Private Charter Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,519 ratings

Stuart Jenner’s job is high stress, high stakes, and everything he’s strived for. So why, when the apex of his career is within reach, does he stumble? At his doctor’s insistence, he books a privately chartered yacht to sail around the Whitsundays for two weeks of sun, surf, and sex. When his friend-with-benefits bails on him at the last minute, Stuart decides to go alone.

Foster Knight left the rat race behind six years ago, bought a yacht, and now calls the Great Barrier Reef his home. Sailing tourists around tropical waters is all in a day’s work, and he’s never been happier. When his next client arrives alone, the two-week charter will be the most private job he’s ever had. Foster can see how stressed and exhausted Stuart is, and he promises him extensive rest and relaxation.

Stuart slowly realises his original plan for two weeks of sun, surf, and sex might not be lost yet. Confined to a yacht, isolated by aqua-coloured oceans and the sweltering sun, Stuart and Foster are about to find out just how hot the tropics can get.

I found this book as I kicked around Amazon. I was looking for a comfortable but short novella. I flicked over this a few times, thinking it was too long for what I wanted, but the cover and blurb kept telling me to grab it. Something nice set in my country in a beautiful part of the world - Cairns, the Whitsundays, Great Barrier Reef up to Port Douglas and Daintree National Park - is not hard to take.

I am so glad I grabbed this book. So glad.

The writing was impeccable, the story quiet but emotional, and the MCs had depth and a powerful chemistry that built as the story was told. It's hard to paint a confident, assertive person on page without making them appear arrogant or rude. It would be so easy to have Stuart come across as one-dimensionally arrogant but the author draws a believable vulnerability and genuineness about him along with the confidence he would need for his career. Likewise, Foster could have been too nice, there is such a thing in books, but he's this very easy going, self-possessed, water-loving, and kind Aussie guy. He was utterly loveable and sincere.

    The book is hot. Scorching.

The food has a life of it's own, we love a bit of simple and fresh fusion-cuisine here.

The setting around the inlets and coves and islands, the reef and sandy beaches, made me want to go back. It is that beautiful, the ocean/sea that clear and that blue, one that truly does defy a word on the colour palette.

The dual POV moved the book along at a good clip and even though this is a character driven romance, complete with HEA and an aww-worthy epilogue, the book has excellent emotional depth.

Stuart likes the idea of a game to get the sexy captain to have sex with him. It can't hurt to have a holiday fling, Stuart does flings just fine, but Foster joins in after some professional soul-searching. He gives a lot of himself to the game as well, which makes it sexier and adds a necessary spark, an incendiary one.

White Speedos are like another character in the book.

'I swam up to the yacht, took the ladder in both hands, and hauled myself out of the water, slow step by slow step. He watched every movement and let out a slow breath when I sat right next to him. So maybe the white Speedos weren’t such a bad idea after all because he drank in every part of me.'

'White Speedos. Tiny white Speedos at that. Why did he have to wear them, of all things? I don’t care how many linings they had, those tight white swimmers barely concealed anything. And as if they weren’t revealing enough when dry, but wet? I could see everything. Every line, every vein, every single thing.'

'Then he undid his towel completely, revealing his bulge. He opened his eyes, just to watch me watch him. Then he ever so slowly rolled over, lifted his hips, and readjusted his dick, then lowered himself back down and spread his legs. Damn.'

General quotes to give you a feel -

'I also had the feeling that if we’d met under different circumstances, in a bar or at work, Stuart and I could be friends. I liked him. His gorgeous looks, killer smile, and heart-stopping eyes aside, he was a nice guy.'

'I’d put my cards on the table. Laid them out for all to see. Hell, I’d basically offered myself up on a freaking platter. I’d clarified if he was single, if he was interested, if he was willing… He just needed to establish himself as player two in this game.'

'He was goading me. And teasing and flirting with zero shame. He smirked. He licked his lips, sliding his tongue out provocatively. His eyes were full of heat and dare. I was in a permanent state of semi-arousal around him, as though my dick knew where it wanted to go.'

'Because back home, even surrounded by hundreds of people, associates, colleagues, I was always alone. But out here I wasn’t. It was quite ironic that in the open vastness of the Coral Sea and the Pacific Ocean, I’d never felt more not-alone.'

'On land, there were people about without a care in the world, walking, some jogging, some strolling along with dogs or pushing prams. Palm trees swayed like my world wasn’t ending.
    Like my heart wasn’t breaking.'

Definitely one of my favourites this year. Great gay romance reading,

4 stars!! 💕💘 Loved it! It was a perfect read for me this week with its steamy romance, adorable MCs, low angst plot, easy going but sassy banter and such a vivid description of sailing around the Great Barrier Reef that it left me craving for sandy beaches and summer holidays.. 😓. It warmed my heart, despite the deep freeze of Jan weather here ❄️🌨
Stuart a high powered analyst in the world of corporate finance has been looking forward to a two week vacation on a private yacht around the Great Barrier Reef. When his vacation companion/friend-with-benefits cancels on him at the last minute, he decides to go ahead with his planned R&R on his own. The yacht captain and tour-guide Foster sees himself from about 10 years ago in Stuart and decides to show him a good time.. and soon that good time turns into some sexy time too as they do some sight-seeing, swimming, snorkeling and lots of drinking 🔥😉😳💕. As the vacation time winds down, it becomes harder for both to deny their growing feelings for each other. But Stuart's life is in the corporate world and Foster cannot stop him from leaving... or can he? 🤔
The story is romantic, steamy, light and mostly angst-free with awesome descriptions of scenic locales, add to that the epilogue which is super-sweet and you have a perfect book. Highly recommended 👍

Breathtaking!!! This beautiful work of fiction tore me open and filled me up! The give and take between Stuart and Foster riveting! All I could see was bright sunshine and blue waters. The stunning visuals crashed into my brain, pulling me further and further out to sea. And the two protagonists are so effortlessly sexy. Stuart, so tightly wound is painful. You can feel it. Foster just exudes gentle, kind vibes that seduce Stuart. It doesn't hurt that they're drop dead gorgeous. 😁 Another gem to add to your library! I couldn't put it down. Thank you N. R. Walker for once again shifting my consciousness in a sensual, sleek tale if love and how fast we can fall! Eh...we are only human...right?! I absolutely recommend this delicious telling of the human condition and no matter hos different we think we are...we are not so very different at all!!!😘

5.0 out of 5 stars Love a sweet cruise
Reviewed in Italy on May 4, 2019
Of course I love N.R. Walker's books and this one is definitely worth it. This is a sweet and cute love story, started as a fling between Stuart, the over stressed guy ready for a well deserved vacation in the sun and in the ocean away from the rest of the world and from his life at home and job mostly, and Foster, the sailing man that left that stressful life for taking tourists around the Great Barrier Reef on his private yacht. Stuart arrives alone, after his hook up Jason decided to avoid him, and the all relationship starts very slowly but it soon became very steamy and hotty between the two men and what starts mostly as an adventure, became an incredible romantic relationship, where feelings are well involved. But Stuart still wants to come back to his old life because he believes he doesn't have the courage to leave... maybe the right man could make him change his mind.

Definitely worth it, I would recommend it!

This book certainly made me want to own a yacht like the White Knight and sail around the Whit Sundays, mind the Greek islands would do too. The feeling of freedom it evoked were powerful and I certainly wanted to be there (humidity aside).
This is another Walker great read (does she do bad reads?), with not a huge amount of angst in this one, just the powerful story of Foster and Stuart, two men from similar how-powered backgrounds who meet on the turquoise seas of the Australian east coast and fall in love. Interestingly, there few other characters in the book as most of it was just Foster & Stuart out at sea and this allowed you to get to know both men and as you got both perspectives, you saw how they were falling for each other, without wanting to admit it.
For me it wasn't quite a five star read because of the ending (I'd like a firmer one!) and the actions of Foster towards Stuart at the end (I'd have liked Stuart to make that decision on his own). However, for the ability to paint such a wonderful picture of life on a yacht, it's another cracking Walker read.

Such a great, low angst, light summer read. Loved the progression of the relationship. The characters had depth though we didn’t get a lot of history, it was clear what made them tick. The slow burn of their attraction building was enough to keep me reading. This was my first book from this author but I’ll definitely look for more. This story was right on the money for what I was looking for.

Loved it! N.R.Walker has a gift. She creates great stories and characters. Foster and Stuart fit together so well, they're simply made for each other. I loved every second of this book and the ending! Only thing I was missing, the ILY's, but oh well...
I could see the ocean, the reef and the yacht and just the overall feel of the Australian coast. Makes me want to travel there asap! With Foster and Stuart please. :)
If you want to read something light, to take you away from every day life or just try N.R. Walkers work, this is the book!
