Moorings: A chilling Norfolk Broads crime thriller (DI Tanner Norfolk Broads Murder Mystery Series Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 15,294 ratings

A CHILLING NORFOLK BROADS CRIME THRILLER!
"This book was nothing short of perfect."
Shalini's Books & Reviews

A war veteran murdered in his home, a property developer with links to organised crime, and an old family secret that seems unwilling to stay dead.

When Harry Falcon, a wealthy boatyard owner and highly decorated World War Two veteran, is found drowned in his bath, DI John Tanner and DC Jenny Evans start by questioning his two sons, each with a motive for wanting him dead. But when the elder son is found with his head smashed in under a toppled yacht, and the younger son has been talking to a local property developer, one who’d spent months trying to buy the yard from his father, the investigation soon leads them towards a dark and dangerous secret, one which nobody can quite believe.

Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

Moorings is a totally addictive gripping crime thriller, the third in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd, J M Dalgliesh, and Elly Griffiths into David Blake devotees.

Outstanding detective series. I love how the books build upon each other and the characters grow. Mild humor throughout but not offensive. I found it difficult at times to figure out the criminal, as there appeared to be several suspects. To find a GOOD British detective series during the Covid pandemic has been a blessing! I have downloaded all books in the series, and I am certain I will enjoy each one. Well done, Mr Blake!

I read the first three books and these books are so incredible that this author should be famous beyond description in the United States. I'm so overcome by the complexity of the stories in the fact that you have no clue how they would end and really a shocked when you find out who the bad guy is. I've read every book so far and without a doubt I'm going to write every book this guy writes. These books are unbelievably good. I would start with the first book because it's really a series that just continues along. I have to run along now so I can start the next book. Buy his books!!

These books are perfect! The perfect blend of characters, action on every page, interesting facts (he sure likes cars!) and just enough humour. And his love of the Broads shines through. However, please read the three books in order, starting with Broadlands. Only problem, I could not put these books down. Feeling sleep deprived.

Well written and easy read. Nice percentage of wit, romance, education and intrigue. Lots of bodies that have an unexpected demise. Characters are well developed and series builds on itself but each is a stand alone novel. Waiting for the next one.

Each book gets better and better. DI Tanner and DS Evans along with the rest of the team continue to walk into situations that seem crazy, so many twists in the story you never who done it till the very end. Again a must read

David Blake provides us with fully formed, likeable lead characters who are somewhat typical of current crime novel/thrillers. They overstep the boundaries placed by their superiors, manage to get by with bypassing the court-required rules of gathering information, and always escape that fatal blow, protected by the hand of the god of murder mystery heroes.

Despite and because of that, Tanner mysteries are good escapist reading, offering hard to put down adventure. Start with the first one, if possible, there is a chronology.

As a life long sailer and confirmed Anglophile this was just up my alley. Characters were likable and relatable. Plot sufficiently convulsed to require thought. Fast paced and very English.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book But...

I thought Tanner was in his early 40s but apparently he’s in his late 40s! What’s a girl like Jenny doing with an old sod like him? Not the most realistic pairing, but still an interesting read and a good book. Good enough, that I’m starting on the next one right now.
