Treading the Traitor's Path: Out Bad: Neither This Nor That 2 (Neither This, Nor That) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 137 ratings

Fate is a fickle mistress. No matter a man’s desires, she tends to give with one hand, and take with the other. Good or bad, it doesn’t matter to her, as long as there’s balance.

Ralph Lewis, otherwise known as Po’Boy, made one decision that changed the trajectory of his entire life. On the losing end of a schoolyard fight, he’d been on his back in the dust, glaring up at the boy who’d flattened him. Had watched unbelieving as that same boy stretched out his hand, offering to help Ralph to his feet. Against every instinct, he had accepted.

In that instant, he went from friendless pariah to having a partner and ally. For the first time in his life, he was respected... and feared. Po’Boy spent the next decade defending his position at his best friend’s side. Life was good. Fate has a way of taking back the reins, though.

A long-ago action places him directly in the crosshairs of their enemies, and circumstances force Po’Boy’s hand. Members of motorcycle clubs, men like him who live an outlaw’s life don’t treat kindly with traitors, and in their world, that is what Po’Boy has become.

With events threatening to pull him away from everything he holds dear, he’s made to walk a careful line to keep those he loves safe. Bound by silence, for his brothers’ sake, he’ll suffer through the worst thing that can happen to a man who lives and breathes the brotherhood. Out Bad.

18+ due to explicit content.

*Please note this book is part of the Neither This, Nor That MC book series, featuring characters from additional books in the series. If the books are read out of order, you’ll twig to spoilers for the other books, so going back to read the skipped titles won’t have the same angsty reveals. I strongly recommend you read them in order.

Review

"Treading the Traitor's Path: Out Bad is a solidly engrossing, well-written novel by a talented author.

MariaLisa deMora delivers a thrilling ride filled with exciting suspense, deliciously explicit, vivid sex scenes, and gritty, fast-paced action. Her characters are smart, complex, and strong with sharp edges. The settings meticulously detailed.

Fans of Motorcycle Club romance stories will not want to miss this second installment in deMora's exciting series." - NY Literary Magazine

    Some spoiler alerts, so beware:

Chrissy, AKA Butternut, was the perfect buffer for Po'Boy and Wrench.
Great book. And the narrator... WOW! He did an awesome job! Each character was so discernable that I felt as tho I was watching a movie in my head. That takes talent.
MariaLisa deMora writes such engrossing books... I find myself so immersed that I can't put the books down.
This is my second go-around reading this series and my first time listening to the audio books available. Try both. You won't be disappointed!

This wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Just didn't work for me.

I've got a serious love for Twisted and Penny....I mean I obsessed over 'This Is The Route of Twisted Pain' to a level that was/is somewhat disturbing if ya want to know the honest truth, and have re-read it...well we're not gonna go there alright? Let's just leave it at embarrassing and be done. Through it all and through every single re-reading though, I always had in the back of my head that Po'Boy....he would be the one that would do me in. He would be the one that hurt me to love. He would be the one that would make me scream (good and bad) and shred my heart. He would be the one that would maybe pull me away from Twisted....if he'd only try.
    And here we are.
I was given the ridiculously amazing honor of getting this book in my hands back in July to read and review and as excited as I was about that, I was a little scared too cuz What if? What if I was wrong? What if he wasn't everything I had pictured in my head? What if he just ended but being.....second to Twisted? It would have tore me up. Maybe to much to repair.
    And then there He was.
    OMG!
This book was almost painfully perfect! There was screaming (in the book, in my head and out loud), there was ugly, snot flowing crying (all me there folks...yes there may be pictures, no I will not allow them out into the world...it DID happen), there was 'YESSSSS!', there was fear, there was excitement and when it was all said and done...There was Po'Boy. He was every bit as much as I thought he would be and more and he brought help....Wrench and Crissy and together these three made WOW!
Yup! Sappy friggin review, for real!
Read the book and see for yourself!
I highly recommend reading Twisted and Penny's story first, because it will make this ride even better and because.....why wouldn't you!! And book # 3? It's coming folks! Not near fast enough.....(just WAIT till you've got Retro's voice in your head !)
This world...this family....THESE MEN....trust me, you do not want to miss out on any of it.

This Is The Route of Twisted Pain (Neither This ,Nor That Book 1)
Treading the Traitor's Path: Out Bad (Neither This, Nor That Book 2)

PoBoy has intrigued me since "This is the Route of Twisted Pain" but I never expected that the secrets he held so close to the chest were what they were at all! And not feeling like he is able to go to Twisted or even to Penny, despite his relationships with each of them? Heartbreaking. And then there's Wrench, who doesn't know what to think or do about what PoBoy has brought up in him feelings-wise. Toss in a sassy female in Crissy and it's a match that's either made in heaven or hades.

While this is a new series, we do get to occasionally see or hear from some of the Rebel Wayfarers simply because of the intricacies of so many of their relationships over the years. This is something I love about Ms. DeMora's books - her ability to build a sustainable world that might branch off a bit but still have the threads there in the event that later books need pulling "into" the fold so to speak. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I have been hesitant to read this story, but I underestimated MLD. Po'boy, Wrench and Chrissy are perfect together. None of them have had an easy life, but in different ways. Wrench was raised in an MC and has always know what his path would be even if it was sometimes messy. Chrissy has experienced many tragedies in her life and as her sister's final gift to her an tries to she her on the path she should have been on before her life was interrupted. There has never been anything easy about Po'boy. He has been fighting his whole life. The only tried and true constant has been his friend Twisted and his club.
I recommend you give this book a read, but only after reading This Is The Route Of Twisted Pain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Me Some Po'Boy
Reviewed in Australia on September 10, 2019
Treading the Traitor's Path; Out Bad was a book I thought I would struggle with as anybody who knows me, knows that I struggle with the whole sharing thing. MariaLisa deserves a huge congratulations for this book as it is the first book with a threesome where my angst wasn't taking over. They fit perfectly and I was comfortable with the whole scenario from the get go. Their story contained the true grit of an MC, it approached a subject that today unfortunately people still don't understand and it was highly emotional. I jumped on the back of the bike and hung on for all it was worth as Po'Boy and Wrench find their way to the destination that was their path to happiness. Their story had me on the edge of my seat, at times my eyes filling with tears and ultimately ending with a huge smile on my face as love finally became the winner. Not only is this an MC romance but one of a true example of simply love is love. As much as I love me some Po'Boy and Wrench their story would not have been complete without the glue that held this pair together. Crissy was an amazing character and one that held your heart from the start. Out Bad, definitely not, in good hell yeah.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved the first book in this series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 18, 2017
I loved the first book in this series, a grittier read than the Rebel Wayfarer’s series, so was really looking forward to this one. And I have to say, it didn’t disappoint. The relationship between the equally strong main characters was well developed and credible, drawing the reader’s sympathy equally to each. Po’Boy we always knew was going to have his own issues to work through, but what he had to face up to was different to what could have been expected. The back story supported the characters’ journey in the way we’ve come to expect from this author, and the overall read was gripping and a page turner from page one. Oh, and I have to mention some of the hottest scenes that I’ve ever read. I can’t recommend this book enough. It could be read on its own, but I would point anyone to reading the first in the series Neither This nor That to fully understand the background and the relationship Po’Boy has with his brothers in the MC, most notably, Twisted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sooooooo addictive!
Reviewed in Australia on September 21, 2017
This might be Twisted's enigmatic sidekick's story, but in true MariaLisa deMora fashion, Po'Boy's portrait is shallow and indistinct on face value - a play of shadow and light that only comes into true focus through the development of the two characters that make him whole. Crissy captures the heart of slick, detached Lewis with one humbling plea that takes her from vulnerable girl to a strong woman asking for what she wants and knowing she can handle what she gets: "Please love me". Not many writers could pull off the dichotomy of a character with the emotional breadth enabling her to battle body issues and openly grieve her dead sister whilst allowing not one but two badass men into her bed and her heart. And Ty / Wrench, whom we met as an angry, jealous friend (wishing for more) to Penny in the first book of the series, is developed into a man capable of conquering personal, societal and club inhibitions and chasing happiness without labels. For all his slickness and bravado, his aloofness and detachment, Po'Boy emerges as the big guy whose strength is only at its greatest when he's happy, and he's only truly happy with these two people he loves at his side... Society and club be damned.
This is a brilliant story that tackles a number of difficult issues with sensitivity and the lightness of touch that distinguishes an awesome author from a good writer. I found it so addicting that I literally couldn't put it down during my long haul flight from Dubai to Melbourne (and am now so sleep deprived I have no idea if I'm making any sense!!).
    Well worth the wait!
