About the author

Marion Kummerow writes historical fiction that explores the dark side of human history. A USA Today Bestselling author, she has received rave reviews from readers and critics for her novels about the German resistance during World War II. Her books feature characters who face moral dilemmas, make difficult decisions, and fight for what is right. She also infuses her stories with humor and undying love, because she believes that love is what makes the world go round.
Born and raised in Germany, Marion has lived in various countries before returning to Munich with her family. After writing several non-fiction books, she felt drawn to the past and the subject of resistance to the Nazi regime. It took her years of courage and hard work to turn the true story of her grandparents Ingeborg and Hansheinrich Kummerow into a trilogy: “Love and Resistance in the Second World War”. UNRELENTING is the first book in this series.
Bringing history to life through her books is Marion’s passion. She visits museums, travels to memorials and the locations in her books, reads original source material, and consults experts to meticulously research the historical facts and details in her novels.
Her stories are authentic and immersive, transporting readers to another time and place. She writes with the conviction that we must never forget the past, so it won’t repeat itself.
When she’s not writing or researching, Marion likes to travel, do yoga, and spend time with her family. She also enjoys reading books by other historical fiction authors.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2012Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis "Ultimate guide to Oktoberfest" is a must have not only for future Oktoberfest visitors in Munich but also for those who were there some times ago but felt lost in the overwhelming options this big German event offers.
I learned that the Oktoberfest is so much more than a big beer festival with large tents and drunken people and it would be a real waste of time when going there without thorough preparation.
Marion wrote the perfect guide that inspires you to enjoy the Wiesn according to your personal preferences. There is a tent with food, beer and music almost for every taste. No need for listening to Polkas if you don't like them. But this should be known in advance otherwise you'll sit in the wrong tent and can't switch in time. This guide takes the fear of wrong decisions and helps you working out your perfect "Oktoberfest strategy".
Questions like "what is the best day of the week to go there", "how to dress", "where to meet celebreties" and even "what to do with your luggage", are answered straight to the point without much fluff. Marion's language style is pragmatic but never superficial. Even history fans will be thrilled.
No matter if you come as group, couple, single or family - Marion has been there, done that, so you know for sure that you get valuable, actual insider information regarding this famous event.
A fun and interesting read. I highly recommend "the Ultimate Guide to Oktoberfest " by Marion Kummerow!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2014Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseFun to read, if you like beer and especially if you are thinking about going to the Fest, this is the book to read. It's not a real guide book it more of "hey heres all the beer tents and if you can't get in here some famous breweries in the area. And they even talk about some of the places you can go to before you hit the "Fest"
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThere's not a whole lot of content and the writer could have had someone who speaks English as a first language check their grammar. If you do a lot of research on the internet, it is probably better than this book. However if you want a concise guide for only a few dollars on a kindle, then this is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2014Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis little pamphlet is a worthless. No significant tips, suggestions, etc that you can't get in nearly any guide to Munich.
Save your money.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2013Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGreat read! very informational! Covered almost all/any questions I have. Used great resources and references. I am looking to start planning an Oktoberfest trip for next year and I am so happy to have this on hand!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2018Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseA lot less detailed than I expected. It only covers the basic information for the tents and the grounds. Could find this information on the official Oktoberfest website.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI was expecting an actual book. This is really more like a large pamphlet. After getting over my surprise at the size of the "book", I do think it has a lot of valuable information about the fest. Given the size, it will be easy to travel with this book. It would have been better if there was a few maps.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2012Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMy husband and I had talked about going to Oktoberfest after one visit to Germany in 2010. I wanted to see what it was all about and what to expect. Boy did I! This is definitely the insider's guide to Oktoberfest. Everything from what rides to try and where of course, to find the Beer!
