This. Was. Awesome! Not just friends to lovers but a rom-com plot using a fake marriage trope given a wonderful twist. Alec and Chase have been best friends since they were kids and thought their fake marriage would be a breeze. This was such an enjoyable read and I was enamored with the expected but less than typical direction the plot took. Humorous exchanges between the MC’s plus palpable UST and hot chemistry had me completely wrapped up in the fate of this couple.

Alec and Chase narrate alternate chapters and a minor subplot worked smoothly with the romance. I don’t think this trope can be written without a measure of non-communication. Both wallowed in indecision just long enough to give the narrative an edge but avoided needless drama. All I could think was “typical guys”! It felt very natural and left me feeling quite happy at the end, right along with our guys. Highly recommended!

It’s a fun fake marriage story. I liked that they both found what they were missing in each other. Although it’s a little hard for me to believe that, there was no thought whatsoever about them dating each other.

Funny, sexy, clever, well written. Very believable and likeable characters (main and secondary) living an everyday life with its real ups and downs, with no hidden agenda, over the top angst and pointless misunderstandings. The strong chemistry between the two friends-lovers is blossoming to true love in such a natural way that does not feel rushed or fake, despite the time period being only thirty days. A perfect balance between sex and romance, this is a story to bring a wide smile to your face and leave it there for the rest of the day and time and time again. Definitely one for me to read again and for you to buy!

While it was one of my fav tropes, fake marriage, it skipped my very unfavorite tropes that go with it which includes lies, secrets and a big misunderstanding. That doesn't mean this story didn't have tension and a small amount of angst. It did start a little slow for me and I wasn't clear for a short time about the sexual pref of chase, but that's prob just me. While Chase and Alex got to know each other I got to know them and I enjoyed their story and their steam and their HEA.

    >: Chase and Alec have been best friends for years. They get along great and agree that married is not the way to go, despite the fact that most of their friends are now married. When those friends challenge a drunken Chase to being married to Alec for a month, living together, sharing a bed, doing couple things like date night, they both think it’s an easy bet and can’t wait to see their friend Reid in a mankini, heels and a Bieber tattoo on his butt. Because obviously, Reid is going to lose this bet.
It is only when they actually start the living together process that they realize maybe this isn’t quite as easy as they think. They stay at Alec’s, who can’t stand someone always in his space, and Chase is starting to feel confused and can’t use his go to calming strategy – eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the bathtub. Chase begins to see how adult Alec really is – he has an actual first aid kit and not “…half a box of Transformers band-aids and some expired aspirin.”
The story is told in alternating first person point of view of Chase and Alec, so we get the thoughts of both. Both are confused about what’s going on, although I have to say that Alec really sabotages. I kept thinking – he is going to lose everything by his own cowardice. He has an amazing brother in Daniel, who gives him some really good tough love advice. There were a couple times I felt Chase was being a door mat and wanted him to get some spine.

But the two have been best friends forever and they are navigating some seriously uncharted territory here and I enjoyed that journey very much. As much at least as I enjoyed Daniel, a doctor, showing up to help out with his daughter’s hot pink medical bag in tow.
Sometimes when your world is being shaken upside down you just hang on and hope for the best. And sometimes, the best is exactly what you get, even if it takes a fake marriage to get you there.

This book was better than I thought it would be. One of my favorite's BF to lover. The bet that two best friends could not make it through a month in a fake marriage. Well, Chase and Alec showed their friends what they wanted to see and there was more going on behind the scene at home. So worth the read...I loved it! And would definitely re-read this book!

Best friends to fake married to lovers. I didn't know this was a take on the best friends to lovers trope that I would enjoy. The whole fake marriage thing is not something that usually works for me. There was a distinct lack of subterfuge and deceit that usually accompanies the fake marriage story line, which made this a winner for me.
If you have ever lived with someone, you know how sometimes you just need your damn space. The interactions between Chase and Alec, when confronted with their first stressful situations, felt like an accurate depiction of real life. Fake married or not, having someone else in your space all the time is a stressor. They reacted to it exactly like I would think most people would.
There wasn't a lot of angst and I enjoy a book that doesn't have some weird conflict or near death experience before the MCs realize what they feel for each other.
The forced proximity allows these two guys to figure out how to compromise and mesh their lives in a short period of time. What usually would take a couple months and months to figure out, took these friends 4 weeks because they were living in each other's back pockets.
Their sexual chemistry translated well to me and I thought it was a lovely, steamy read.
I also liked the friends in this book. Good sports who do not renege on a bet are always winners to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars amüsant, romantisch und sexy

4.0 out of 5 stars Marry your best friend

While this was a somewhat predictable book (of course they would fall for each other!) the end result did not diminish the joy of the journey that is taken by these two characters.

Alec and Chase get "married" on a drunken bet, having to survive faking it for a month and living together. These two are the last of their friend group to remain single and the differences are starting to grate. For Alec it has been a matter of not finding the right person; with a busy and fulfilling work life he has never found someone that matters more than keeping his business going means. For Chase it has been about the magic of the new; no one has ever kept his interest past being pursued and he sees marriage as settling and giving up. They think faking it together will be no problem given their long friendship but quickly find things are harder than they ever knew.

The growing pains in this were enjoyable. As Chase and Alec were long time best friends and both knew their own sexuality, this was more of a realization of the person they are always with. At first living together is rocky and difficult. They have a tough time letting someone else in their space and letting someone else into the more personal parts of their lives. This rang so true as it is always difficult figuring out how to live with someone, be it romantically or otherwise. They had to rely on their friendship and blaze new paths of communication to survive this sudden infringement of personal space. Knowing each other well helped, as did finding out how much they didn't know about each other. As the time together eventually led to more feelings and a desire to bridge the gap from friendship to more it was great to see how they figured it out and what it meant to each of them. Alec was finally finding someone who cared about his work but also made him want to step away from it sometimes. Chase was realizing that he was someone that could be good in a relationship, and marriage was not all settling and giving up. It was a sweet transition and a fun read.

Sweet with plenty of heat. I liked the man-child commitment-phobe mc because he did have a deeper side to him. I did feel sorry for him with how often his friends got at him just because he wasn't following their script. Low angst with a cute ending
