    This book includes one of the grumpiest characters I have ever met in a book that was as light as this book. But somehow, Rhys Everly made it work. Well, Hwan made it work, but the author has to get some kind of credit, right? Ha!

    To be fair to Parker, he has reasons behind why he's so grumpy, but his character is one that is going to have to grow on you unless you are an empathic person by nature. Show him some patience and you will see the man that his siblings and friends do. Have a little faith, and you will see the softer side of him come out. He's just got some deeply internalized demons to fight first.

    Everly has a way of writing fun characters and bringing some levity to just about every situation. Sometimes, you just need to laugh. With this book, you will encounter the Golden Girls as you've never seen before, and you will learn more about bubble tea than you thought you ever would. Neither things are unpleasant.

    This is a fun read and is bound to entertain you and leave you ready for the next book. Until then...happy reading!

    The premise of the story sounds good, but it didn't work for me. I was tired of Parker in the first few chapters, I like grumpy characters but I think this was just a little too much, it borders on nastiness(it's really an A word).
    Also a lot of the facts and details about characters and the island are missing, to make the story more well rounded. It just seemed to evolve around Parkers rudeness.
    I liked Hwan and his grandmother, they were the best part of the book.

    What a journey! It begins with a pity party for one when Parker moves to an island off Cape Cod after his decommission as Navy SEAL and his divorce. Due to a job given to him by a former superior, he meets Hwan, the owner of a bubble tea shop. Hwan is the polar opposite to Parker, a flamboyant pink-haired twink of Korean descent, where Parker is a grumpy and muscular ex-soldier. This impossible couple learn much about each other when Parker needs to protect Hwan. And Parker learns why all his relationships to women in the past were doomed. I don't want to give too much away. But I think I should watch the Golden Girls again - with a big bubble tea full of popping boba! The story is hilarious. The main characters are just so much fun! And there are so many side plots, I could go on and on with this review! I loved it and can't wait for the sequel.
