4.4 out of 5 stars 199 ratings

It’s been eight years since Jesse Colter fled Marshall’s Creek, leaving behind eighteen-year-old Sarah Marshall, broken-hearted and devastated. Now a retired Navy SEAL, he’s back and he wants only one thing—Sarah Marshall, preferably bound, naked, and kneeling before him.
Sarah has never forgotten Jesse, the object of all her sexual fantasies since she was fifteen, as well as the star of nightly dreams that have become increasingly erotic over the years. So, when he suddenly reappears in her life, she warily agrees to let him introduce her to his world—the world of BDSM. When he also introduces her to his best friend, Adam Sinclair, Sarah faces the challenge of submitting to two powerful, Dominant men.
But, Sarah has an even bigger challenge. A stalker. Someone from her past, determined to destroy any chance she has at happiness. Can Adam and Jesse love and protect her? Or will her world explode in betrayal and violence that will destroy them all?

About the Author

AUTHOR BIO From fairies in the garden at age 9 to handcuffs in the boudoir at age 75, Julie's writing has run the gamut. In between she managed to graduate cum laude with a B.A. in French followed by a Master's Degree in Library Science. Having thus procured these two necessary but ultimately irrelevant pieces of paper, (Seriously. What can you do with a B.A. in French?) she launched a successful career as a children's librarian, followed by an even more successful, 30-year career as a professional storyteller and puppeteer. She published Kidstuff, an award-winning, monthly newsletter, as well as a book, Puppets, Poems and Songs, both major language arts resources for early childhood educators. At various points in her life, if asked what she would like to be, her answer would have been (in rough chronological order, since some of these lofty ambitions overlapped): a fairy, a princess, a ballerina, Nancy Drew, Cherry Ames, a paleontologist (until she realized that paleontologists spend much of their lives camping), Scarlett O'Hara, thin and beautiful, and an actress. Now, at age 75, her answer to that question would most likely be, "younger". Followed closely, of course by bestselling author. Oh, and a princess. Some dreams just never die.

Julie Shelton was born in Connecticut, and has lived in seventeen places in eight different states. Her first masterpiece was a play titled "Fairies In The Garden", a work that included music, ballet, magic wands and, of course, fairies. She and her sister acted it out in the dining room for their doting parents. She was six. And she's been writing ever since, including "Kidstuff", a monthly language arts newsletter for early childhood educators that won the prestigious 1982 EDPRESS Award, and "Puppets, Poems and Songs" a 288-page storytelling and puppetry resource for preschool and early elementary teachers.

Now she writes erotic romances with elements of BDSM and lots of scorching hot sex. Not a single fairy or magic wand in sight.

She is inspired by beautiful music (preferably classical, although movie soundtracks, folk music of the 60's, light rock and the rock ballads of the '80's are right up there), beautiful scenery, ballet, Medieval illuminated manuscripts and everything she's ever done, heard, read or seen. A blue gown worn by a minor female character in the movie "Becket" inspired a Medieval romance novel--she couldn't write it down fast enough. Written entirely on 3 x 5 index cards, (don't ask), it is still sitting in two shoe boxes on her closet shelf. As for the OTHER romance novel written on index cards--she dropped the boxes containing that one, spilling all the cards helter-skelter onto a rain-soaked driveway. She still has it, but is afraid to open the boxes and look. Who said writing is easy?

Julie Shelton also writes short, steamy romances under the name AJ Steele. Be sure to check out AJ Steele's Amazon Author Page!

Loving Sarah was my first book by Julie Shelton but it was so good that it definitely won't be my last. Loving Sarah had everything I could want in a romance book - a smart and sassy heroine, two hunky Doms, an intriguing storyline and hot BDSM sex.

Sarah had grown up in a wealthy family but without a lot of love. She first meets Jesse as a young girl when he rescues her from the top of a tree. Sarah falls in love with Jesse but their age gap keeps Jesse from getting involved with her. In addition, Jesse is from the wrong side of the tracks and her father doesn't approve. Jesse leaves town to become a Navy SEAL and when he returns home eight years later he is determined to win Sarah.

Jesse first introduces Sarah to BDSM which she embraces eagerly. Next he introduces her to his best friend Adam and the three embark on a ménage relationship. But Sarah has a stalker and it's up to her men to keep her safe.

Sarah is a fascinating character. On the outside she's a confident woman who is now a County Attorney. On the inside she's still the insecure little girl looking for love. I understood her motivations and her insecurities. It made sense that she would find inner strength in giving up control and submitting to both men.

Jesse and Adam are terrific examples of Doms. They are strong and confident and their woman is their number one concern. Who wouldn't want two sexy SEALS focusing their entire sexual prowess on them?

Speaking of the sex, there's a lot of steam in Loving Sarah. The sex scenes were highly erotic and left me panting. Ms. Shelton knows how to write BDSM and leave you wanting more.

In fact, all of the writing worked for me. The story flowed naturally and the dialogue was natural. I didn't feel that anything was forced and each character remained true to themselves.

Loving Sarah resolved some issues but let others unresolved. The good news is that means a second installment in this series. I can't wait to read more about Sarah, Jesse and Adam because I have really grown to care about these characters.

This was a pretty good book but I give it 4 stars with mixed feelings (which I can't go in to without major spoilers). 3.75 would be a more honest rating so I couldn't take it all the way down to 3.

I liked Sarah. She loved Jesse from a very young age and kept loving him right up to present time. She made a life for herself and did well professionally. She tried to move on in her personal life with no success and had come to the point of giving up on men because no one could replace Jesse.

I have to say Jesse was a real jerk when he was younger (he had their first 2 summers where he treated Sarah good and then became an idiot) and I had a real problem liking him at the beginning of the story. He was a jerk the first time her sees Sarah in present day too and that bout of relationship dumbassedness made it difficult to root for him. He did manage to redeem himself and I was able to like him more as the story progressed.

When Jesse left home 8 years ago, he joined the SEALs and met Adam who became his best friend. Adam and Jesse are like brothers and as Jesse tells Adam about Sarah, Adam falls in love with her too...sight unseen. Jesse and Adam are both Doms and have shared women before but just for the night, never long term.

Jesse manages to recover from his relationship dumbassedness and gets Sarah to give him a chance. Along the way he reveals to Adam that he knows Adam fell in love with her years ago and he wants to share Sarah with him. Fortunately for them Sarah fins herself attracted to Adam as well.

Overall I liked the trio and I enjoyed the story but probably wont feel the need to read it again.

This is a really outstanding book! The writing is unbelievable for a first time author. So much so that I am guessing this author is published already under another name. If I am wrong, then "Holy Moley"! The characters are oh so likable, with the men being totally alpha and loving. Not one bit of confusion as to how they are feeling. The heroine is easy to imagine as a BFF and aside from being a little naive (just a bit to allow for a fast paced romance novel) she is everything positive (strong with lots of common sense, quietly acknowledging and accepting what she wants)! You root for them all and always know the threat of not having a HEA is outside their threesome and not their relationship. This was so refreshing. The only change I personally would have liked, would be for all 3 characters to be a little older. Driving the need to keep reading the book was the growing intimacy of the relationship as layer upon layer built. Great sex scenes (!!) written with BDSM elements although I don't think BDSM is actually uttered in the book. The book length lent itself to the story unfolding logically and very paced but with lots and lots of heat. A great read and at this cost a great bargain.

I am always looking for a new good author and Julie Shelton does not disappointment. This is story about bringing three lovers together and helping the heroin fine her submissive self, the journey creates hot sex scene Great chemistry between the characters and they have depth. Sarah is strong independent female until her childhood love comes home. The male leads are retires Navy Seals, Jesse has known for years that he was in love with Sarah and just needs to go home and get her, but will being a Dom wreck everything. Jesse talked about sharing Sarah with good friend Adam. Adam thought Jesse would never share Sarah, lucky for readers he was wrong. I can not wait for the next book, hopefully there will more for the rest of the team.

I knew this book was about Doms and their submissives, and I liked all three main characters. At times, I wanted Sarah to get some back bone and walk away. Other times she was so strong I couldn't wait to read on-but that only made her more real. Well written, but uncomfortable at times.

But sometimes life doesn't go the way you want it to and all we can do it influence what we can, to hopefully end up when we are meant to be.

Jesse, Adam and Sarah have a truly great story to share....

Grab it and see for yourself!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hot, but too quick
Reviewed in Canada on July 1, 2018
I enjoyed this book, but I do agree with another reviewer, that the men raced through the entire intro to bdsm with Sarah. It was an almost 300 page book, so there was certainly room for going slower. Jesse starts off saying that her introduction to ménage with Adam was her choice when she was ready, but shortly thereafter says it is his and Adam’s choice, not hers. I also found it conflicting when Jesse says Sarah is her own person, other than in the bedroom and play room, but then dominates her almost continually everywhere, including in the house, in a restaurant and elsewhere. I was also confused that Sarah got caned for an error in judgement for disappointing her dom, however when they failed to keep Sarah safe, there were no consequences for the men. Remorse apparently is sufficient for Doms, but not for subs. The saving grace for me was the overalls loving relationship between the three, with a strong storyline.

Well not the usual kind of bdsm story I’m used to. Story had potential to be so much better and female lead was a clever woman who came over like a mindless idiot. Some aspects of the story left me cringing and also its part of a series. Won’t buy them.
