A Love Melody Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 25 ratings

Music brought them together. Success nearly tore them apart.

Valerie Fogarty’s career as a surgeon ended the day she lost her first patient, when guilt made it impossible for her to set foot in an operating room ever again. Even though her career is crumbling, she knows she can count on one constant in her life: her best friend, Ryan. Her life changed the day she met him as a teenager through a mutual love of jazz music, and their friendship has kept her going through the hardest times.

Ryan Wyler has dreamed of becoming a professional pianist ever since he was a kid listening to his grandpa’s Sinatra records. When a talent scout offers to turn him into a jazz star, he doesn’t need to think twice. Success is a double-edged sword, though, and being away from Valerie so much soon makes him question his choices.

When Ryan’s life hangs by a thread and they nearly lose it all, will they finally open their eyes and listen to their hearts? A heartwarming romance about the value of friendship, the power of dreams, and the unpredictability of love.

About the Author

Grace writes heartwarming stories set in Ireland or in small towns in the United States--two places where she'd love to live while writing full-time. She's also an avid reader who thinks daydreaming should be a paid profession and that the world would be a better place if bookworms ruled it.
Growing up as an only child, she spent all her free time with her nose stuck in books, enjoying the company of fictional friends while dreaming of becoming an author. Discovering books by Rosamunde Pilcher was the turning point in her life, and she decided to start writing down the stories that kept playing in her head, just for fun. After the first couple of stories, though, she found it impossible to stop--and she's been writing ever since.

Great read. A wonderful story of friendship blossoming into a relationship overflowing with love.

Awesome. Almost the way every romance should start rather than with lust. Friends and learn to like each other before moving ahead.

Ryan and Valerie have been friends for years. They are often teased by friends that they must be "more" than friends. This book spans several years and takes you on their journey from meeting to friendship to so much more. A really sweet romantic story with no sex scenes (so appreciate that). This one makes you believe in friendship and love. Can't wait to read book 2.

I've read several books written by Grace Roberts; she has done an excellent job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

    I loved the characters.

I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The first book in the Melody series and I want to read the next book. A well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Once I started reading I was not putting it down until I finished reading. Jazz star Ryan Wyler and Doctor Valerie Fogarty have been best friends for the last seventeen years being there for each other when things happened in their lifes. He was there when she gave up being a surgeon because she lost a patient but now that he needs he can she become the woman she was meant to be? I loved their story, and seeing their best friends Kevin and Karen’s story happen right along with theirs. This is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful love story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 8, 2014
It the current climate of stories where characters fall in love quickly (nothing wrong with that), this was a refreshing change with Ryan and Valerie starting out as platonic friends. They are best friends and inseperable. Even the distance between Ireland and Boston doesn't dampen the strength of their friendship. They are there for each other's successes and each other's failures, through the goood and the bad times. Their friendship is unbreakable.

Valerie was on the path to becoming a highly successful Caridio surgeon when she loses a patient on the operating table and this destroys her confidence in her own abilities and she refuses to return to the operating theatre, choosing the ER instead. Whilst Ryan supports her, he doesn't necessarily agree with her decision.

Ryan is fighting his own battles as a successful Jazz musician. He feels the joy of performing and seeing new places being sucked out of him and it is making him very unhappy. When a terrible accident takes place, it forces both Valerie and Ryan to reconsider their priorities and their feelings for each other.

This is a beautiful love story told with their voices and through their journey together as their friendship grows stronger. Everyone else around them is telling them it is not possible for a man and a woman to be just friends. It is fascinating to be part of their journey and the building of the solid foundation of their friendship. Roberta Capizzi creates characters are down to earth, likeable and that you can relate to. The story that she tells is beautifully crafted and weaved together and is a real pleasure to read.
