Outstanding start to the series! St. Monarch's Academy is a place where all organized crime family's can send their children once they turn 21 to gain some additional training that will help them in the world in which they live. It is considered to be neutral ground and the school has one policy, no one is to kill another student on their grounds. Merciless Saints is Damien Vetrov and Winter Hemsley's story. Winter is called the Blood Princess for a couple of reasons but the main on is because her family is in the blood diamond business. With her fiery spirit and her red hair it isn't a surprise to learn that her family is Irish Mafia. Winter's life changed when she was thirteen years old and it put her on her path in life. She is now twenty-one and starting at the Academy. Damien has been training at the Academy for almost two years to be a custodian and in a couple of months when his time there is done he will be auction out for contract as a protector. He has an impeccable record and whoever gains him as their protection for the year will be glad for it. When Damien and Winter met for the first time the chemistry was instant. I loved the way they were together in every way. This book had so much action in it, it will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. There were a few intense moments that had me gasping for breath but WOW it was so intense I didn't want to put it down. If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, Dark Romances, or Organized Crime Romances I would highly recommend this book to you. Happy Reading!!!

    Another GREAT BOOK by Michelle Heard. I have loved every book I’ve read from this author and this one is no different. Who doesn’t love a mafia romance, there was suspense and love/hate throughout the whole book so it’s definitely a great story.

    Dark themed mafia romance. Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy adult intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, assassinations, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, subterfuge, BDSM themes of restraint, dominance / submission, and a little spanking, etc. Stereotypical themes for the genre.

    There are a few grammatical issues, but they are minimal. I loved the strength of the characters and the world building was phenomenal, as usual. I have read quite a few from the mafia genre and Michelle Heard’s have become my favorites for the details that bring the story to life.

    There are 5 distinct categories taught at St. Monarch’s Academy, the only neutral site within the various families. Three of which are smugglers (like Winter’s family), assassins, and custodians (protect assassins, smugglers, etc. and Damien’s family is known as the best in the world). After Winter’s mother is assassinated when she is a teen, she decides that she is going to train to be the best custodian so she can take care and protect her brother, Sean, when he takes over the business from her father.

    So at age 21, the earliest someone can attend the Academy, Winter travels to Geneva. When she arrives, she meets Damien and there is an immediate attraction, but she knows she must fight it. Since he is also training to be a custodian and will be bonded to an assassin he could be hired to kill her or her remaining family. There is also a member of the Blanco family that hired someone to kill her mother.

    It is going to be critical that Winter learns what she can about to protect her family as well as anything about those that could be hired to kill them at any time. Damien’s goal for the Academy was to break all of his older brother’s records and he has done it. Now he is just waiting until the night of the auction so he can officially graduate and accept his first contract from the man that is almost as close to him as a brother.

    Damien has known forever that he will have to marry someday for the good of the family and he never minded until he saw Winter. No other female has ever made him want the things she does. She is beautiful and fierce, and it is the latter that draws him the most. It would be everything to be the man to tame that fire and mold it to his will.

    Unfortunately he knows that it will never happen … right?

    I really love a good book where the story is so good that you can’t stop reading. I already read other books from Michelle Heard and this one is definitely my favorite!! Winter the protagonist is not only a princess but a fierceful one. She knows what she can handle and doesn’t submit very easy instead of letting others protect her.
