    Superb character build up for author's Alpha Bodyguard: Collins.
    We are introduced to Collins (a Marine) home from Afganistan for only hours to attend to a family emergency. Exhausted mentally & locked up emotionally, Collins spares a few hours to visit his friend's bar to talk, drink & maybe pick up a woman for the night. It's there he meets Brookelyn, timid, haunted & terrified of people: male or female.
    Collins finds Brookelyn pulls at him as no other woman has, her beauty yes, but it is more the expression in her eyes that calls to him like a Siren.
    Despite her best efforts, she ends up at Collin's oceanview condo & ends up allowing herself to have a few hours of pleasure for herself with the military male who in spite of his commanding dominance, his massive size & rugged looks makes her feel safe, wanted & treasured.
    And Collins a taciturn & an emotional wasteland unaccountably finds himself trying to entice Brookelyn to wait for him for 3 months when his current tour of duty is completed.
    But Brookelyn is hiding a dark past that is still grimly part of her present. And terrified it will drag Collins down, she flees the condo before the dawn.
    The first half of the book takes place over the course of a few hours, I did think it went on a little longer than I would have preferred but it sets the tone for how impacted Collins is by Brookelyn's disappearance & why he feels & acts the way he does in the 2nd part of the book & why Brookelyn left the way she did.
    However, the action & tension explodes in the 2nd half: Andre, Sawyer, Talon, Dane, as well as Neil (it is funny how Neil scares even Collins) all make appearances to help Collins in his laser focused goal.
    But Brookelyn ripped Collins' heart with her betrayal & her deception & now Collins must decide if he'll save her, unaware of the hell she's actually in.
    The author does an excellent job with her characters, we get both Collins & Brookelyn's POV throughout the story & her action & covert mission scenes are some of the best I've read.
    I was very much interested in both Collins & Brookelyn, rooting for them to overcome their pasts & heartache, to have a HEA together. But first Collins must decide if Brookelyn is worthy to be saved & even Andre Luna admits the enemy they must overcome is beyond Luna & Associates abilities to take down.
    A rousing read with an stellar cast.

    I'm usually hesitant to try new authors, especially when their reviews come up in ascending order (by # of stars) The first 2 I read were from 1 star readers and they complained about the pace of the book mostly and personality of the heroine. I scrolled down and read the 4 & 5 star reviews and got a completely different impression. Deciding to get my own impression I ordered book #2 and BAM! I'm so excited. I found a new author.     It takes just one night with Brooklyn for Garrett Collins to be hooked and then betrayed. She disappears only to resurface three years later. With a child no less, who's the spitting image of him. Blinded by rage, Garrett vows vengeance but everything is not as it seems and the more he digs the middier the waters gets. Getting her out of her present circumstances and hearing her story is paramount. There are deadly consequences and the possibility of culpability on her part. His anger wanes because he's never stopped caring.

    This was a well written romance but it just wasn’t my type of story. I normally wouldn’t have picked this up after reading the blurb but some things said in a review made me go against my instincts.

    Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad book it’s just not my style. I can’t seem appreciate books where the two MCs are kept apart for years and then there’s a secret baby and the man is super made about it.     I was excited for the release of this book and it certainly didn't disappoint. Garrett Collins is a Marine, back home for literally just hours, for personal reasons. He is drawn to the young woman taken in by a friend of his and working at his bar. She's nervous and like an flighty animal. When something happens, he wants to learn more about her, but she's tight lipped and reluctant to tell him anything. Still, after following her, he offers her a meal and some quite time at his place. It looks like they're going to find an instant kind of happiness with one another, but things aren't quite as they seem.
    Three years later and bitter about the woman he thought did him wrong, he is shocked when out of the blue, he sees her again, but she's with a child, the spitting image of him, and suddenly he needs answers.
    Brookelyn/Brooke is trapped in a situation she doesn't see any way out of. To protect her son, she must obey the man who keeps her and controls her. She can't spend time with the father of her son.
    But when it comes to a Sybil Bartel book, with her alpha men, it's like calling in the cavalry. It's always nice catching up with characters from previous books.
    I thoroughly enjoyed this and my only regret is I didn't pace myself enough and I finished it too quickly.

    I gave this four stars for a reason the bad language and blasphemy was over the top!!
    The storyline was great, the characters were great but I was reading this on my own and still felt bad about the use of the bad language. It wasn't necessary to promote the characters as bad ass we already got that!
    It says a lot about the writers own talent and personality when they have to use such bad language and vulgarity for description. I'm not a prude but this was almost constant throughout the book.

    This boo6k dragged on too long. It was so boring at times but then interesting at other times.
    Garrett Collin a marine met a mysterious woman Brookelyn but knew nothing about her after a one night stand that he wanted more out of but she left and broke his heart. He searched for a year for her and gave until 3 years later he saw her with a little image of himself.
