About the author

Daniel de Lorne writes about men, monsters and magic.
In love with writing since he wrote a story about a talking tree at age six, his first novel, the romantic horror Beckoning Blood, was published in 2014. At the heart of every book is a romance between two men, whether they’re irresistible vampires, historical hotties, or professional paramours.
In his other life, Daniel is a professional writer and researcher in Perth, Australia, with a love of history and nature. All of which makes for great story fodder.
And when he’s not working, he and his husband explore as much of this amazing world as they can, from the ruins of Welsh abbeys to trekking famous routes and swimming with whales.
If you take your LGBT romance fiction with a supernatural, urban fantasy or contemporary flavor, Daniel de Lorne delivers. To get to the real heart of the matter, visit danieldelorne.com and sign up for his newsletter (you'll also get a free short story).

- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2021I picked up this book as I have an interest in Ragnar and other Vikings. Didn't catch the gay angle until the first sex scene. I am not gay but any variety of sex scenes are fun. The sex scenes in the book were dull, clumsy, brutal and few and far between. Not enough to carry the story (which basically made no sense at all). It was almost unrequited love without the love. Too many questions not developed. Why did he walk away from a fortune from the last raid? No romance. Just two big brutes wandering around trying to avoid each other or kill each other. Kind of a new twist on the Ragnars of the world.
I think the author needs to tighten his writing a bit as the potential is there. Maybe a little more attention to outlining his story to catch the gaps. I will read the next one to see if it is improved.

5.0 out of 5 stars The start of Ragnar and Absolom
Set way back in time before the Immortals of the apocalypse trilogy, it was a lot easier to be Darisami when there was no technology. Once Ragnar stops being Ragnar the Red, and reforms, he and Absolom deserve each other and a HEA. Not so great for the odd traveler or villager every month, but at least the Darisami don’t go rogue.
