OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER (Mean Woman Blues Book 1) Kindle Edition
Stormy is a woman with a complicated past. Sean is the man who wants to be her future.
Reader Review for this Age Gap Romance: "This is truly a feel-good book. Sean is wonderful and sexy, and Stormy is aptly named. She is complicated and emotional and needs to feel the love and lust of a good man."
Every woman makes mistakes. Stormy Clarkson, haunted by the three huge ones she made, learned from her mistakes and vowed never to repeat them. On the brink of turning fifty, she's crushing on a younger man, sexy vineyard owner Sean Butler.
Sean has been after Stormy for months, but she's resisted every advance because she's determined never to risk her heart. Once an interrogator for the U.S. Army, he knows a lie when he hears one, and that's all he hears in Stormy's icy refusals. He's smart enough to know that the only way to deal with a control freak like Stormy is to make her lose control.
The beautiful blonde better be on her guard because Sean has a plan to win. His plan? Whatever it takes to win her heart.

About the author

Joan Reeves, Writing Happily Ever After—Time After Time, is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Romance. Regardless of the sub-genre, all of her novels have the same underlying premise: "It's never too late to live happily ever after. Her novels have been published in half a dozen languages, and her books are available in audio, ebook, and print.
NOTE: Since Joan has been writing for several years and had print books published with many publishers—American and foreign—be sure you choose a print book with a copyright date after 2011 because Amazon shows all of her old print books here. (Authors have no control over this.) The new print editions have been expanded and show new cover art.
When not writing romance—or nonfiction to share what she has learned in life—Joan divides her time between the hustle and bustle of Houston and a house in the Texas Hill Country where she and her hero, her husband, sit on the porch at night, look at the star-studded sky, and listen to the coyotes howl.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2012Stormy has a troubled past, three grown daughters (who get their own stories) and a lot of personal baggage to overcome.
She has managed to get her life settled but finds it's more 'beige' than anything else. But does she really want anything else? Beige is safe. Beige, Stormy finds, is also boring. But after her history, boring isn't so bad. Or is it?
Until Sean arrives - sexy, hunky - occupying her mind night and day. Stronger and stronger and she has no choice but to let him in.
WOW! Does he come in...and nothing is ever the same.
Sexy, funny, emotional and as always an ending the reader wants.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2012The story is interesting but light weight. There is not much depth to the story. The book description is what you get. I like some suspense. I think the author tried to use Stormey's past to offer some suspenseful interest, but it did not work for me. Until you know her past, you don't know that it's important to this story.
Her past does turn out to be interesting and it is important to future books. While reading this book, I doubted that I'd read another book by this author. After reading the intro of the next book, I find that I would like to know what happens to her daughters.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2012Eh. Glad this was a freebie because really the story was as thin as tissue paper. This is one of those stories that begins with the hero already madly in lust with the heroine. Right there I have an issue because with a book of this length in most cases the writer doesn't feel it necessary to explain how the protags got to this point. That is the case here. We only know the hero wants the heroine, she resists him and she's beautiful. There follows a few pages of pursuit/retreat & finally sex. No courtship. No real insight into what makes these two fall in love other than their lust for each other. There is a tease about the heroine's past. When it is finally revealed I can't say it makes me at all impressed with her.
Also I must say that the story ended at the 68% mark on my Kindle. There was 32% of after story filler which included a lot of promotional material for other stories, a recipe, and a 'behind the scenes' look at how the story was created.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2011Stormy Clarkson is a beauty. But that beauty has been more of a burden than a gift, a burden that's led her into destructive relationships and left her feeling bad about her choices in life. Along comes mega-sexy Sean Butler who has a past of his own. A take-control guy, he has Stormy in his sights. But how does Sean convince the reluctant lady of his sincerity when her greatest fear is making another mistake?
Every book I read by Joan Reeves is better than the last. Drenched in emotion and sexuality, this is a wonderful read that makes the happy ending all the more satisfying. And just so you know, that gorgeous red dress on the cover plays a significant part in the story. You don't want to miss it!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2013I enjoyed reading this "cougar" story--the love scenes were pretty steamy. I also liked the behind the scenes info. which made the book even more interesting. I liked reading the excerpt for Haley's story--I think that will also be fun to read.
I loved the secondary characters--Stormy's (love her name) relationship with her daughters is wonderful.
Looking forward to reading Haley's story!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2012This was my first Joan Reeves romance. It was also my first older heroine/younger hero romance. I wasn't sure how that was going to work, but from the first paragraph on, I knew I was in the hands of a master storyteller. Ms. Reeves paints vivid word pictures that bring the characters to life, and the settings become a virtual reality. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Definitely a fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2012Once again, a great read. Lots of fun and a great preamble for the following books of this series. I CAN'T WAIT! I really liked how she taught us how to make mozzarella cheese as part of one of the initial scenes. Plus, I love books where I laugh right out loud and Ms. Reeves does that for me. If you haven't read Joan Reeves yet...what are you waiting for? You'll have a great time, too!

3.0 out of 5 stars sweet romance
i liked this sweet romance novel, BUT.....i disliked the ridiculous name of the fem lead. Stormy. Is this for real?! The male lead was sexy and manly, which is always good for a male romantic lead. Sorry to give it away but Stormy (stupid name, sorry), is 50 yrs old.... and He is 40 yrs old. Shesh, I know I love reading romance novels but 50 yrs olds getting hot sex with a guy 10 yrs her junior wasnt really my cup of tea, and that thought kept sticking in my mind. There was loads of references to how Stormy still had a hot smokin' body, she was some pensioner reborn, wine making, home maker, 3 kids by 3 different father's and then she having hawt sex with some guy 10 yrs younger. One part of me says, go girl, go for it, but another part of me just says, ew ew ew yuck. Not sure about this one, liked the writing, but not the age topic.... WHICH was not brought up in the blurb Another blurb writing bug bear. Say was your book is about, christian novel, cougar romance, YA, BDSM, fantasy... just tell us! Oh, and the cover, doesnt match the content inside. Misleading!
