4.3 out of 5 stars 390 ratings

From NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Josie Litton

“Sexy, thrilling and thought-provoking!”--Goodreads “Smart, well-written, smexy story!”--Goodreads

In an instant, he claimed her.

In a moment, both their lives changed forever.

In a time of madness, can their love survive?

When a brilliant Krinar diplomat with a well-earned reputation for ruthlessness rescues a young human female from a rampaging mob during the Great Panic that follows the arrival of the Krinar on Earth, he knows at once that she’s triggered something in him he’s never encountered before. Overwhelmed by a sense of possessiveness too powerful to be denied, Jarek surrenders to his darkest instincts and claims her as his own.

Having survived the deaths of her diplomat parents at the hands of terrorists when she was a child, Charlotte has always had to be gutsy and self-reliant. Determined to dedicate her life to working for peace, she’s willing to give the Krinar a chance to prove that they aren’t the monsters many people believe them to be. But she isn’t prepared for the overwhelming passion of her response to the alien who has claimed her. Together, they must confront both their feelings for each other and the forces that threaten to tear a world--and them--apart.

Can Jarek and Charlotte survive the pain of their own pasts amid the chaos of the present? Can they overcome all the odds and create a future together?

The Krinar stories are a spinoff from Krinar Chronicles by Anna Zaires. I enjoyed this story that is part of a larger project by an amazing group of authors. Each book reads as a stand-alone and together makes up a fascinating tale. The stories involved two species, humans from earth and Krinar from the planet Krina. The stories are full of angst, confusion, shock, eventually acceptance, and passion. The stories are sexually explicit of full of intense sex scenes between aliens and humans.

In the Krinar Diplomacy, we meet Jarek, a Counselor to Ambassador Arus, and Charlotte Hughes of the State Department in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of Diplomatic parents who was killed by a group of terrorist when she was a child. When Jarek wants her views on the invasion and how to best bring about peace, she is shocked but honored. “The best I could muster was primal instincts—be strong, have courage, don’t give up, hold onto hope.” To be told that he found her committed and her perspective valuable, gives her the courage to proceed.

The story takes place not long after the invasion of Krinar on earth, and there is pandemonium around the world. Charlotte is called into work at the State Department, but near the Krinar Embassy, she will be injured by rioting humans and rescued by Jaret. This will be the beginning of their relationship that quickly escalates. There is a great physical and sexual chemistry between the two of them as if time and space had destined them to be together.

“He lit me up, turned me on, made me ache and then he’d walked away. Was that some Krinar thing? Torture the earth girl? Or was it possible that he’d been as surprised as I was? “We were on opposite sides of a literally interstellar divide.”

Together, with the encouragement of the State Department’s Director Loomis, Charlotte will become part of a worldwide endeavor to convince the people of earth that the people are Krinar were not a danger to them. The Krinar may hold the winning hand, but they truly want peace. If those on earth chose something else, they would defend themselves, and in the end, the Krinar people are stronger.

“That went well. Jaret said.” “Did it? You just told them that everything they value—their careers, their status, their power—all of it can vanish in an instant if they don’t do what you want.” “You’re very good at getting your point across. I’ve never seen a roomful of powerful people so smacked in the face by reality.”

The relationship between Jarek and Charlotte have many heart-to-heart honest conversations. Both are fascinated with each others culture and customs. When they become intimate it is more than just sex, it is the beginning of a journey towards their future.

“Generally speaking, sex is a natural part of life for us—fun, recreational but nothing more serious than that unless it takes place within the context of a committed relationship.”

“My alien lover had stripped me of all defenses. I truly was his to do with as he chose. That realization should have been terrifying. Instead, all I could manage was a faint flicker of surprise at how utterly right it felt.”

“We had come so far so quickly yet all I could think of was the journey together that stretched out before us. A journey of two people and two worlds into a future that would take us all farther than we could ever have imagined.”

This was the first time I've read anything by this author and I was very surprised. I really enjoyed this novella. I loved the two main characters, Charlotte and Jarak. The character development flowed well and the chemistry between the two characters was intense! I also loved the exploration and the sense of wonder that Charlotte had at experiencing all of this technology for the first time. The only thing that I didn't care for was the ending. It felt rushed, and left some questions; however, it may be a setup for additional novellas. I really wish this was a longer book. All in all, I enjoyed this book a lot.

Aliens invaded Earth. It’s the Great Panic. Times are uncertain. Humans aren’t sure of the Krinar’s intentions. It’s a time during which diplomacy is of the upmost importance. A simple mistake such as being in the wrong place at the wrong time or coming to the attention of one of the most important Krinar in the diplomatic service could have dire consequences. But the enemy is not always on the opposite side. Sometimes, the enemy is one of our own and the war a ruthless exploitation, as Charlotte will discover when Jarek saves her from a rampaging mob. The instant spark between them soon burns out of control, complicating an already explosive situation. Witty, sassy, and strong, there’s nothing about Charlotte not to like. Jarek is the perfect diplomat, complimenting her in every way. Krinar Diplomacy is a fast-moving, sizzling story that gives a glimpse into the early days after the Invasion, something I’ve always been curious about. A definite winner!

Disclaimer: I've been a hardcore Josie Litton fan ever since I read His Lordship's Downfall: Part One. I like to think of Josie as the Helen Mirren of the literary erotica world—rolling her eyes fielding peen pics on FB from men half her age while splitting time in the snooty northeast between fundraisers, garden parties, grandbabies, and writing really clever, dirty, snarky, sexy, thought-provoking novels.

Oh, if only we all could've been blessed with a mom or a grandmother as bad*ss as Josie to teach us important life lessons!! (I'd take Helen Mirren as well.)

With Krinar Diplomacy, Josie delivers a smart, well-written, smexy story that showcases her writing skill, her knack for humor and story structure, and her ability to quickly engage readers with an intelligent, well-crafted story line. While there's a good deal of heat, this is more of a lighthearted romance, as is fitting for a shorter read.

    Nailed it, Josie!

Just enough action, sex, and temperance in the hero. I thoroughly enjoyed the calm, collected heroine whose witty commonsense got everything she needed and wanted.

I enjoyed this brief story of the time period about 6 weeks after the arrival of the Krinar and the panic. It fits nicely into the whole big picture of the occupation. This writer did a very good job with this world. It is a shame she couldn't develop a longer more in depth story for ys.

I loved this book! True to Krinar form we had a dominant, obsessive, but sweet Krinar helping Charlotte through the transition that follows the arrival of the Krinar on earth. I have always wanted to read about how it unfolded when the Krinar first arrived, and this book gave a great account of a humans perspective and a K's. It was also nice to see a heroine who was not immediately against the Krinar, and how that helped their relationship along. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great read!
