Montrose Paranormal Academy, Book 2: Crossing Nexis: A Young Adult Urban Fantasy Academy Novel Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 175 ratings

Montrose Paranormal Academy better watch out—it’s time for Seer Training.

I’ve got some new angel powers to play with. And I’m only getting started.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned since last semester, you never know what the Three Societies are going to do next.

First, they invite you into their midst and call it Seer Training. Yeah, right. Like they have any idea what to do with the likes of me.

Then they say, “Go fend for yourself.” I don’t think they’re going to like the way I fend for myself.

Because I’m tired of bowing to the whims of the Guardians, Nexis …

Or anybody else for that matter.

I’m the Seer. I’m the one with super-cool angel powers. And I’m the one who pays the price when I use them.

Whether the Guardians want to teach me or not, I need to master my new powers before they turn on me.

And I need to decide a few things for myself:
1. Whose side do I want to be on in this tug-of-war between the Three Societies?
2. Which one of my two guys is ready to fight for me?
3. How can I turn the tables to get what I want for a change?

I still want to find my brother. Maybe even fight by his side. But first, I need to learn how to become my own Seer.

Just because I have awesome powers, doesn’t mean I’m anybody’s property.

Montrose Paranormal Academy, Crossing Nexis is book 2 in a Clean Academy Paranormal YA series for teens. It’s a saga full of slow burn romance, snarky dialogue, and urban fantasy adventure set in New York City. Think Shadow Hunters meets Shatter Me with a dash of Bloodline Academy.

Review

Praise for The Nexis Secret, Book 1 in The Nexis Angel Series: "Full of intrigue, sass, and life or death choices, The Nexis Secret will keep young readers turning pages long past their bedtime."
-Stephanie Morrill, YA author of the awarding-winning Ellie Sweet series

"
The Nexis Secret is a YA paranormal romance that blurs the lines of prep school withangels and spiritual warfare. Interesting paranormal story with coolbattle scenes and well described abnormal characters, like angels anddemons. The setting and world building is also really nicely done andreaders will have a good sense of the crazy world that they have beendumped in.

Although it is a young adult book, the material issure to be enjoyed by younger, middle grade readers as well as adultsand readers of the New Adult genre. And they will enjoy reading aboutthis world as they find their way out."
-Janelle Fila, Readers' Favorite ★★★★

"It has scary parts, action, adventure, romance and really makes you think. I couldn't put it down! It is like Nancy Drew,
This Present Darkness and several other books combined, but remains unique unto itself."
-Lori, Amazon Reviewer ★★★★★

"One of the best paranormal books of the year."

From the Author

Crossing Nexis is a young adult fantasy romance book that deviates from the typical story line of most YA angel romance books. I wrote this series to break away from the been-there-done-that story tropes of teens falling in love with angels.

Instead, I focused on what would happen if only
one girl could see the paranormal world around her. What if it was entirely real, just like in the Bible? Why would she be the only one who could see? And more importantly, who would want to control that special power?

Thus the world of secret societies came into play--The Nexis Society vs. The Guardians. Naturally, they needed their own prep school to train proteges. Thus Montrose Academy in Riverdale, New York, was created. As the two opposing secret society leaders compete for our girl, a typical teen romance element emerges from the background that. It's a love triangle that's all about coming of age trials and how values and virtues affect our heroine's decisions. A truly clean paranormal romance that's perfect for fans of young adult supernatural fiction.

Above all,
Crossing Nexis is a clean young adult supernatural romance book that highlights the struggle between light vs.dark and the adventure that comes along with that struggle. It's a standout among free YA kindle books. If you love this YA paranormal romance as much as I do, be sure to look for the next installment in the award-winning 4-part Nexis Angel series, coming in 2020.

Happy reading!

This book is fast paced which I like. If a book takes to long for action between characters I get bored and delete the book. That is sure not going to happen with this series which is good since I already bought the whole series. :)

Once again, the story line is commendable and interesting. It was obvious from the first book her love interest would sway but the many mix ups in this book gets frustrating. From date night going from 6pm to 8pm, to the title of hacker getting switched up from character to character in the same dialogue, to several more slip ups..

This is book two in the Montrose Paranormal Academy series. Having escaped from the clutches of her psychotic ex-boyfriend and the dangers of the academy, Lucy now embarks on seer training in how to use her magical powers.

Although Lucy must learn to use her nascent abilities, and overcome lots of challenges and dangers, she still finds time for romance along the way.

Readers who enjoy an urban fantasy laced with secret societies, magic, and dastardly plots will enjoy this well-written book. I'm looking forward to book three and Lucy's continuing adventures.

What a wild ride. All three societies have things going on and the world may never be the same. Nexus is doing there best to get Lucy, and the Guardians believe she should be on their side. Friends, love interests , and plots.

In book 2, Lucy's world turns upside down. She is forced to become who she is meant to be. She definitely finds some highs and some lows, but must move forward. On to the next book because I must know what the next chapter brings.
