About the author

M. K. Scott is the husband and wife writing team behind The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Morgan K Wyatt is the general wordsmith, while her husband, Scott, is the grammar hammer and physics specialist. He uses his engineering skills to explain how fast a body falls when pushed over a cliff and various other felonious activities. The Internet and experts in the field provide forensic information, while the recipes and B and B details require a more hands on approach. Morgan’s daughter, who manages a hotel, provides guest horror stories to fuel the plot lines. The couple’s dog, Janeway, is the inspiration behind Jasper, Donna’s dog. Murder Mansion is the first book in The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Overall, it is a fun series to create and read. Make sure to check out The Talking Dog Detective Agency series, The Way Over the Hill Gang series, and Cupid's Catering Company series, too.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNala’s running low on cash, so when Karly’s aunt and uncle offer her a bundle to locate a missing person, she grabs it. She’ll be looking for … Santa Claus.
His real name is Chris Natale, but he immerses himself in his role as Santa all year long in Santa Claus, Indiana, and he’s been missing for quite a while. Bob and Selma are good friends with Natale and the only people who’ve noticed Chris’ absence. They’re hoping Nala and Max can find him before anyone else realizes he’s gone, with Nala disguised as a photographer and, according to Max, dog chauffeur.
But when they find Natale’s house trashed and a secret safe room with a state-of-the-art surveillance system, they wonder just why Santa Claus needs 360-degree cameras at home. Not to mention how hinky Uncle Bob is acting.
The town has two competing theme parks: Christmas Land, which is wildly successful and employs about half the town, and Vacation Land, which is not. Virtually every attraction at Vacation Land is nonfunctional, and those that work, like the flume ride with yellow-tinted water, are underwhelming. Nala, like most of Santa Clause’s citizens, wonder how it stays open.
Natale is formally employed by Christmas Land and is scheduled to sit on the throne the Friday before Halloween, which is only days away. Officer Tyler Goodnight reinvigorates his romance with Nala by showing up to help her in the search, and Karly lends a hand as well. However, Max outshines them all with a new talent, the origin of which he declines to disclose.
Once again, M.K. Wyatt has written another funny, action-packed mystery that keeps readers glued to the page. Nala and Max always deliver humorous sleuthing, and On St Nick’s Trail is no exception.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read all of the books in this series and every one of them is good. This one was a little weak in the story line but still liked it and liking forward to next book in series. Also like the way these authors write so much considering ordering books in another if their series.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed this installment of the talking dog series.Another case, another adventure for Nala and her partner Max. Nala , Max and best friend Karly are asked to find the missing Santa in Santa Claus Indiana, but is he really missing? Add to this 2 theme parks where most of the action takes place. This is cozy mystery with plot twists and includes characters from earlier books. And of course there is Max, the talking shepherd mix. He is smart and resourceful, always there, funny and really likes cheeseburgers.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed this story. It was very well written and the settings were fun. The main characters are delightful and it was nice to read about some old friends,as well. Plenty of twists in this book made for a great mystery. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

"Emotions cloud the mind. Any emotion. Fear, anger, and even excitement is enough to make you miss vital information or forget proper procedure."
Nala Bonne thought her job as a Private Eye would be exciting. Instead, she spends most of her time investigating insurance fraud and cheating spouses. "Just another day in Paradise." When her friend, Karly, offers her a missing person job, she jumps at the chance.
The missing person is none other than St. Nick (or at least a Santa impersonator) who has disappeared from the town of Santa Claus, Indiana. This is a big deal since the town relies on tourism and Santa Claus himself is an important part of the atmosphere. The town includes a Christmas themed campground and an amusement park named Christmas Town. Without Santa, can the town survive?
Nala's partner is a rescue German Shepherd named Max, who just happens to be able to talk. While helpful at times, at other times Max's gift makes Nala look insane. The dialogue between Max and Nala is fun and adds a lot to this book.
Once Nala and Max reach Santa Claus, things start to get dicey. A warning message is left in her room in the form of dog jerky treats spelling out "LEAVE". Before Nala can gather any evidence from this, Max scarfs up the treats (of course, he was hungry!).
As long as Nala continues to give Max his favorite cheeseburgers, he is willing to put his canine abilities to work and try to sniff out clues. "No one told her that part of being a PI was bribing everyone." Soon, Karly arrives to help with the investigation and the trio make their way over the river to a competing amusement park named Vacation Land. When they check it out, it is pretty boring and most of the patrons are strange looking singles wearing backpacks. Could there be more to this park than just amusement? Max has to use his drug sniffing abilities to try to find out!
If you enjoy cozy mysteries, especially those that include helpful animals, you will enjoy this book. The characters are well-developed, the writing is great and the story is a plausible one. I will definitely be on the lookout for more of the adventures of Nala and Max!
