Welcome to New Port where shifters, witches, and vampires live openly next to humans working jobs, ordering take-out from the blood bank, and looking for love in all the wrong places.

After being disowned and labelled human because she can’t shift, Betty Newman rescues unwanted dogs to fulfill her need for pack. Being rejected by her birth pack was enough pain for a lifetime and she’ll do anything to avoid subjecting herself to their prejudices. Things change when Ken Birch wakes in her kennel still in wolf form and declares she’s his soul mate. His presence wakes her feral heart and makes her long for a life she can’t have. Old wounds are opened and she refuses to listen to instinct. But only a shifter can be a soul mate and now her life is in danger by New Port’s pack. Either Betty learns to shift or she dies. Problem is the only one willing to help is Ken, the last person she wants.

Ken was running along and werewolf form with his dogs when he felt tranquilizer shots enter his body. Betty's assistant is horrified and run to Betty with her snafu of an unconscious werewolf. So they put them in the biggest kennel in the shelter. When Ken regains consciousness, he quickly realizes that he is his soulmate and a werewolf shifter. Betty denies this because she cannot shift.

Other problems occur that needs solving before they can have a mating ceremony, like Betty learning how to shift. She tells him she can no longer see him. Will they ever get back together and have a mating ceremony? What happens if she really can't shift?

The characters are hilarious, relatable in trying to achieve something seemingly impossible, and unique. The plot itself is fast-paced and dramatic. I would love to tell you more about the story but I don't want to give away the ending.

Highly recommended in these not so stories that makes him so hilarious and intriguing. I never enjoyed myself so much or laugh so hard that tears came to my eyes. Annie Nicholson is fast becoming a favorite author of mine. I wish you would write more stories about New Port and the characters who lives there.

Again, this book (like the first) is an entertaining light read. But i didn't feel as connected to the characters in this one. Both of the main characters were a bit 'mild' in personality. There is a supporting character (Beth) that I don't care for at all.

The premise is quite similar to the first book. (Mate who is unable to shift). The ending seemed a little rushed. The books could be longer. But again....I enjoyed it for a quick HEA read.

    I love these books!

I also love Annie's writing style. As I say in all of my reviews of Annie-books, she has the perfect balance of heat and humor, and they always leave me with a smile and wanting more!

In addition, she has a unique talent for writing shifters. She gives them human qualities in their animal form and vice-versa, and she does it in such a way that I've never really seen done before.

I was really cheering for Betty. She couldn't shift, and that left her in limbo between the human and paranormal worlds. Her struggle was so touching, but what she lacked in sense of self, she made up for with sass!

Ken was every bit the dominant male. I enjoyed reading his devotion to Betty and how he handled being introduced to her wacky way of thinking.

The ending was so awesome, and I was SO so happy for both of them!

This is the second book I've read in this series. While it's not necessary to have read Not His Dragon in order to enjoy this book, I HIGHLY recommend it. Angie and Eoin (from that book) hang out a lot in this story, and I was so happy that I got to catch up with them!

I can't wait for more in this series!!!

I loved this book sooooo much! It was fun to read, I couldn't put it down or stop laughing.

Betty Newman was a shifter unable to shift, despite that she had all the characteristics of a werewolf. She was fun, funny and oh would she make you cry. (Sympathy for her is real people) I also loved the last balls of steel she had on her (lol),

Ken, beta wolf of his pack, funny, charismatic and he seemed a like someone you want to tease and please. I adored Ken since he popped into Not his Dragon, I'm happy he had his happy ending.

(And who would have thought Ryota had a heart?!?)

The book is funny and does have its tense moments. But I think it's worth the read, you'll love the characters!

Betty, owner of a struggling animal shelter and a non-shifting werewolf/human half-breed, meets Ken, investment & finance guy and the local werewolf pack beta, when he wakes up in her shelter after a case of mistaken identity. As the story progresses painful pasts are brought up, lies of omission seem harmless at the time, and fighting for what they want is their only way forward. Annie Nicholas’ style of writing is wonderfully sarcastic, witty, and funny. The calamity she puts her characters through while they find love is gut chuckling good and endearing at the same time. I am moving on to read Not His Vampire next to see what she has planned for Victor and Trixie.

    Audio book review:

Overall I loved this book this book, the audio performance was witty and lively, conveying the tone of the book well. If one is reading the book and the audio simultaneously there were a some deviations (less than 25 minor) from the printed book, but they did not detract from the overall story and would not be noticed otherwise.

I received a free audio copy of the book from the author for a book I had previously purchased. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Once again Annie has delivered an exciting and fun adventure. The characters fight for their happiness against what seem to be insurmountable odds.
The only thing I would change is the swearing.

So I really wouldn't call this a romcom. There were only like two funny parts. One being Angie burning down her and Eoin's sitting room trying to kill rats.
Unfortunately this read was predictable. Followed the same premise as the first one. But since I bought the entire series I will push thru them knowing they are identical basically but with name changes. I'm not saying it was bad it was okay.

Basically the theme should be, dragons need to get out more. No but really I like how hard they had to fight for their soulmate-Ing. Most shifter books it’s like wham bam, mine let’s get to sexy times. But there was dating and getting to know each other and their lives and family before (or at least mostly before) all the wham bam. This is such a fun and entertaining read loved it

Not His Werewolf introduces Betty who runs an animal shelter. Betty is half human and half werewolf and feels all werewolf. Unfortunately she has been exiled from her pack as she is unable to shift. She has tried to adapt to the human world but still feels all werewolf. Then Ken comes into her life. The Beta of the local pack and the Alpha's son. Ken has no doubt that she is a werewolf as she is his soul mate. All this happens in the first chapter of the book so you can imagine the ups and downs that these two are going to go through!
This is a funny and romantic book that is suitable for all ages.
I look forward to the next in line Not His Vampire!

This is a standalone paranormal romance novel with a HEA that forms part of a series with overlapping characters. The time that I was reading it just whizzed by. Great new world setting-similar to ours but with the addition of supernatural beings and great characters - believable whilst being extra special. Highly recommended!
