family and friends still call me Thumper.

At the age of five, I scored a ten-speed bicycle from my brothers. They couldn't get along and kept fighting over it. My mom gave it to me. I had to climb up on the edge of the front porch to get it started.

My family was quite large and we would cut wood during the winter to help supplement our income. I remember walking through subdivisions at the age of ten, alone, knocking on doors and asking if they would like to buy wood. I was Dad's top salesman. He would give us $5 if we sold a load.

In tenth grade, I lost my father to a horrible accident. He was literally ran over by a ready mix concrete truck.

In eleventh grade, at the age of eighteen, I purchased a new home and formed a rock and roll band. "Next Please" was the name of the band, and we played weekends and made a demo tape. I was offered two contracts, but they weren't quite what I wanted. I still hold the copyrights to several songs I wrote back during that time.

After graduating high school, I became a welder and went to trade school during the day for welding (paid training from my company) and college at night (Electrical).

I designed and built an adjustable concrete insert and patented it (pat #554 8 939 Utility Patent). I solely held full rights to the invention. I obtained a contract with a company named Meadow Steel in Santa Fe, (Tampa) Florida.

After I graduated college, I began to design machine controls. I have made my living doing this and industrial control repairs for the past twenty years. This line of work has allowed me to travel to Italy, Belgium, Holland, France, Canada, and various places all across the United States.

I married the woman of my dreams on January 1, 1991, and we have two daughters. We have been married ever since..

My hobbies include writing, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, and playing pool (billiards). I enjoy projects with woodwork, steel fabrication, and design work.

Sincerely,

NjbV

I really liked this book. Verne really puts you in there. He does a great job of setting the stage. I think back as if I had been there, or at least watched a movie. I look forward to the next one.

I don't as a rule read Science Fiction, but this was great. The author created a world and I entered right from page one and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
Verne brings the story to life and I was able to relate to the characters who are real and likeable.
    Loved the map.
The ship was a place you felt you could reach out and touch it was so real.
I am so looking for the next book. Fantastic read. I don't do spoilers, so I won't say anymore other than, a 'must read'.

A very unoriginal story that is recycle sci fi wrapped in some the most awkward writing I've read. This is as poorly written and edited as any book I've read - including a few that never published. But it had a decent sci fi at it heart story and it kept my interest to a degree. But a very PG and non religious story all off a sudden is filled inappropriate sexual and religious overtones that only hurts the story line. Plenty of asides that lead no where and plenty of things repeated showing sign of a lack of editing. I'd be By the end of the book the males come out often as sexist pigs and the woman just take it . Very white and very American centered, as if America was all white, for a book about the "world' ending. The last 3 pages took a book that the last 50 or so pages already turned south into a groaner of a ending. .

I won this book in a Goodreads Give-a-way. This book is different in that a planet of people are seeking a new home because their sun is dying. They find a planet but it already has a sentient population. The people from the doomed planet want to move their population there but the natives may have other ideas. Meanwhile on the home planet they are constructing ships for the move. This includes war ships as well as luxury liners to transport part of their population to the new planet. Everyone will not be able to go however so enormous shelters are being constructed to shield them from their fate. This book has a good story line and is a good read. It is written in a different style than I usually read but it is never the less interesting and I recommend it to all Science Fiction fans.

The plot idea was interesting. I got the parallels. The irony did come through. There were a few places where a proof reader needed to take a good look, but since that happens to the best, I paid it little attention.

I will be the first to say that I have read very little science fiction in my day, but I very much like the plot line of this book, Imminent Domain: Finding Goldilocks. The author thoroughly describes his settings and the science terms in his work. While I'm not up on the latest in the science field, the research seems solid and helpful to the storyline. Mr. Verne makes realistic connections between his characters and most of them are very likable. The plot is original and moves along well, and while the ending isn't a cliffhanger, there seems to be enough interest in what will happen next to write another book in the series.

This was an interesting Science type story. The writing was well done and well researched.
There was a touch of religion thrown in as the crew of the Parche 1 was looking for another
planet for the inhabitants to occupy. The writing in this book was a bit different than what I am used to so I found it a bit
difficult to get into. That was no fault of the author, it just took me awhile to adjust. I am
giving this story 3 and a half stars as it would have been nice to have a bit more character
background and structure. It is a decent story and I will be reading the next book to see how
it plays out. Thank you. I also want to thank Author Neal J.B. Verne for giving HeadTripping Books the chance to read and review this book!

This was my first SciFi book I have read in a while. This was a very complex book that really keeps you on the edge. Jake is a character that you will really like, he and his crew take you on an adventure to try and find the planet, Goldilocks, his home planet is on the verge of dying. Soon Jake finds out that the planet he thought would be easy to take over, is not going to as simple as he thought.
