- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019Format: Kindleloved Mikey and Renin's story. this book was so different and so well written. i can't wait to read more from this author. i would def recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2019Format: KindleMike is an enforcement officer for Fish and Wildlife. When he find a creature being abused in a carnival he rescues him. When he learns that the monster Renin can talk and is intelligent he knows he has to rescue him from his newest cage. He didn’t anticipate issues he would face letting Renin make a home with him. Also he didn’t know just how much he will come to care for Renin. Until he has to let him go.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story. It was very unusual. At first I was a little surprised at the sexual relationship between man and monster. Then it just became Renin and Mike, so what if Renin had feathers and a very talented tail. A very engaging story about not taking a “Monster” at face value.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2019Format: KindleThis is the first I've read from this author and it definitely left a good impression!
The story is very compelling, though a tad bit slow in the beginning, it really picks up after the first few chapters. The relationships between the characters (especially Mikey and Renin of course!) are complex but sweet. Once I got about halfway through, it was impossible to put this one down. Definitely give this one a go if you liked The Shape of Water, Cold Skin, or the author's other work, Scales of Gold!

More of a slow burn than I am used to, but a delightful one to be sure. Just enough heat to tease you until the main event.
I did have some small issues with the drawn out failing relationship between Mike and another since that particular trope isn't to my taste, but by the end I was cheering on Mike and Renin regardless.
For fellow Monster lovers this is a good book to waste an afternoon with.
