Playing Our Song Kindle Edition
Jase’s boyfriend’s hostility has increased toward him, making their relationship toxic, but too focused on his band, Jase lets it slide, causing him to almost miss out on the kind of love that lives in his fantasies.
Garrett made a promise to his brother when he passed. But a mistake in its interpretation almost causes Garrett to live out his brother’s dream instead of reaching for his own.
Can these men spot and remove the obstacles stopping them from making beautiful music together before it’s too late?

About the author

LA writes m/m romance with a splash of suspense. She loves her men to work hard, play hard and love hard. It doesn’t matter what their walk of life, although she has a special place in her heart for Military heroes, trouble always seems to find them—whether it’s a homicidal maniac, someone with a grudge against the country, or an ex who’s seeking out revenge—LA’s guys aren’t always faced with just fighting for love, they often have to fight for their lives.
LA has always lived in the North East and has recently stretched her boundaries and moved further North—the more relaxed life style giving her more time to write—in theory anyway.
Among the things she loves besides writing and her family are her friends, those she writes with and those she writes about, reading, games (the kind with boards, not in love), playing poker, her dogs, Nutella and Bok Choy, and of course, the men and women from the Military, past and present, who keep us safe.
When she finds herself stuck at the keyboard, her fingers refusing to move, her characters refusing to talk, she likes to take a break, blast some music, and dance like no one is watching her or sing her heart out into her hairbrush microphone.
She’s living her happily ever after and wants the same for all her characters.
LA believes love comes in all different packages and each should be wrapped in a ribbon and cherished.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2021Format: KindleI love books with a rich/poor guy, prince/pauper, or famous/unknown guy trope so Playing Our Song was perfect. Jase was well-known and Garrett not so much, but they fit together beautifully. The author portrayed the characters wonderfully so I felt like I really got to know them, and I liked both characters, even if Jase did frustrate me at the beginning by being so gullible and then later by being so oblivious. Once Jase and Garrett got together, it was steamy.
Another thing I like is when a book has a character like Andrew. That character that I love to hate, want to smack constantly, and can't wait to see them get what they deserve. I'd have liked a bit more development in this area so that the retribution matched the actions.
I enjoyed several characters in this book. Garrett's character is really likable and I liked seeing him realize his own dreams. Jase and the other band members are all so relatable and down to earth, without the rockstar attitudes. Also, I am intrigued by Ryan and some of his interactions with Garrett. It'd be nice to see a story for him.

This was a touching, slow burn friends to lovers romance. Both Jase and Garrett have some issues... Jase is stuck in a horrible relationship at the beginning of this book, oblivious would be a good word to describe why he's stayed for this long and taken such poor treatment. Garrett has heavy baggage with the loss of his brother trying to keep a dream alive, never thinking of himself. Together these guys find a friendship bond through music that is truly beautiful to read. This is a very slow burn but I promise the end is soooo worth the wait, these guys...how they love each other will melt your heart!!!! I would defiantly recommend this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2021Format: KindleJase and Garrett are wonderful characters that deserve the best. You are rooting for them and your heart breaks when theirs do.
Jase is famous, but missing a personal connection. His boyfriend is a jerk and I wanted to punch him in the face so much for all the garbage that he pulls. Garrett is handling loss his own way and singing songs for the locals to pay homage to the one that he has lost.
These two connect on so many levels and are perfect for each other, even when they aren't trying to be. They hit some rough patches, but friendship is an amazing gift and it just needs to be nourished.
I enjoyed this story and it kept my attention. It could be a bit repetitive on some things, but it makes up for it. You should check it out and see these two find their place in life and with each other.
I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest and voluntary opinion and review of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2021Format: KindleJase and Garrett are brought together threw their love of music.
Jase is in a bad relationship at the moment and Garrett doesn't want to start anything other than friendship. The two become fast friends and write music as they learn more about each other.
Things change, life moves at a steady pace and all the love comes shining threw. Beautifully writing with some anguish and lots of hope. This beautiful story is not to be missed!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021Format: KindleBeautiful slow-burn friendship to a love story that will touch your heart. Garrett and Jase learn to really like each other and they take is slow after Jase and his toxic relationship end. Garrett wants to be seen for himself and not be a rebound and I love that as Jase grows and learns about real love he sees Garrett for the jewel that he truly is. Both men are really talented and together they create magic. I also enjoyed the other members of the band and Ryan, Garrett's friend.
Both men have a bit of self awareness and growth as they find their way to each other. Garrett has to find his own dream and Jase has to determine real friendship and passion. I enjoyed how these guys found their footing and each other. The ending is just really beautiful and will make you smile.
I was gifted this book from Gay Romance Reviews and i freely give my honest opinion and review
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2021Format: KindleA slow build up to the romance but in the meantime you get to know the two heroes, Jase and Garrett. Jase’s relationship with Andrew was about as toxic as one can get. Frankly, this author created a character you couldn’t help but dislike as you were warming up to Jase. Garrett and Jase’s situation as friends working together was warm and enjoyable. All the while the heat is simmering underneath but with the loyalty of faithfulness. Once the toxicity was removed it wasn’t long before the love story came into play but not without the drama that taunts all relationships, from time to time. This was another engaging situation but with a happiness that finally found our heroes. An engaging and quite enjoyable story. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021Format: KindleI was drawn to this book for the tropes, and they don’t disappoint— this story offers a thoughtful take on the slow burn, with the added bonus of a famous/non-famous pairing. While sometimes Jase’s gift for not seeing the obvious was a bit frustrating, by and large, I really liked the protagonists, and enjoyed going along on their journey, which involved plenty of emotions. There were times that felt a bit meandering, or where the narrative seemed to dwell in and/or revisit things already covered— the flip side to this critique, of course, is the chance to spend more time with the characters, which is no bad thing.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2021Format: KindleThis is an angsty little tale of two musicians from very different classes and life experiences. We have a bit of a rich man poor man here. Jase is in a very toxic relationship and needs inspiration to write music. He teams up with Garrett and they inspire each other. It is a slow burn as Garrett and Jace work together and become close. Jase is in a bit of a denial of his situation and Garrett wants to be loved for what he actually means to Jase, not just a rebound or crutch. I received an ARC of this book, and it really is a very emotional but inspirational romance about love and music!
