Bear Affair

This can be a painful read at times, but it helps to remind oneself that both gentlemen do get the ultimate endings that they deserve.
I enjoyed getting more insight into Gary. He's a fascinating man who is going through so much, all on his own. The author gives him great emotional depth. Angus is the most lovable teddy bear.
Their instant spark absolutely sizzles. And I definitely appreciate the present Angus leaves for Gary.
This story is incredibly touching. Gary is so tenacious and yet also so vulnerable; you just wanna wrap him up in your arms and tell him that it will all be OK. He's such a good guy with such a beautiful, strong heart.
Blinder
(standalone)
Ben tugs at the heartstrings immediately. He doesn’t feel sorry for himself, he’s not a victim, and he doesn’t seek pity. But even through allusion, the reader can tell Ben has been through it.
Leave it to Mr. Dereham to bring tenderness, and loving feelings, to a damn orgy. His work consistently leaves me shaking my head…in amazement.
Ben and Tony’s connection is undeniable. The caregiving is sweet without becoming saccharine. So much goes without saying between these two.
The tale does not end in a banal cliche; it’s hopeful and apt and correct in this context.
Bourbon
(follow-up to Hound)
Imagine my surprise at finding empathy for Jeff.
It is poignant to see Jeff take responsibility for many of the heart-wrenching events that transpired during Hound. It’s further satisfying to see him take actual measures to heal — both for his own sake and for Gary’s.
Genuine self-reflection is never easy; for a narcissist like Jeff, it’s obviously going to be arduous and take significant emotional vulnerability. Witnessing his tender side is quite illuminating. I do actually believe that he will endeavor to improve himself.
Seeing Jeff and Gary together as a successful couple is surprisingly wholesome. And with really incredible sex.
Mr. Dereham excels at writing gay interactions, gay sex, and gay relationships. He legitimately has a gift. The hyperrealism, even in short-story form, is breathtaking. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.
