Reader's Favorite Book Review
Do Not Wish For A Pet Ostrich: Silly Books For Kids by Sarina Siebenaler is a charming story that will bring a smile to the faces of young readers. The rhyming verses give it a good rhythm, pace, and movement, making it an enjoyable read. Gabby Correia gives more momentum to the story with her colorful illustrations and takes readers on a joyful ride along with the little girl and her ostrich. It is a good story for children who like to keep pets and take care of them. The questions at the end of the book are a good way for children to reflect on what they have read.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2021Sally’s parents said she could pick out a pet.
The pup chewed things up.
Cats are lazy & parrots are noisy.
How about an ostrich?
You wouldn’t believe how many apples he ate.
Dr. Wally Kazoo had to be called.
The ostrich wore Sally out when he wanted to go for a walk.
But her friends sure wanted to get close to the ostrich.
At the beach he just buried his head in the sand.
What should Sally do with the ostrich?

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) pet storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s pet movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2020Sally's parents have given her permission to choose a pet. Previously, she had a dog that chewed everything up. She thinks about a cat or a parrot, but decides she wants a unique pet.
One night she wishes upon a star for an ostrich! The next day, Sally gets her wish. But an ostrich proves to be a problem pet for many reasons. Will Sally ever find the perfect pet?

Après avoir éliminé les animaux qui posaient problème, elle trouva celui qui lui convenait parfaitement : une belle autruche ...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book To Cuddle Up And Giggle
I read A LOT of books to my sons (aged 4 and 9), and this was one of the best books we read this year. The main character is very relatable, and the side characters are diverse in nature (which is very important to me as a modern parent). The story is super sweet and funny, too, with a gentle message about that we do not always need what we want. The rhymes flow beautifully and are witty on top. And the illustrations are bright and colourful. This books really has it all, and I'll even recommend it to my sons' school and our local library. Perfect for every child that loves to laugh and be silly.

Nothing laugh out loud here, but my 6 yr old enjoyed it. She also liked the little “quiz” question list at the end. The illustrations are nicely done.

Absolutely love this fun and creative book! Read it with my son and we enjoyed it so much. Great graphics and like the tones used across the pages. The right level of grammar and great way for us to begin the holiday. The activity page towards the end is a bonus for readers.
