    I was happy to find this book in my mail box shortly after the release party on Facebook. I honestly had completely forgotten I had won it and had started reading it on ebook. Once I got my hands on this beautiful piece of work I kept bouncing back and forth between book and kindle just so I wouldn't miss a moment of reading it!

    Dina is a smart, sexy, and strong willed woman. She doesn't take crap from no one and will flip from flirty to dangerous in a millisecond. I loved her witty comebacks, her moments of bravery only made more appealing by her moments of weakness. And when faced with the hottie alien, Liam she has more self control than I ever would!

    Liam, on the other hand, has been alone for so long it was about time he found someone to shake up his extra long life and Dina is just the one to do it. She tempts him in every way, pulling out the protective side of him as well as the man. Liam is everything you could want in a guy, built into a humanoid package.

    There is not a moment in this book you will be bored. From the awesome fight scenes, to high tech lingo, all the way to the steamy and melty body encompassing sex scenes. I sped through this book and am excited the second one is already out! (Review coming soon!)

    This is a story with intriguing characters, concepts, and backstory. I was immediately drawn into wondering what exactly was going on, as the mystery dawns immediately as you brought into the world so aptly described by Ms. Nixon. The dynamic between Dina and Duncan is very interesting, and I must confess to really liking Dina. This tale is very grounded in human emotion and frailty even as it explores unknown potential amidst conspiracy and greater conflict that looks poised to change the world forever.

To sum up my experience without spoiling,here is my review. In the near future,there are people with extraordinary...abilities. Dina is a loner,a wanderer,rebel. She also happens to be psionic. Duncan (Dina's twin brother) and Bates are agents tasked with monitoring these special people,neutralizing any threat that may occur. When a strange paranormal activity arises,Dina assists Bates and Duncan with the investigation,only to find out they are not the only ones looking for clues. The story takes off from there...This book has action,mystery,suspense...even romance. I cared about what happened to these people. And yes,for those who love a bit "romp in the sheets",it has that,too. The story didn't lose me. The main characters weren't cookie-cutter types. The plot didn't chase rabbit trails. I loved this story,and I see why Jenn Nixon is writing more sequels. If you loved her Tiva Boon series,if you are a Sci-Fi fan,or if you are just looking into reading a different genre,give this a look. Maybe it will change your...mind?

    I enjoyed this story so much!!! Had the best of my favorite genres wrapped up in one story.

    The characters are interesting, complex and fun. Put the characters together with aliens, mystery and danger made this story flow. The plot was well done and kept this reader interested and wanting to see what would happen next. I didn't scroll through pages as there wasn't anything tedious and boring. Constant action until the very end created a storyline that is thoroughly engaging.

    I would love to see this as a movie.

    MIND: The Beginning by Jenn Nixon is a SciFi tale that takes place in the not too distant future. This book has a great mix of action, intrigue, suspense, and romance. The characters are believable, down to earth, qwerky in the best way, and over all very easy to get attached to! In the future we find more and more people have special abilities and of course, some feel the need to use them nefariously. Where there is evil, good must step up to balance the score and in MIND: The Beginning we follow the exploits of people who chose together to help the human race and keep those that would choose to do harm in check. I found the story to be plausible, enjoyable, and paced well through out the book. I can’t wait to jump into book two!

    Dina is worried for her twin brother Duncan when she loses the mind link they share. When goes looking for him she gets roped into joining her twin brother Duncan in a government team to track and monitor other people with psionic abilities.
    This puts her in the path of the mysterious Liam and changes her life completely.

    I feel like this would be good for fans of Agents of Shield, there's a great mix of world building and character arcs but equally strong on the action packed story.
    The pacing was good and while I wasn't a fan of Dina as a character, she was well developed and you can see the reasons behind her actions. I would've liked to have seen more depth in Duncan so I'm hopeful we'll see that in the next book!
    The romance was slow to build up but once it gets there it's emotionally intense with a couple of mildly spicy scenes.

    Overall a strong Sci fi story without getting overly technical and it works as a standalone even though it's part of a series.

    Jenn Nixon has this fantastic introduction to a series that I cannot wait to read book two and three. She has a new fan in me.
    The lead character is very likeable, in fact all the characters are. You see their flaws and talents. The backdrop is earthy and painted into the story seamlessly. The pace is like the rhythm of a heart beat, it picks up pace when your pulse does. Five stars from me. Now I am going to buy book two.
