Oops, I've Fallen Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 4,816 ratings

I don’t even qualify for early bird specials, and yet here I am—thirtysomething, stuck in a retirement village, and one Bingo night away from making out with my potential stepbrother.

If my time with Ryan Miller were a hit track on the radio, I imagine the lyrics would go something like this…

“We’re so different, but they say opposites attract. Oops, I’ve fallen, and my heart doesn’t want to come back.”

But, holy bingo night, is my attraction to the sexy, broody businessman so much more complicated than the chorus of a song.

His dad lives right next to my mom, and after the two of them suffered an unexplained accident while taking down holiday decorations, both Ryan and I were forced to become the only thirtysomething residents of Sunny Creek Village Independent Senior Living Community.

Temporarily moving in might seem like overkill for a fractured tailbone and a severely pulled groin muscle, but believe me, when your mom is as wild as mine and your dad is as cantankerous as Ryan’s, they need supervision to ensure they stick to doctor’s orders.

Constantly thrown together by the antics of our crazy parents and the tough-as-nails community enforcer, Betty Matthews, Ryan and I formed an alliance for the sole purpose of survival.

But I never expected to be so interested in finding out what he was hiding beneath his grumpy, serious demeanor. More than that, I never dreamed what I found would be the kind of man women sell their souls to the devil for.

Unfortunately, our little one-hit wonder on the airwaves has more to say before it comes to an end. Although, finishing the outro to this song is a real doozy...

Tell me…what lyric rhymes with
Oops, I’ve fallen for my future stepbrother?

Hilariously entertaining!
The wit, the fun, the snark… I couldn't get enough of Oops, I’ve Fallen. I laughed and smiled my way through this. This story was filled with entertaining moments, hilarious dialogue, and awesome characters. I never wanted it to end! As soon as I met Carly and Ryan, I instantly loved them and knew I was in for a fantastic opposites-attract romance and I was not wrong. I was laughing right from the start. Carly is wild and flies by the seat of her pants and Ryan is a total by-the-book kind of guy yet somehow, they perfectly balanced each other out. There were so many amazing scenes between these two and I loved their internal dialogue and back-and-forth banter. It flowed well and I loved the ease between them as everything played out. I loved Carly and Ryan's playfulness, how they commiserate about their parents, and the bond they formed. They also had this building heat and chemistry that I loved, and when everything came to a head, it was exciting and sex-ay! As for their parents, Stella and Sal were the best! I loved them and their seriously cute innuendos. The crazy shenanigans these two got up to were just so amusing but also so sweet and heartwarming. Some of their commentary had me rolling. Of course, there's a would-be villain and I even loved her and the extra fun she brought. This was hilariously funny but there’s also a nice amount of heartfelt moments mixed in with a good amount of emotion at the end. I loved the conflict that arose and the ups and downs of Carly and Ryan working everything out. The ending was wonderful and the epilogue made me ridiculously happy. Honestly, the whole story made me ridiculously happy! This was an incredible story with priceless moments that had me smiling so hard my face hurt.

Carly and Ryan have a very interesting romance. Which makes sense because they have interesting parents. From their first meeting fighting over a taxi, to their many surprises at the end, their love story is FUN and HOT!

I like when opposites find each other. She’s a free spirit and he’s wound tight, until they start their affair, and he’s a man on a mission.

A fun, entertaining read of elderly hi jinx and finding that special love later in life.

This story was a flirty and sexy funny read chock full of fiery characters, absurd situations, and a relatable storyline. The banter between Ryan and Carly (and Sal and Stella) had me snorting out loud throughout the book. To assist them with their health issues, Ryan, an insurance company VP, begins staying with his father, Sal, and Carly, a ski instructor, begins staying with her mother, Stella. Sal and Stella live next door to each other in houses located in a Florida senior subdivision. Their injuries, Sal pulled a groin muscle and Stella broke her tailbone, supposedly occurred in a “decorating” accident. Starting with their first accidental meeting at the airport when Carly steals Ryan’s cab, strong, fiery feelings spark between the two and spending days upon days with their hard to control parents who are dating each other ramps up those feelings exponentially. Carly and Ryan’s love story has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steamy, side splitting hilarity, tearful scenes, cringe worthy moments, and heart squeezing love. On their way to their HEA, while dealing with secrets, parents acting like teenagers, out of control HOA standards, remote working, and sizzling chemistry, Carly and Ryan learn about themselves, their own worth, and their relationships with their parents. Ryan learns to let go a little while Carly learns to tighten up a little and together they see the beauty in balance. Max Monroe continues to be a master at hilarious swoon worthy tales.

This is the sweetest and most hilarious book I've read to date. I couldn't stop laughing and smiling at the shenanigans. Love Carly, Ryan, Stella and Sal!!! I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and I look forward to reading more from the author. Highly recommend it too.

This book is uneven. It’s a slow beginning, setting the stage for both Carly & Ryan to arrive at the senior living subdivision to take care of their respective parent who got injured “taking down decorations.” They slowly move from annoying each other to saving each other from their parents’ looniness. Stella & Sal are a hoot! The neighborhood busybody, Betty & Nan, are people we’ve all dealt with. The hijinks of the politics are hilarious.

But **SPOILERS**, so much of the story fell apart when S&S got engaged. What was with Stella keep calling Ryan “son”? It felt like subtext was hinted at - was she doing it to irritate Carly? Did she mean it? Why did Sal text her that they needed to do something because he suspected that R&C were an item....but nothing happened! They just let the “kids” leave town. Even the night before the wedding, Stella whisks Carly away so she couldn’t see Ryan. It was really frustrating to read. I think that the writers intended for S&S behavior was to somehow nudged R&C together, but nothing was ever really said or done to excuse the boorish behavior.

So the first 75% of the book is really good, but the ending just missed the mark. Disappointed 😞

This book was a lot of fun. I was a little unsure at the very start, because I kinda didn’t like the FMC, Carly, much to start with. But she very quickly grew on me. I did really like Ryan right away. Both characters were full of contradictions, but worked so well together. She was impulsive, but worried. He was fastidious but adaptable.
There were a lot of funny crazy moments, and steamy moments. Overall it was sweet, and hilarious, and fun; no dark or super angsty bits. Really fun to read.
