Pumped: An MM Enemies to Lovers Romance (Mars Fitness Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 247 ratings

Love is co-parenting with my worst enemy.

Owen
Everest is an irresponsible, delinquent, attention-hungry man-child.

Ever since my brother married his sister, we’ve hated each other with an unrelenting passion. It was bad enough when I had to see him at occasional family gatherings, but now I’m living in a nightmare and he’s right here with me.

Everest
Owen is arrogant, uptight, snobby, and cold-hearted.

I don’t want to have anything to do with him, but I don’t have a choice. After a tragic accident, we’re forced to raise our niece together, but our grief and mutual animosity is turning the house into a pressure cooker. We have to make peace and learn to work together, if not for our sake, then for the little girl who’s already lost everything.

PUMPED is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract MM romance between a free-spirited personal trainer and his overbearing veterinarian brother-in-law. Expect reluctant cuddling, teasing as a love language, annoyingly hot backwards caps, pillow chastity barriers, pool wrestling, begrudging I love yous, and a little girl who has them both wrapped around her little finger. PUMPED is the third and last book in the Mars Fitness series, but can be read as a standalone.

    Enemies to lovers
    Forced proximity
TW: death of siblings / grief

This book was so good. I cried multiple times. It was touching and beautifully written.

Everest and Owen are siblings to Eden and Jeremy (respectively) who are married. They are uncles to Ivy. They pretty much do not get along because Everest thinks Owen has a stick up his butt and Owen thinks Everest is childish and unreliable.

When the unthinkable happens, they are forced together to raise Ivy. It’s rough at first because Everest is all heart(emotional) and Owen is all brain (logical).

My heart broke for the both of them and especially for Ivy. I cried reading their confusion and their grief. Though Owen and Everest essentially hated each other, they realized no one understood what they were currently going thru more than each other. They started relying on one another, being vulnerable and honest with each other. Showing sides to each other they had never seen before.

Raising Ivy in their siblings house and trying to learn how to parent, how to rely on someone else, realizing they don’t have to do everything themselves. The growth was amazing.

Owen needed Ev to make him realize he could relax. And Ev needed Owen to be serious every now and then. I loved the both of them though Owen’s animosity in the beginning was rough to read. I jumped to this one but I’m going back to read the others in the series.

I loved the connection and heat between Everest and Owen. These two are simply amazing. Beautiful writing to a very enjoyable read, one had me crying more than once, but it is so worth it.

This was an angsty but emotionally satisfying love story. Nothing was over the top. All the situations ring true, and all the emotions feel genuine. The characters grow naturally and deeply. It is simply a beautiful romance that was expertly written.

4.5 - This is the third and last book in the Mars Fitness series and I am sad it's over, but not sad to have visited! This is the story of Everest, fitness trainer at Mars, and Owen, a veterinarian, who become brothers-in-law when their sister and brother, respectively, tie the knot. These men have a hot and steamy night while at Jeremy's (the brother) bachelor party when Everest is 21 and Owen is just a bit older. And so their enmity begins and is fostered through all the family get togethers throughout the intervening years after Jeremy and Eden's marriage and the birth of their daughter Ivy. TBH, I never quite understood why Owen hated Everest so much because it seems more like personality conflicts and maybe jealousy that Everest seemed so carefree? IDK. Regardless, it makes for a super awkward time when the two of them are both left with custody of Ivy in the wake of a tragedy. They move in together to raise Ivy and for both Everest and Owen, we feel their grief and sense of loss deeply - given that I have recent personal experience in this matter, this felt pretty real to me. Everest and Owen are forced to be together in close quarters and over time, as they negotiate how to raise Ivy, how to live together, how to understand each other, their underlying and ever-present attraction bubbles over and feelings develop. My favorite moments are when both Everest and Owen separately come to realize the state of their feelings for the other - the internal monologues are so well done and tender. The moms were good side characters and it was great to see the other Mars boys too. And the steam - wow! I was not expecting Owen to be quite like that and I was so here for all the spice! Overall, this was an emotional and steamy read that I enjoyed a lot.

    3.5 Stars

This is book three of the Mars Fitness series. I read it as a standalone, and did not have any trouble following the characters.

Initially, I couldn’t put the story down. Jeremy and Eden have a beautiful little girl, Ivy, and a storybook life. Jeremy’s brother, Owen, is very opposite, extremely intense, and rigid in his lifestyle. Eden, who is very practical, loves her brother Everest, who is more into having a good time.

Tragedy strikes in the very early pages, causing Ivy to be an orphan. This was heart-wrenching. Everest and Owen have an extremely hostile relationship. Their interpersonal connection is very complex and, at times, confusing. They are given joint custody in raising Ivy, with the expectation that they will live in Jeremy’s and Eden’s homes. Since the couple really had their act together, it seemed odd they would name both brothers who openly hated each other for years. They simply can’t agree on anything. Who would surprise or expect someone to drop their lives and do this without asking them first if they are okay with this arrangement?

I might have been able to overlook that, but Owen and Everest together just didn’t seem to work. Even when they connected on an intimate level, It felt off. Everest became likable and had the most growth. Once I finished the book, I realized while Owen constantly internalized his feelings about Everest, he did very little to express them to him. If something went wrong, Owen became very nasty, and went for the jugular. Everest wasn’t perfect, but I felt he deserved better treatment.

The men were sweet with Ivy even though there were many moments filled with angst. The writing was excellent, and I enjoyed all the side characters. I just couldn’t get past my dislike of Owen. Hopefully, the story will work better for others. Happy reading.

If you decide to read this book keep a box of tissues handy. Ivy the six year old niece is left to her uncles when her parents pass away in a tragic accident. Ev & O (Ivy’s nicknames for her uncles) have a hate relationship with each other until they are forced to live together while parenting their niece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be ready for heat, passion and some crying

Just a warning, you may need Kleenex when reading this book. It had me crying, laughing and everything in-between.

This is one of the sweetest enemies to co-parents to lovers' books I have read. I wish I could grant it more than five (5) stars.

Owen and Everett are brothers-in-law (Owen's brother married Everett's sister).

At first, they can't stand each other. Owen thinks Everett is a man who goes through life with no cares in the world. Everett thinks Owen is a stuffy older man.

When their siblings die in an accident, they are left to raise their niece Ivy together. They need to learn to rely on each other and work together for the sake of Ivy.

As they join forces to raise their niece, they also find that they do have things in common and start to really like each other. As per one of my favourite quotes from the book, "he is strong, the way a reed bends in the wind but does not break. He's steady like a songbird who will always bring joy."

Owen and Everett, and little Ivy, stole my heart and I was drawn to their story from the first to the very last paragraph.

I have really enjoyed reading about the men, and their significant others, that work at MARS Fitness and hope to read about their further adventures from time to time. It is sad to see them go.

There were moments that had me crying my eyes out, and then there were moments where I was zooming through because the inner monologue stuff dragged on a little bit in parts. Overall, worth reading.

I have read (and loved) all Linden’s books - but this one is next level. I adored the book! The enemies to lovers was excellent. The love felt for Ivy, the way they worked through everything - I really just enjoyed this. Definetly mind the triggers as this one centres around grief.
