Open Wounds: The Boxed Set Kindle Edition
Family. Loyalty. Love.
Carry and Drag - Dagen wasn’t looking for a roommate, but when circumstances have Oliver moving into his second bedroom, Dagen can’t help but feel drawn to him. Living together is an adjustment, but when the attraction between them morphs into something more, will old insecurities drag them apart? Or will they find a way to carry the weight of their burdens…together?
Take Down - Harbor and Theo have been crashing together since the moment they met—in the back room of a club, at Harbor’s gym, and finally inside the fight cage. With a career making championship title on the line, will either of them be willing to take down the one who’s won their heart?
Matched Intensity - Reconnecting with Magnus is the only thing Rory wants in this world. They’ve loved each other since they were kids, even through the years spent apart. With Magnus returned home, can they find their way back together before secrets—and a threat—drive them apart for good?
Vidar - All his life, Vidar Rourke has stood tall against every challenge he’s faced—from his father’s fists to the demanding world inside an MMA cage. When he’s finally settled down with the two men he loves, an old mistake issues a challenge, threatening the harmony they’ve built. Stepping into the cage again was never part of the plan, but as the door shuts behind him on the most important fight of his life—he’ll make every punch count.
Each book in the Open Wounds series features one brother’s journey to their personal HEA set among their family owned tattoo shop and MMA fight gym. This boxset contains the complete Open Wounds series including a Dagen and Ollie bonus short story, Recovery.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2024I've had this boxed set for a while but didn't get a chance to read it, but after reading Age Rules for a second time I decided it was time and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed every single story, loved how each couple came together. Second chances for some and new love for others. I liked that every story had a HEA, but also that they still were part of each other lives after they found their person. They had a great family dynamic and how they brought friends into it to complete it. Their mother was wonderful and she just loved everybody. GREAT READ!!😍😍😍
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021The stories in this box set all showcase the Rourke brothers as they find romance. They share a cast of supporting characters and you get a sense, with all the stories collected together, of how interconnected-- in really good ways-- they all are. All of the romances incorporate plenty of heat and plenty of feelings-- plus plenty of barriers and twists to overcome along the way. I’m a sucker for a good second-chance romance, and there are two stories with elements of that trope in this collection: Matched Intensity & Vidar. While each of the stories available here have a lot to recommend them, I have to say that hands down, my favorite is Carry & Drag. Dragen and Ollie just brought out the best in each other in really rewarding ways, and I loved the way that their relationship developed. Tl;dr: this is a really solid set of romances, well worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2021These books are fantastic reads. Well-written and deep, they read quickly. I have read them separately, but I do enjoy the convenience of having them in the box set. There is no new material.
The books go through Dagen & Ollie in Carry & Drag. Ollie is a tattoo artist, fleeing from a bad situation in Vegas. Dagen & Ollie are roommates, so there's forced proximity and they just spark off each other. This story introduces Niko, as he comes to return something to Ollie (as he's escaping the same bad situation.)
Harbor & Theo feature in Take Down. I didn't know how this was going to work, two fighters getting together, but it sure did. Got more into an MMA fight than ever before in my life because of this fantastic book. Just wonderful. We're introduced to Andre Harrison in this book, who comes up again in Matched Intensity, and gets his own story with a cross over book with Age Rules, Andre Harrison's story. (Age Rules is NOT included in this box set, but it's a worthy book to get.) We also get to know Luca, Niko's brother and start a long arc that never really gets resolved over the next 3 books with the Crossfire MC.
Magnus & Rory in Matched Intensity is a 2nd chance at love book. The underlying threads of the Rourke brothers' Dad and what happened to Rory and what broke up the two young men thread through this book, along with Magnus' trauma, which brought Rocco back into the Rourkes' sphere. This book hurt, then healed, my heart. Luca works at Magnus' club, so we see quite a bit of him, as well.
Vidar with Rocco and Niko is a poly story and is handled really well. We get some details in the story of the Rourkes' father and what happened there. We also hear a bit more about Vidar's past, Vidar and Roc's youthful past, and what happened to both. The situation previously mentioned with saving Niko's brother, Luca, comes up again, as well. We get introduced to previously mentioned characters, Mace and Axel, of the Iron Heretics MC... which leads into the crossover/introduction of the Iron Heretics MC series. We see Vidar work through some really difficult things that have haunted him his whole life. It's great to see Vidar, with Rocco and Niko, get some peace and love at last.
And that brings up my only problem with these mingled storylines. We never really get a resolution to the situation involving the Crossfire MC. They 2) stole Luca, 2) attempted to take several girls off the street, and 3) tried to ransom Niko. It just hangs there, even though they were at least mentioned in some form through 3 books. And I really, really which there had been, at the very least, a novella, that explored Luca's very new and tentative attraction to Clark (Rocco's cop friend) and Luca's healing from his experiences.
These are very, very good books. I think there is an opportunity to expand them, flesh out some of the situations, add another book and make them incredible books.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2022Well written stories and well developed characters! I love the fact that all of the people and places intertwine so very well in these books! They just draw me in and won't let me go until the end!! Love it!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2022These books are all so good but my favorite one is the first one with Dagen and Ollie. The Rourke brothers live and love hard. Once you are a part of the family, they never let go!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed reading this set. As it follows each Rourke brother it draws you into the world more and more.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2021Really enjoyed this book set.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021This is a great compilation of the Rourke brother stories. Open Wounds is the gym/tattoo shop that is owned by the oldest brother, Vidar. These kind of center around MMA and training that happens at the gym since three of the four brothers work/train there. Each book follows a different couple and it starts off with the youngest brother, Dagen, who has the biggest heart. Nothing feels repetitive and they're pretty easy and sweet reads. There are some pretty heavy topics that are brought up but overall I feel that the angsty is pretty low. There's not too much drama between the couples and most of it comes from external sources.
There does feel that some of the side storylines aren't quite finished and I'm not sure if they're picked up in some of Michelle Frost's other books as there is a cross between this and the Iron Heretics series which I haven't read. If they're not in the Iron Heretics, then maybe they were left open for future books. Either way, I enjoyed this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lives And Loves Of The Rourke Bros.
MM/MM/MM/MMM, Contemporary, Hurt/Comfort, Romances. Easy to read page-turners with sweet and caring and extremely likeable characters. Alot of the stories are based around the MMA gym/tattoo parlour that belongs to Visor. Fast paced stories with action and drama throughout The box set includes an extra read about Dagen and Oliver. I loved the series and binge read the box set over a two day period. Guaranteed HEA.
