Pretty Little Player (Blackwell-Lyon Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 939 ratings

Bedroom games are fine … but I need a woman who won’t play with my heart.

After years in the military, I’ve faced down a lot of things, and there’s not much I shy away from. Except relationships. Because when you catch your wife in bed with another man, that tends to sour even the most hardened man against women.

When I was hired to keep surveillance on a woman with a checkered past, I went into the job anticipating the worst. But what I found was a woman who turned my head. Who made my blood heat and my body burn. A woman who made me feel alive again.

A woman who was nothing like what I expected, but everything I wanted. A woman who, it turned out, needed my protection. And wanted my touch.

And as the world fell out from under us, and everything I thought I knew shifted, there was only one reality I could hold onto—that the more I got to know her, the more I wanted her.

But if I’m going to make her mine, I’ll have to not only keep her safe, I’ll have to prove to her that I’ve conquered my own fears and doubts. That I’m done looking into the past, and that all I want is a future—with her.

Each Blackwell-Lyon book is a standalone romance with its own HEA!

Review

"Great book! It has everything we need in our romances! Excitement. Sexy guys. Adorable moments." BJ's Book Blog

"Cayden and Gracie's romance is fun, smart and sexy AF. And once the truth is revealed, you'll find yourself rooting for them to find their happily ever after." Bookgasms Book Blog

"The story line is captivating. The relationship between characters is entertaining. AND yes... lots of steamy scenes!" The Haute Bookworm

"I love the maturity of the characters. Yet the vulnerability they show is just as endearing. It makes them relatable even though you have celebrity careers and stalkers thrown into the mix. No matter who you are or what you do you have the same basic feelings, insecurities, struggles, hopes and dreams." Mom's Guilty Pleasure

At first I wasn't too sure about the story line, seemed that Cayden was more damaged than he was even talking about. He did go on and on a bit and I wondered how long that would take. However, it all began to unfold as to the "why" he felt that way and it became interesting to me to see how he would get over his problem. I did like his interaction with Gracie and how the two of them became involved, even if it was fairly fast. The stalker aspect was a good twist and while that problem was, of course, taken care of I believe the story was more about how preconceived notions and feelings can be dealt with and a person can actually grow and learn to love again. At any rate, any time a story can leave me still thinking about it a good while after I finish it tells me it's a well done work. It was a fairly quick read and that was fine. The story would have lacked something if it had dragged on for too long. It worked well and I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

I love the Blackwell Lyon series and Pretty Little Player is an amazing read. It is not only hot but is sweet at the same time. Cayden is a little jaded when it comes to females and relationships. Once you read this you will see why and you really can't blame him for it. As a member of the Blackwell Lyon security he does what ever it takes to find what he needs to for his clients and to keep them safe. Gracie is sweet and you can tell there is a bigger picture to her. And once again when you read this one all will be revealed. I love the chemistry between Cayden and Gracie, you really feel it when they first meet. I so can't wait for more to come in this series.

This is one in a series, but can stand alone. Caydon is a security specialist who takes on a PI case that involves looking into a woman who might be cheating on her fiance'. He finds that she, Gracie, may not be guilty and he may be falling for her. His own past makes it difficult to trust her.
The writing is good, the dialogue entertainment. The storyline is predictable. It was an okay read.

"Even though I know she's some other man's girl - even though I know that she's a Vivien and not a Mona - every second with Gracie is like a bite from a warm cookie. Sweet and delicious and just a little bit bad for me. And you know what? At this point, I don't even care."

I think I'm in love with Cayden Lyon. I just wanted to hug him all the way through this story. So, ladies, I know you're going to feel the same way, so I'm just staking my claim now. Back off. In fact, I'm going to go ahead and claim all the men of Blackwell-Lyon Security!

Cayden Lyon has a bleak outlook on love and relationships. I mean, after coming home from deployment only to find your wife with another man, who wouldn't be a little soured? Just to prove his point, he's handled countless PI cases for clients suspecting their significant other is cheating. More often than not, they probably are. But his latest case will put his theories to the test when he has to do more than just observe from a distance or take some incriminating pictures. No, he'll have to get up close and personal with this one. He expects to find out she's just like all the others - just like Vivien. What he doesn't expect is to fall for her in the process. Is Gracie really the cheater his client has painted her to be, or is there more to his story than he's let on? When Gracie's life is threatened, will Cayden be able to protect her? He just found her - he can't lose her now.

I loved this story!! My heart broke for Cayden and his jaded outlook on finding a happy ever after. As I said earlier, I just wanted to reach inside the story and hug him. But, that eye patch? Gah! So HOT! I adored Gracie! She's strong and confident, and I loved that she carried a little extra padding. Some of us do too, and it was nice to see the "average" woman depicted, and sexy too!

This was a great follow up to Lovely Little Liar and I can't wait to read Connor's story next!!!

After being betrayed in his marriage Cayden Lyon has no confidence in marriage or relationships. So when he is hired to prove to his client that his future fiance has been unfaithful he anticipates the worst. The best way to prove his point is to go undercover. But when he meets the future fiance, Gracie Harmon, she is nothing like what he anticipated.

Gracie Harmon is very much attracted to Cayden Lyon but is very leery of starting any type of relationship due to some past issues. When past issues resurface she decides to go to the Blackwell-Lyon Security firm to hire them. When she learns Cayden's real reason for initially approaching her she is hurt. But when Cayden learns that she wants to hire his firm because she has a stalker that happens to be his client there is no way that he will not protect her.

Meeting Gracie proves to Cayden that there are faithful women out there that you can trust and that she is the one for him.

This is a quick read that starts one way and does a 180 and goes in a totally different direction. There is mystery and intrigue, but ends with a sweet HEA. Well worth reading.

"Pretty Little Player" by J. Kenner is the second book in the Blackwell-Lyon series and can be read as a stand alone. Cayden, having caught his wife cheating, is very distrustful of women. Gracie, a voluptuous model, has a lot of male a lot of male admirers and a stalker. Even though a lot of Cayden and Gracie's "getting to know you" phase was done while Cayden was investigating her, I liked the build up and connection they had. It was a nice but very quick read.

On a side note.....I found it a bit odd that Cayden was kissing Gracie's breast before he actually kissed her.

Great sexy read with a little intrigue for fun. Totally told from the hero's pov, but oddly it didn't bother me the way this style usually does.

Well edited and written. No jarring grammatical issues to pull you out of the story. I'm definitely going hunting for the rest of the series!

This story contained all the elements to make a good, albeit short read. The MCs were likeable, the plot had some suspense, and there was just enough angst with plenty of steamy romance.

Camden is ex military and part owner of a private survalance company ,he’s been hired by a mysterious man to get proof that the guys fiancée is cheeting on him . Gracie Harmon is the fiancée in question , but not all is as it seems as we find out , a little bit of drama towards the end but all in all an enjoyable easy going short story .
