From the Author

Welcome to the Stone Society. I have always been fond of Gargoyles, so when I decided to write a paranormal series, it only made sense that I chose them as my shifters. Please note that Rafael is the first book in a new world, so I have included a lot of information. I introduce you to quite a few characters as well as giving the background as to why this new world came about. This is Rafael and Kaya's story, and they do get their HEA, but theirs isn't the only story introduced.
You will continue to enjoy Rafael and Kaya in the books to come. Each couple gets their HEA while the storyline arcs through each book.

****I’d like to preface my review by telling you I am not a fan of paranormal, or at least I wasn’t until I read Rafael.****

The safety of New Atlanta and in-fact the world rests in the hands of the protectors, the shifters, the Goyles. Rafael Stone, has gladly accepted his role as leader of the Gargoyles. In doing so, he became comfortable with his life of solitude, resigned to the fact that his chances of finding a mate were slim and none. His life was full, he had his brothers, cousins, and his work.
Kaya Kane grew up knowing that she would follow in her father’s footsteps and become a police officer. She dreamt of bringing law and order to the chaos that was her hometown of New Atlanta. As Police Chief, Kaya lived her professional life in a man’s world, making it hard for the men she associated with to see her as anything but their superior. They certainly didn’t see her as a beautiful, sensual woman.
When the bodies of several murdered dignitaries are discovered in a warehouse owned by Rafael Stone, the worlds of Kaya and Rafael collide. While investigating the murders, Chief Kane comes face to face with the reclusive Mr. Stone. From their very first communication, Rafe knows there is something different, special, about Kaya. She stirs something in him that has him needing to learn more about this beautiful, and powerful protector of the people. Never having seen Rafe, Kaya does not know what to expect. She is surprised when she finds a gorgeous man, who just happens to cause her body to come alive with a mere brush against her skin. Little does she know he holds a secret hundreds of years old. The immediate chemistry between the two is palpable. There is no way Rafe can ignore the draw he has to her. Is it possible? Could she be his mate?
During the investigation it becomes apparent that the murders were not random, not even politically motivated. They were personal! The mastermind behind the murders has an agenda based on old grievances. He has come back to New Atlanta to find what was taken from him and take revenge on those that took it. Will Chief Kane’s digging put her in the sights of the madman reigning fear over her city? Will Rafe and his clan be able to protect her and the residents of New Atlanta? Only time (and reading the book) will tell.
Rafael is the first paranormal book written by Faith Gibson. As an avid reader, fan of the genre and talented story teller, Faith has painted a wonderfully exciting portrait of these sexy shifters, and the times in which the reside. Throughout the book, my emotions mimicked those of the Goyles. When they were fearful or angry, i was feeling it with them. While at the same time, my blood heated when the pent up desires and passions were revealed.
As with her previous books, Fatih has the ability to tell a story that captures the reader. But this time, she invites us into her imagination as we take flight with Rafael and the Stone Society to watch over the residence of New Atlanta.
***I received an ARC for an honest review.

This book hooked me from the beginning BUT I quickly began to lose interest. All in all I would say only half of the story is actually about the H and h. Scattered throughout and in very random places are lots of new characters and story lines and new mates. It was kind of hard to follow from one paragraph to the next at times with how the stories flowed. It was almost like the author had to many ideas jumbled in her head and needed to just get them all down on paper without that seamless flow or explanation s. I almost stopped reading this many times but unfortunately once I start a book I have to finish! There was also a lot of this book that felt rushed and unexplained. And if your expecting the advertised "HOT" sex...well it doesn't happen until almost 3/4 of the way into the book and isn't as hot as I was expecting...nothing more then what I read in any other romance novel and fairly tame compared to others. All in all 3 stars for an intriguing book idea and it does set up for future books. But again, I do wish this romance novel had more romance and interaction with the main characters and not so many offshoots ......

I really loved this story of the King of the Garouille, Rafael who is over 500 years old hears a voice that he realizes could be his mate but how could that be? Maya ,the Chief of Police, doesn't know why the mysterious Race Stone seems to be all she can think of. Now someone seems to be trying to kill her and he knows he must protect her at all cost. She just might be the secret to saving his people, if they can mate with humans (I've thirties years since the last baby was born). Add in that a few of the clan may a!so be having feeling towards different women as they meet them but how ? This is unheard of, no one seems to know if there has ever been mating with humans . While trying to save her he is shot more than once and so was another of the clan than she saw him wings and all, before he told her he wasn't human. What will she do as he must tell her everybody, what he is , who are like him that she already knows and trust (till now), what he and his clan of family and friends do and have for thousands of years BUT most importantly the mate bond that they both feel? Can she love him enough?

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone & rock solidly addicted!!!

Fantastic! What a rush! I have never read a book that had so many amazing parts to it! Its mysterious, it grabs you, pulls you in and puts its hooks in you and doesn’t let go! It is VERY entertaining with humor to lighten up the intensely hot & sexy Shifter men – in fact a WHOLE CLAN of smoking hot men to drool over! But the absolute best part - Gargoyle Shifters!!!! AWESOME! And loving them is not so “hard” lol I found this book to be so unique and fresh with a great depth to the story that made me feel like I was part of their family too!! I have to admit that while there were a lot of characters, it was so easy to love them! Well, the good ones only, of course! I did at first have a hard time remembering them all, but you soon realize that you don’t need to! Whenever there is interaction with a “different” member of the clan, Faith very subtly reminds you who they are and what there specialty is. I found that it worked well with the story and only helped to make the story even richer. I was completely blown away with the romance and of course the HOT sex! Thought that the whole concept of the mates and bonding was way too cool and just…WOW! I love the depth and multi-faceted story line(s) because you know that there is going to be, or rather I HOPE that there will be, many stories in this series. So many parts that were not solved, explained, expanded or where the surface was barely scratched. I can’t wait to see where Faith takes it! I love the complex story and how it unfolds, but I have a love/hate relationship with how things are explained or play out because you get some information now while not being inundated and overloaded/overwhelmed with EVERYTHING, but enough left out to tease you, get your mouth watering, fingers itching for the next chapter or book. Not all authors can successfully write a story of this scope, depth & calibre, I think that Faith not only does this, but she takes you on a very romantic, magical, beautiful and intense roller coaster ride that you will NOT want to end! I cannot wait to read book 2 – Gregor!!!! This is the first book of Faith’s that I have read, but boy do I have “faith” in her and her books especially if this one gives any indication to her style of writing, then I think it would be safe to say that ANY of her books would be fantastic!!!

This was an action-packed read, which offered something new and interesting. The entire story held my attention. The main characters, Rafael and Kaya were terrific, and the many secondary characters were equally as captivating. I can't wait to dive into the next installment of what looks to be an incrediblyly thrilling series.

Incredible fantasy paranormal romance - purely brilliant and addictive. It was not what I thought it would be but it completely hooked me in without hope of escaping. The characters are complex and the plot has you guessing the whole way through. The writing talent that faith has is extraordinary, a true gift. There are very few authors who can produce this level of intellectual composition. The pace is busy without being overwhelming. My only very light niggle which wasn't worth dropping a star for was my confusion occasionally between Dane and Dante. I don't repeat the blurb from a book but I will repeat read this read this read this!

After a look at the cover and the blurb I should have known better than to buy this book. It is excactly what you expect: hollow MCs, insta-love, stupid dialogues, loss of brain activities in the face of the soulmate, soulbonds (recognized by scent, though Rafael knows it after the first phone call), shallow story drowned in romance ...

So I feel kind of bad giving a bad review. If you like these stories, go for it. It is probably a bit like the vampire series from J.R. Ward: the romance is more important than a good story.
