This Chicken took a chance
This series is so much fun. By Mistake was my first read by Sigal Ehrlich and I was in love with the book by the end of the first chapter. When someone is looking for recommendations this series is always on the top of my list. You don't need to read book one to enjoy By Chance but as the characters are intertwined and you get a glimpse of the chemistries beginnings my thoughts are it's even more enjoyable with book one read. Victoria wants everyone to think she's got herself all out together and she does professional she can take down any man. But personally she tries to navigate her love life like a business because without maintaining that control she'd have to admit her feelings. Which I'll let you read about those. Patrick well he's an artist and wow does he make Vic feel and she hates it, but she also loves it. One things for certain though she can't seem to control it. And Ricky well he just wants to show her they can be together despite everything if she would just give them a chance. There are so many obstacles Vic herself being on of the biggest. But there will be plenty of lighthearted and fun moments to, if you haven't met the Chickens yet you are in for a real treat. Otherwise known as Anna, Kayla, Pandora and of course Victoria. Did you know Cow Cuddling was a thing? I didn't, so reading this book I learned something new as well. Seriously though I can not wait for book 3 By Fate I already know it will be amazing. 💙🐤🐄 I have voluntarily left this review.

    Just finished reading by Chance by Sigal Ehrlich. This is book 2 of the Poison & Wine collection. Can't wait for the next book to be released. Book 2 was Victoria and Ricky's story. As far as characters go, I liked Ricky more than Victoria. Victoria grew on me as the book progressed but I never felt like I connected with her. The story was good and held my interest. I think I liked the first book in the series a little more but this book also warrants a 5 star rating. Very enjoyable.

    by Chance is an entertaining read for several reasons, but perhaps mentioning the animated cover of this rom-com with a difference would be a good start. Not a lover of the graphic art look, I like this one a lot. It’s sassy—it’s Victoria Nielsen to a tee!

    ‘The Chickens’ are back in book two of the Poison and Wine series! This group of friends support one another through thick and thin and don’t mess around when it comes to letting their hair down, either. I couldn’t help laughing while observing them in their rather unusual get-togethers. So, for those of you who haven’t met the gals in by Mistake, don’t fret! Ehrlich has penned their stories in such a way that each book stands alone.

    I had to give Patrick Hart, aka Ricky, his due. Regardless of the setbacks, he’ll do his best to convince Vicky that he is the one. Whilst I liked her business-first attitude and ambitiousness, I couldn’t have been happier when she eventually saw Ricky for who he is. But will he rock her world? Rock pun intended because we’re talking about a crooner that makes the ladies go weak at the knees!

    Life’s curveballs always have a way of surprising. A contract with a bottom-line, a chance to go it alone, but—there’s a connection that neither Ricky nor Vicky could ever have imagined. Say no more! Now the fun begins. Ooh, boy! I’m not sure what I would have done if I’d been in their shoes. But one thing’s for sure, Ricky doesn’t want to turn down this opportunity of a lifetime and Vicky—well, she has to do what she’s gotta do.

    Ehrlich has not only gone all out with the plot and character development, but the social media take on the story is fascinating. How it could affect one’s success, how statements or uploaded pics are more than often misconstrued, and how online dating is put into perspective. I truly liked this aspect as it made me sit back and think.

    What I wasn’t so keen on were the protagonists’ shortened names. They rhymed too much for my liking; however, Ricky’s a loveable chap, and in my book, he couldn’t put a foot wrong. Vicky—there were times when she tested my patience. It’s not a fast road, but what I liked more about their story were the surprises, playful banter and goodness me, can the author write steamy scenes or what!

    Although I’m not a huge fan of rockstar romances, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ricky and Vicky’s story. And Kyla’s? I cannot wait to find out what is in store for her in by Fate.

    I wasn’t sure what to expect in BY CHANCE because I don’t really like the rock star romance trope and I didn’t like Vicky much from BY MISTAKE. So why did I even try reading this book? I love Sigal Ehrlich’s writing, and I loved the “Chickens”.

    I wasn’t disappointed. As is often the case, when secondary characters become the main character, we see them in a different light. In Vicky’s case, her Barbie doll image made her the perfect partner for the rock star, Ricky. We usually expect the rock star to be the player and the lady to be smitten, but in BY CHANCE, it is the opposite.

    I liked it so much because of the subtle humor but more because Ricky would not let himself be a rock star cliche. The romance feels so “made for each other”.

    When reading this book I was a little lost. Even though it is a standalone, a lot of previous characters are mentioned. I feel like I missed or did not understand a lot of the inside jokes. Especially because there seemed to already be a relationship or something going on with Vicky and Rick before this book.
    Vicky and Rick have mutual friends and have dancing around the idea of a relationship for a while now. Just when the two decide to give each other a real chance, Rick gets the opportunity of a lifetime to fulfill his dreams of being a rock star.
    This book was also slow since neither wanted to truly admit feelings for one another but it picked up again towards the ending.

With Vicky and Ricky they both want each other but are afraid of what could happen to the current life they have. This story takes you through many twist and turns but is overall a love story that keeps you interested. It was a good story. Now just waiting for the next book so I can see what happens in Kaylas life.
