Master of Blackmoor Kindle Edition
But visitors are not welcome at Blackmoor Hall and she gets sent to the stables to shelter from the storm. She is jerked out of sound slumber by a snow-blasted horse bursting into the stall, practically trampling her beneath his slashing hooves.
Anthony Markham, the Duke of Blackmoor, has just returned home after six months of dissolute living in London. He is surly, sarcastic, enigmatic, and hostile. And the most sensuous man Danielle has ever met. The attraction between them is instantaneous, combustible…and forbidden. Though a descendant of French nobility, Danielle is still a mere governess and Anthony Markham is a Duke.
When the position at Esterly House falls through, she has nowhere to go and faces a bleak future. To her shock, it’s Anthony Markham who comes to her rescue, offering her a position as governess to his four-year-old son, Geoffrey. Against her better judgment, she accepts.
She soon discovers that the Master of Blackmoor is haunted by a dark and tragic past filled with lies, betrayal and death. Unfortunately, the past is not over. Evil stalks Blackmoor Hall. The danger is escalating and all the clues point to the Duke himself.
As the passion between Anthony and Danielle rages out of control, so does the peril they face. Will they solve this mystery in time? Or will it wind up destroying them both?

About the author

Julie Shelton was born in Connecticut, and has lived in seventeen places in eight different states. Her first masterpiece was a play titled "Fairies In The Garden", a work that included music, ballet, magic wands and, of course, fairies. She and her sister acted it out in the dining room for their doting parents. She was six. And she's been writing ever since, including "Kidstuff", a monthly language arts newsletter for early childhood educators that won the prestigious 1982 EDPRESS Award, and "Puppets, Poems and Songs" a 288-page storytelling and puppetry resource for preschool and early elementary teachers.
Now she writes erotic romances with elements of BDSM and lots of scorching hot sex. Not a single fairy or magic wand in sight.
She is inspired by beautiful music (preferably classical, although movie soundtracks, folk music of the 60's, light rock and the rock ballads of the '80's are right up there), beautiful scenery, ballet, Medieval illuminated manuscripts and everything she's ever done, heard, read or seen. A blue gown worn by a minor female character in the movie "Becket" inspired a Medieval romance novel--she couldn't write it down fast enough. Written entirely on 3 x 5 index cards, (don't ask), it is still sitting in two shoe boxes on her closet shelf. As for the OTHER romance novel written on index cards--she dropped the boxes containing that one, spilling all the cards helter-skelter onto a rain-soaked driveway. She still has it, but is afraid to open the boxes and look. Who said writing is easy?
Julie Shelton also writes short, steamy romances under the name AJ Steele. Be sure to check out AJ Steele's Amazon Author Page!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseCouldn’t put this read down. A young woman needing a job due to her professor father passing away. A broken Duke drinking and whoring to keep his pain at bay. They are brought together by a blizzard. Their attraction is instant but both fight it for different reasons. A toddler in need of love. A household in darkness due to death and mystery.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have been on a historical kick lately so I was excited to read this but with the added Gothic Romance and I was hooked. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I stayed up late into the night to finish this book on my phone as my kindle died and I had to know what was going to happen next. I definitely kept trying to figure out who was villain. Not once was I bored while reading this book. I am definitely going to be looking up the other books by Julie and devouring them.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't normally read books like this cause I love reading Scottish medieval books or anything that is 1800 and back. This book was great though. I hope you will think about writing more on this family.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI gave this book 3 stars because although the plot is quite entertaining and the characters are captivating, the raunchy sex in this book kind of ruined it for me. Although I enjoy steamy romance, this one was just a bit over the top. It made '50 Shades" look mild.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI so thoroughly enjoyed the story. I didn't want to put it down.
The characters were believable and the storyline moves along wonderfully.
I would have liked a bit more description of the steamy scenes, but I was still intrigued.
Thank you ms. Shelton.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2017Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis story was too drawn out. Figured out very early who the villan was and the unexpected return of a dead brother. The love scenes were tame. Very disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe chemistry between the hero and heroine was excellent. Sexual Congress happened later in the tale and that tame. Great support characters. Enjoyed the heroine's sassy humor. The story did drag in some parts. Overall agood read.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW BRILLIANT LOVED IT CAN .LOVE 💘 CONQUER ALL
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIf like me you read the synopsis of a book before buying it you have an idea of the storyline, So I won't repeat it. What will say is that the story is so much more, you want to keep the turning the pages I loved the characters, Anthony the Duke who was a twin and Danielle the governess, even Geoffrey the Dukes four year old son. Lots of characters in this story each has their story. This has it all, the Dukes estate and family have a curse on them and everything that can happen, happens
Adultery, murder, Explicit sex, cruelty, devil worship and sacrificing,
And love. LOVED THIS
