    I so loved this book. I loved the story each person had as well as how we all feel about our bodies. I love how it shows it is not what we have on the outside most of the time but how we believe in ourselves and our abilities. Having all walks of life in the story was giving something to everyone. Each time she was with each person it was a total turn on. Thanks for the story!

    This book packs a lot of ideas into a deceptively small space, using an intriguing framework. Six characters are applying for membership in a BDSM club, and to get in, they have to attend (and participate in) a series of orientation workshops administered by (of course) Madame Gretchen.

    The truly innovative part is the way Kayla structures that story. Gretchen sets the stage and winds things up at the end, but each class is seen through the eyes of one of the students. In the process, we get to see how each of those people became interested in joining the club, really getting a solid feeling for who they are as people. This isn't a sextet of slim young hardbodies, either - the grandmother is just as important as the twenty-something couple, despite the cocky alpha's attempts to steal the show. Imperfections are embraced and cherished, not mocked to provide entertainment or humiliation. That's absolutely wonderful in this age of airbrushed illusions of perfection. These are genuine, realistic people, warts and all.

    I do have to knock this book on two points. The minor one is the copyediting; there are several places where some punctuation could be added to good effect, and a handful of typos (such as "is" for "his") that are easy enough to decode in context. More significant is that a certain sex toy is used in a way that completely shattered my suspension of disbelief; its core function is exactly to prevent the quandary for which it was employed. I can't even write it off as one character playing mind games with hidden information; the physiology is simply wrong.

    Ultimately, those flaws did cost this otherwise five-star story a star. I still recommend MADAME GRETCHEN wholeheartedly as an exquisite peek into the world of kink. You won't look at your "everyday neighbors" the same way again.

    After reading Madame Gretchen by Kayla Lords, the first thing I had to do was take a cold shower because this was one of the sexiest, most erotic stories that I have ever read. Then as if writing such steamy sensual scenes wasn’t enough, Ms. Lords made the story so sweetly emotional that I felt it in my very soul.

    Madame Gretchen is a Domme at the most exclusive BDSM club in the area, The Iron Maiden. In order to receive your membership in the club, you must participate in her six week course designed to not only teach you about the BDSM lifestyle, but also to help you get in touch with your wants and needs. The class began with six students – a mix of Dominants, submissives and switches.

    With such a diverse group of characters, there was someone and something to relate to for every reader. As Madame Gretchen challenged each participant sexually, she challenged them emotionally. Watching each person overcome their fears and find their inner peace was actually inspirational and touched me deeply. I understand the fear of baring your body, I understand the fear of being judged and found lacking, and I understand the reality of self-doubt. Ms. Lords touched on each one in such a way as to help you conquer those fears just as the characters did.

    What is amazing is that Ms. Lord, despite the limitations of a novella, was able to create three-dimensional characters that I believed in completely. Each of the class participants was authentic and I found myself cheering them on in their quest to find happiness. The glimpses into their lives away from the class as well as their inner thoughts just pulled me further into the story until I was so intertwined in their lives that I was sad for the book to end.

    The story flowed so naturally that time flew by while I was reading. I am so glad that I read this book in private because I was so turned on by the time it ended. I enjoyed every part of this story and can only hope that Ms. Lords has more in store for Madame Gretchen and the Doms and subs of The Iron Maiden
