4.3 out of 5 stars 65 ratings

She can’t live with one more lie. He can’t tell the truth.

Harper Lindquist is convinced she’s found the answer to her financial prayers. Unless she pours cash into crumbling Solace Lake Lodge, she’ll lose her family’s legacy. Her would-be savior arrives in the middle of a Minnesota blizzard and she’s determined to prove to her reluctant, and trapped, financier the lodge is a sound investment. But Harper isn’t completely honest with him. And she has no idea the lake is hiding secrets of its own.

Ethan James is a liar, but his money is very real. He isn’t convinced a broken-down inn is a smart investment opportunity. But the more he understands Harper’s dreams and desires, the more he wants to be the man to make them come true. The trauma in both their pasts means neither can fully trust the other. They must find the courage to love, to trust, and to accept, or yesterday’s sorrows will keep them apart.

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.

The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

The first book in the Love at Solace Lake series a well written book that held my interest throughout. This series deals with the Lindquist sisters Harper, Scarlet and Maggie, this is Harper and Ethan James' story. Of two people keeping secrets from each other and that just might make it so they will lose each other. Read this book to find out how things turn out.

All Harper Lindquist wants is to find someone to help save her beloved family lodge. Ethan James wants someone to love him for himself. When they are thrown together by a Minnesota blizzard that turns a three hour meeting into a three day forced togetherness everything changes for them both. The descriptions of the lake and surrounding woods are so vivid you can smell the pines. The characters are skillfully built and all of them are hiding something. When will they trust one another enough to tell the truth? This is a slow burn and sensual story that will leave your heart warmed by the happy ever after.

The Linquist sisters were raised by their grandparents after their parents died on Solace Lake in what's ruled a murder-suicide. As they grew up, the three sisters grew apart. Two of them left pursuing their careers (marketing, and chef), only the oldest, Harper, stayed behind, having inherited the family Solace Lake Lodge in Northern Minnesota. However, with only her around, the lodge itself is falling apart. The only chance keep it running is for an infusion of capital, and the representative Ethan James. // Ethan James arrived just ahead of Minnesotan blizzard, and Harper is determined to show the handsome moneyman the lodge deserves to be saved and can be made profitable. Harper finds her attraction to the man irritating, but he's not aware that Ethan has secrets of his own... For Ethan James is a millionaire, pretending to be an employee in his own company. He's not sure an investment into this crumbling inn is worth it... However, Harper managed to convince him of her dreams... Neither can fully trust the other, but they must do so to achieve their goals in life... and love.

It's better than I expected. Both come with plenty of baggage. Harper was primarily weighed down by their parents' death, and Ethan was a down and out guy, whose GF ran away, THEN he won the lotto. Moreover, he started making investments with help from his siblings. The end was a bit protracted as Ethan managed to corral the other two sisters into joining the venture. The problem is I've seen this plot many times before. There wasn't too much of a twist.

Since this is book one 1 I wanted to leave my review here. This series is just unbelievable ! It draws you into every page! I was crying when they cried and laughing when they laughed! Truly a well written series! It actually brought back some of my growing up because I've been to those Minnesota towns. Thank you for a fantastic read!

For people who love a sweet love story with some angst thrown in this one is for you. Ethan and Harper meet in a business meeting. Harper is looking to save her family's Inn and Ethan is interested in investing. He's also a little bored. Both of them hide some things about themselves that come out later in the story. But mainly this story is about them finding love I found the story a bit predictable but it's a nice short story for a summer read and i enjoyed it.

I enjoyed Harper and Ethan's story a lot, enough that I'm anxious to get to the next sister. I want to get deeper into what drove their parents' actions years before the girls' stories, actions that made deep ripples in the peace of Solace Lake. The characters are full and rich and, most importantly, different from each other. Setting is always important to me, and Ms. Richards has done a great job with it here, putting me right in the snow in the woods. As a matter of fact, I'd like to sit in one of the cabins and look out at the lake while I'm writing some stories of my own.

I really enjoyed Harper and Ethan’s story! A sweet contemporary set in a beautiful small resort area. Add in the beginnings of a mystery and I’m hooked. I thoroughly enjoyed the rocky road these two took to find each other.
