- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2018This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. The hero was really unlikeable, but grew through his relationship with the heroine. She was also a quirky, complex character. The feeling of place was so strong that I felt I could pick out the location if I were driving through the area, and I love strong places. The plot was interesting and for a change I couldn't guess what was happening next. Altogether a great read, so good that I actually purchased Dani Collins' next book (and I usually just go for the free ones)!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2018Rolf is a domineering male who has a ‘type,’ and Glory isn’t it. She is attracted to Rolf, but hates his gruff personality. When she finally gets fed up with his behavior and rips into him, he realizes that there is more to her than he thought, and he has to face the fact that his truth isn’t pretty. He grows up, and she does as well. All while taking a run-down, abandoned lodge and trying to turn it into a world-class ski resort and training facility.
It’s a good premise and it is definitely not smooth sailing for these two, but they eventually get there.
This was a fun, engaging read, and I have really enjoyed every book that this author has written. I always know I’m going to get quality writing, a good storyline, and characters that I can care about. Great job, Ms. Collins!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2018This was entertaining. Irreverent pithy dialogue; I smiled/laughed thru' it.
Both Rolf (you know you won't 'like' him if you met, but no doubt about Glory slowly creeping into his heart) and Glory ( really liked her and was rooting for her to get over her insecurities about her writing) the characters are so well etched that you are drawn to their lives and would want to follow it even if they did not end up together.
The type of language used - especially in the intimate context, is very different from other books that I have read by Dani Collins - but it does not detract from the book.
I intend to read other books in the series..
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2020Five stars for this wonderful book. Likable characters and a great story with very clever and sometimes funny dialogues. It’s actually two books in one, being about Glory, an author writing a book while helping her dad fulfill his dream on running a lodge in Montana and falling in love our hero of the story, the Viking Rolf 😉
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020I had a really hard time getting into this book. The first half (literally half) meandered around with too many characters with little introduction. It started moving at the halfway point and after that I was fully engaged. It’s a novella inside of the main story with Glory writing her first romance novel while living and working her father’s dream. She finally came into her own at the end but not before she nearly lost the love of her life. Rolf was not very likable but he too finally grew on me. I enjoyed his love-hate relationship with his brother. It added a lot of humor. I had no issues with the writing except for the confusion with so many characters. I probably won’t continue the series, mainly because I have so many free books in my queue.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2022I thought this was a really good story. I loved the characters and the storyline was very different. A romance novel inside a romance novel. Hard to keep them separate at times, but I have to say that I liked Pandora and Brock’s story more than Glory and Rolf’s. But still a really good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2020This book started out a bit confusing and I almost didn't continue. But I'm so glad I did. Once I got to know the characters, I loved them! Especially Rolf. Do yourself a favor and delve in and don't come up for air. You won't regret it!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2020I really enjoyed getting 2 stories for 1 in this book. I loved the progression of the characters and that they were allowed time to interact like normal people do. All well drawn, I want to be at the lodge. The “story” was added bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star winner of a read
Stick with this past the first few chapters because you won’t like Rolf at first and Glory has to hit her stride. The dialogue is great, the rows are particular fun and the eventual love scenes are hot. They don’t have the formulaic description that is so familiar and a bit boring tbh. Rolf is an ‘alpha male’ - can’t say that’s my particular thing but Glory doesn’t roll over for a tummy rub and it makes a great read!
I’m ready to read more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn’t put it down.
I loved this book so much that I couldn’t put it down. I read it in two days. The setting was perfect. Loved all the supporting characters. Rolf and Glory were hot. The sex scenes almost set my iPad on fire. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars On the Edge
The first book in the Blue Spruce Lodge series a story that takes a while to get into. Rolf Johansson and Glory Cormer’s story, plus a bonus story that I enjoyed reading.
