Audiobooks review I love this series and going back and listening to the audiobook after reading the series and revisiting the characters is always a pleasure Narrators Alexander Cendese and JF Harding absolutely scored a complete touchdown with this one on their narration. They were expressive and oh so passionate. Definitely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ on this one!! This is the story of Marcus and Aiden. Ten years between college sweethearts and reuniting in Portland. They both feel they belong together but making it past the pain of the past is the first step. It is also the wedding of Christian and Alex from the Quarterback Keeper , the first book in this series and also is the brother of Aiden. This book was great and the audiobook was amazing. Definitely worth reading and rereading again.

I’m liking this series, but my one complaint about this book in particular is how the authors dealt with (or, really, didn’t deal with) race. It’s not enough (at least for me) to only hint at someone’s skin color as being non-white without recognizing that skin color has meaning and implications in the US, especially in the world of football! I think Marcus was black, but I’m not even sure. It felt like the authors were afraid to make him “too black” so he existed in a (mostly) mysterious body. But I could have gotten this wrong. Maybe it was Jenn who was black? Either way, their child Trent was described as biracial on the 2nd to last page of the book, so someone was something! I think I’m sort of worked up about this, because I’m black and would just like for it not to be a big deal to have characters exist in bodies that aren’t white—and then to let the characters culturally be who they are. I was distracted by this through the whole book.

Aiden and Marcus finally get their happy ending after being separated and miserable for 10 years. A lovely second chance romance.

Pass Interference by Rheland Richmond and Emerson Beckett was all about second chances. This was the second installment in The Package Deal series. The story focused on Aiden and Marcus years after their break-up and the road to their second chance at a happily ever after.

Prior to the focus on the present time events, there's the weird prologues that were divided into various points in time that happened in the past to give the readers some insight to what happened before. I appreciate that a glimpse was provided on past events, but the prologues could've just been one whole thing rather than be divided in the manner it was.

Back to the present, Aiden was still pining after Marcus. Though he was longing for a closure to their relationship after being left years ago, he's not truly over Marcus. For his part, Marcus after the events in his married life decided that he'd do right this time and he'd do his best to win Aiden over and have the happy ending they deserve. He was determined and nothing will stop him from his goal.

Aiden's reaction to trusting again was quite believable though I am side-eyeing the fact that he slept with Marcus just like that after meeting him again after so many years of no communication. Props also to Marcus for being persistent and actually working hard on getting his forgiveness from Aiden. He deserved no less.

I enjoyed the story enough though I wasn't able to connect with the characters. The character development was done nicely and the evolution of the relationship was written alright. The last stretch felt rushed though.

Overall, this would be 3.25 stars out of 5 stars for me.

This was a beautiful, albeit sad love story. Aiden and Marcus had an amazing beginning, a torturous stretch, and a hard fought second chance. I once read in another story the question: Was it possible to grieve someone who was still living? The answer then was very much yes, as it was in this story. The writers captured the emotions in such a real way. You really felt their pain. Dashing off to read the next book in the series.

I’m not sure you could do a second chance trope much better than this! These two guys and that first powerful love manifested beautifully!

Loved this book about second chances. In love in college, Marcus runs scared when his agent tells him he shouldn’t come out for the draft or after, being bi and a rookie in the NFL, wouldn’t be good for his career. 10 long years they didn’t get over each other. Aiden was dumbstruck when Marcus left, they had their life planned and Marcus just left without explanation. Forgiveness was going to be hard to come by. With some interference from Alex and Christian, these two get their second chance.

Aidan met Marcus while in college, Marcus broke Aidan’s heart and for 10 years he regretted it. Once he meets Aidan again he pulls out all the stops to get a second chance with him, because he is the love of his life. Great book, I loved all the characters.

This is Aidan and Marcus' second chance at love.
We know since the final chapters of The Quarterback Keeper that Aidan has always been Marcus' only love.
They met at college and stayed together for three years, they made plans to live their life together once Aidan would become a lawyer and Marcus would get his NFL contract. But Marcus' agent advised him to drop his boyfriend because as a bisexual player he would not have a chance to be traded. So he left Aidan without a word and he just disapperared.

The prologues are hard to read, both of them are devastated and while Marcus tried to move on when he got a reporter pregnant, Aidan never let himself love anyone else. He followed Marcus career and personal life through the news and he actively stayed away from him.

I'm very glad that the authors made Marcus really work to regain Aidan's trust, that he had to beg and plead for months before having his man back.

I love this series and how all the characters interact with each others, how their lives are connected.

I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and I loved it. The narrators made the story even more amazing.

These two together are hot. Their past really did a number on both of them. Marcus had some groveling to do to get Aidan back. They both knew they were meant to be, but they couldn't figure out how to get back to each other, and as time passed, they didn't think it could happen. I love their story. They went through so much. I really hope we get little pieces of their lives later.

💕 I spent the first part of the book in anguish for Aidan’s pain. Wishing for happiness for him, knowing that 10 years later, he still couldn’t get over Marcus. He was angry with him but also couldn’t stop loving him.
But, this is a happily ever after story. So naturally, Marcus couldn’t move on from Aidan either, despite having tried. And try, he did.
I’m the end, they decided to put the past behind them and not let more time be wasted, when they both knew they were meant to be.
A true sequel to a the Quarterback’s Keeper, I highly recommend reading that one first.
