Losers Weepers (The Jane Barnaby Adventures Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

Jane Barnaby had everything going her way: a prestigious internship at the Museum of Natural History, a fantastic Upper West Side sublet apartment, and helping plan her newly-engaged college friend's wedding.

Until a casual lunch with her friend’s fiancé set off alarm bells, and sent her digging into the rabbit hole that is his past.

When that rabbit hole leads Jane and her on-again, off-again boyfriend to the English countryside, uncovering secrets dating back to World War 2, searching for priceless art treasures looted by the Nazis, and fighting off the thieves who will kill to get those treasures for themselves, will they discover the truth, or lose their lives?

I really loved DiBenedetto's Dream Series booksDream Sequence: (J.J. DiBenedetto's Dream Series, books 1-3), but I'm enjoying the Jane Barnaby series even more! In this book, Jane and her maybe-maybe-not boyfriend, Mark, head to England when her college friend, Tishy, goes missing. Jane's concern is heightened because of Tishy's bizarre behavior at their last meeting. Jane and Mark follow the clues to find her friend and discover a conspiracy involving Nazi art, and it starts to look like Tishy might be involved.

This book was a fun, quick read. I enjoyed watching Jane and Mark's relationship develop and especially seeing each of their perspectives about what was happening. Jane is a very headstrong character (reminds me of me), and I love seeing her take the reins, even when it sometimes gets her into trouble. If you want a fun vicarious adventure through the British Isles, you'll definitely enjoy this book. Five wholehearted stars.

Losers Weepers, the second book in the Jane Barnaby series, is a hoot! The book is an entertaining and fun adventure that moves at a breakneck pace. Sure it's a little silly, but its a fun read that would make a good light movie (in case any producers are interested). The book works well independently, though having read the first book sets you up nicely as well.

Suitable for pretty much any audience. This would probably be a PG/ PG13 rating if it was a movie.

The narrator of the audiobooks is terrific and matches the mood of the books well.

I listened to this book as part of the audiobook box set which I received a complimentary copy of (though I also have the ebooks in my library). This is my honest and voluntary review.

Losers Weepers is a fantastic mystery adventure with great characters, lots of suspense, and a plot that will keep you guessing. I love Jane and her cleverness. I think of the classic British sleuths I read about and watched on tv growing up. Mixed with a bit of history and a romance, this book is perfect for anyone looking for a travel adventure with a fun protagonist that you will fall for immediately!

Losers Weepers (Jane Barnaby Adventures #2), my second read from author J.J. DiBenedetto, an author I'd wanted to read since acquiring his first book back in August of 2014, yet never getting around to it until now. Outstanding fiction, well-written with characters & a plot you can buy into with unexpected twists & turns. I look forward to Her Brother's Keeper: The Jane Barnaby Adventures, Book 3. Cait Frizzell's narration adds to the enjoyment of the book. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

First up the narration was good. We have one person doing both a male and a female voice. It was easy to tell when she switched between the characters and she did the necessary accents very well. She brought the emotions of the characters into the story which brought a nice depth.

The plot for this second story in the series was slower in getting started, but once they got to England the action never really stopped. It was fun trying to guess the motivations of the various characters and to discover that the author was able to surprise me with the unexpected outcomes.

Bottom line: Read/listen to this. You will not regret it.

Jane Barnaby is the friend all of us want to have--she's compulsive and dives head into situations but somehow has a way of getting herself out of the huge scrapes she seems to find herself in the middle of. I think that describes this book very well too. Like the first book, Jane is on her way into another big mystery, this time trying to find the hidden treasure stolen by the Nazis. This leads her and her on and off again boyfriend in and out of trouble, nonstop and leaves the reader almost breathless as page by page we're taken deeper into the story. It's like a mini Dan Brown book, but much easier to read and with more giggles along the way. A great book for both adults and teens. Not necessary to read book 1 first, but why wouldn't you? Jane is nonstop fun and adventure.

A really fun book to read! College friends who know each other so well they will go anywhere to help the other when they feel the need, good characterization,a mystery(well thought out ans intriguing), and humor as well. This book pulls you in and keeps you stuck until the end. I had not read Book 1 but I am buying it today.
I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
