Prince of L.A. (FBI Files Book 1) Kindle Edition
If he could only forget he was sired by a monster.
Former Marine Staff Sergeant, Max Prince, leads by example. Whether it means protecting men in battle, working for the US Marshal service, or being the best damn field agent the FBI has ever seen, he brings a special kind of bravery to the job. His teammates depend on his ready smiles, his funny jokes, and know him as the excellent agent he’s proven to be. They never see the man who buried his heart eight years ago.
The last thing he wants is to fall for the new guy.
When a serial killer suddenly starts targeting innocents, both men have trouble pinning down who they’re dealing with. With victimology all over the place, Leo can’t make sense of a profile, and Max simply wants to put the bastard away before he murders anyone else. The case is maddening but worse, the attraction the two men find every time they look at each other, is beginning to get in the way.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2022This is the first time reading anything from this author, and I must say that I am impressed with her storytelling.

I was satisfied with the book and the ending. I also like the shocking twist in the storyline as well.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2022Never having read anything by this author I can’t tell if writing an ensemble piece is her way of introducing the characters from this new series or not. There are many people to get to know in this first book although the romance is centered on Max and Leo. I get the feeling that many of these people were from former books such as the ATF agents, maybe the LAPD officers and probably others. I like that Ms. Logan has a few straight couples among the many gay partners. It makes for a more realistic “world.”
SAC Lincoln Snow has pulled together a formidable team of FBI agents for his field office, two of which are Max and newcomer, Leo. Leo has a secret that he is aware could make his presence on the team odd but he is an outstanding FBI Profiler and his skills are needed for this latest case. The crimes are heinous and performed by despicable people. Can Max and Leo’s team catch the culprits before more innocents are killed?
Lots of secondary characters too like Flay who is hilarious or Ashley’s tragic circumstances or Bruce which is Max’s portly pet bulldog. The romance between Max and Leo is a slow-build affair but wait for the inevitable steam between them. Definitely worth the wait. The end was a nail-biter. The next book is about Leo again, which somewhat surprised me. I assume that book will follow the new relationship between Max and Leo maybe. Not sure, but I really do want to read it now. If you like thrilling mysteries with gay romance, read this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through Gay Romance Reviews.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2022Prince of L.A. is the first book in the new series FBI Files by Patricia Logan.
Leo Reeves was newly trasferred to the L.A. office of the FBI. Assigned to the team led by Lincoln Snow, he was immediately called into the action when their team was invited by the LAPD to help investigate what looked like a murder committed by a serial killer. Here he met Max Prince another member of the team. The two hit it off and their attraction for each other was undeniable. Both men have their own baggages they need to work through and some of it resurfaced during the course of the case.
The case in general was interesting and the team dynamics well-written. I enjoyed the interactions and banter between the characters. Each character including the supporting ones have some really unique personality though they do fall into certain archtype. There were some inconsistencies in the plot and mystery that could've been fixed with a bit of editing.
The romantic relationship falls into the friends to lovers trope with instant attraction thrown in. I did like how Max and Leo's relationship developed. It's low angst but the chemistry is there.
Overall, the book was still entertaining. I'm still curious about the next installment for this series.
I'm giving it 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2023I think this new series will be as well over as the other series! These characters are awesome and I look forward to the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2022It wasn’t a bad read by any means. It was interesting and a good read to pass some time. I can’t say I was really fully drawn into the characters and hooked that I wanted to read it as fast as possible but I still enjoyed it either way.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2022I seriously cannot understand why I can't have more stars for this beauty!
Max and Leo are new partners in the FBI and they are in a special unit lead by Lincoln Snow!
The unit hits the ground running with a horrible murder right off and Max and Leo become fast friends. As it all comes together we get a glimpse of Jarrett and Thayne and the other ATF operatives also.
And the best part is that we will get more in this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2022A different kind of series for me from the author but I am glad I dove in. Max Prince and new partner Leo Reeves can’t fight their attraction to each other. Working together to solve a serial killer case, they find themselves giving into the attraction. I am looking forward to the next book.
Please note that this book takes place over about 5 days, so no HEA, but it is implied that will occur.

3.0 out of 5 stars FBI Gay Suspense Romance Mystery!
My rating - 3 stars.
First time reading by this author and I found lots of errors and wrong names mentioned in quite a few places taking my interest away from the book.
I almost gave up reading after the first two chapters but kept going, curious to know what was coming next as books about FBI, Detectives, and Profilers, are always interesting to read when well written and I have read a lot of books in this genre by some very great writers.
Leo's character drew my interest right from the beginning and wanted to know how he would help in solving the crimes being a world-famous profiler. How his life is affected by his family background and will it affect his daily life and his job? I felt for him and his lost childhood.
Max Prince too had his good points throughout the book. I loved that he was ex-military and a tough Alpha male with a kind heart. His love for his dog drew me in completely.
I am going to read the next two books in this series which are already on my Kindle, and I understand there is a fourth one in the series too. I am not giving up on this author completely as I found the storyline interesting, but also found the mention of crimes against humanity a bit gory and disturbing. It felt like the people involved were not human at all. I only hope the crime against innocent people and the ugliness of a human mind at work in the next two books are not repulsive as the first one. I don't know if I will be able to take it.

5.0 out of 5 stars hearts on fire
Woah Leo and Max are hot and after 2 days they seem all in. The disgusting criminals they are chasing down bring them closer and the team all seem amazing. Both men have huge pasts their trying to move on from. The ending was brilliant. Can’t wait to read book 2

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read thriller
A decent standard thriller and an easy read. I did have a problem with the beginning of the story. It felt very rushed, and also with Leo, who seemed to fancy every guy he spotted from the word go. I especially disliked his reaction to said other guys, whilst attending the scene of a particularly brutal murder, of a child no less! This struck me as somewhat off. There are a great many characters included, lots of them. It felt a little overcrowded at times, a case of 'too many cooks... ' and all that. This may because of it being the beginning of a new series, and Ms Logan wanting to introduce us to as many of the protagonists as possible. But I must admit I found it a little overwhelming, and for me, caused Max and Leo's characters to be underdeveloped , when they should have been out there in the forefront of things.
