With great power...comes great corruptibility.
Titan is dead. And the world needs heroes more than ever.
Hugo’s dream of becoming a superhero blows up in his face. And the impossible rage that remains pulls him deeper into darkness.
After several successful battles, Greyson’s ragtag team rides a wave of stardom. But what people love more than celebrating their heroes is tearing them down.
And Quinn’s investigation into Titan’s murder gets derailed, leaving her reputation in shambles. But this journalist’s relentless pursuit of the truth could cost more than her job. These strangers are on a collision course with destiny. And each other.
Warning: Contains cursing, mild teen angst, and badass superhero action. If you’re easily triggered by cursing, mild teen angst, or badass superhero action, this novel might not be for you.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed the twists and turns the author can weave seamlessly into their stories. Tons of great foreshadowing so subtle it only hit you well after the reveal. Love the how great this series is so far. The progression of a single character seemed a bit extreme though. It seemed a bit too extreme and rushed to really find itself in a story of this quality, especially compared to the other too. Would have liked to see more nuance but this author is full of positive surprises, so who am I to judge?

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow! To think I almost stopped reading the first book because the pace was to slow. What a mistake that would have been. This blows Age of Heroes away. That was three different people being focused on to eventually merge into one large story.
Quinn, Grayson and Hugo were three unrelated people. Well as the story goes on it fast becomes a small world. Their lives all become intertwined. Monsters Among Men is fast paced and thrilling. I could hardly stop reading. Plenty of curves, twists and turns. A murder mystery thrown in. Lots of supers.
These superheroes aren't like Superman. More like Hollywood and all the dirty little secrets. None of these characters are even close to perfect. They are what superheroes probably would be in real life. Lustful, violent, vicious, conniving. You name it. Is there a hero among them? There is. Not all of these characters are rotten. Quite a lot in this book are though. Some went from good to bad and vice versa. This author shows that having superpowers would be anything but a piece of cake. Already purchased book three.
This was an immensely enjoyable read. I would highly recommend it. If I have any complaint it is the names this author gives some of these people. Some of them just don't seem real. Like a stage name. Anyways if you are into the superhero genre this is an absolute must read. You will not be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseReading a super hero book can be a little juvenile when it comes to character development and motivations. It’s nice to have a realistic character arc. Realistic reactions to trauma and gaining or living with powers. Even the legal ramifications of using your abilities.
Excellent books.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI want to get one thing out of the way up front — C.C. Ekeke is not a great writer. Not even a very good writer, actually. Their first dialogue is often laughably flat, characters’ descriptions are generally adolescent fantasies, and the reader is treated as though we can’t remember a plot point for more than a couple of pages so we’re reminded ... constantly.
All that said ... I LOVE THESE BOOKS! I can’t get enough of them. I got hooked probably about halfway through the first book and have only grown more excited by each new installment.
How do I square these seeming opposites? I don’t think much of Ekeke’s technical skills as a writer. But what a storyteller! The dichotomy was surprising to me, yet there it is. I would heartily recommend these books to anyone who’s able to turn off their inner literary critique and open themselves up to a truly excellent story!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book was simply amazing, I loved the characters and their development, also their flaws being revealed. The author didn't pull in punches on this book, heroes made mistakes, bad choices, as well as being exposed as being human still. The ending was a surprise, I never saw that person as a Super....but I kept thinking something was off about the storyline with her, that was a genius twist. Anyway I'm definitely a new fan of this author and will support him. Thanks
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseReally great to see a young hero come into his powers somewhat, to see the struggle of handling daily life and drama vs the super powered things that are brand new to him. Will he overcome and adapt, or will he wreck his house and maybe the city? You'll have to read to find out! Enjoy the ride!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHad to force myself not to give up until about 60% through the book the jumping around to all storylines was tedious but was glad I stuck with it, I have the whole series to date and will continue to read through them as I’m still interested but maybe take short break in between books, highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars KAPOW
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnd we are back. Who's a goody? Who's a baddie? Who is going to win? And who will lose!
A great set of stories. I think I preferred this to book one. Much as empire was better than a new hope. More grit. More drama. More sacrifice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a 'super' great book.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI wanted to like the book, the first one while somewhat 'young adult' centric still held my attention. But this one just went off the rails, it says there are 'twists', but you can't just totally alter a character and call that a twist. There needs to be plausible reason for a complete 180 in someone's morales and values, completely going against ones character just for the heck of it doesn't make an epic plot twist, it makes it lazy writing. I'm also not sure why the focus on teen romance gods on, I understand it's a part of teenager life, but the author seems REALLY focused on teen romance, including some cradle robbing affair.
This will be the last book I read in the series. Far too many plot holes and implausible actions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseWow.Great book with a good plot. The gold standard for superhero books for me is still
Drew Hayes' Powered books for their depth and maturity. This comes closer than anything I have read so far though.Keep it up Mr Ekeke and let's see where this goes.
