Patrick worked in advertising with some of the most globally recognised agencies and brands. Prior to that he served in the military. With an enduring fascination for military history, and spurred on by two lockdowns, he took to writing stories.

His debut WW2 aviation thriller is called 'The Lightning and The Few,' and tells the story of Jox McNabb, a Scottish schoolboy who earns his wings in his country's hour of need.

The Jox McNabb series continues with 'The Raiders and the Cross' following Jox through the furnace of the Blitz and the siege of Malta. 'The Maple and the Blue' sees him involved with the tragic raid on Dieppe, before heading back to the Mediterranean.

The fourth book of the series, 'The Vulcan and the Straits' sees Jox and No. 111 Squadron involved in Operation Torch, the invasion of Vichy North Africa and then Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily. Book Five, 'the Wire and the Lines' covers the Invasion of Italy and is published in February 2025.

Patrick's first stand-alone novel was published in October 2024 and is a paranormal military thriller called 'The Brookwood Boys.' It tells the story of restless ghosts in a military cemetery and explores the tragic legacy of war on the living and the dead.

A further stand-alone novel about a main character's previous lives as different soldiers is expected for publication in 2025.

In the early 1940's the actions were primarily in the AIR or AT SEA. LAND BATTLES were limited by resources. North Africa was the early battle ground as both sides had difficulty supplying their forces by Air & Sea. Malta was essential to Britton in this effort to both supply their forces & make Germany/Italy attempts as difficult & expensive as possible.
These battles were desperate for continued survival. The people of England & Malta were both critical supporters & Victims whose heroic endurance is honored in the characters in the story. It is well told & an exciting read.

Even during the worst of the London Blitz, the German’s relentless aerial attacks on the rest of Britain continued unabated. RAF pilots who flew Hurricanes were retrained to fly the newest iteration of Spitfires, and for the first time to fly them at night.

Flight Lieutenant Jox McNabb and the other pilots from the Treble One squadron are among those cross-trained, and soon discover that trying to shoot down German bombers in almost total darkness is no easy task.

Matters come to a head when Jox is again injured, shortly after having to deal with personal tragedy. Now both physically and emotionally battered, he spends some time in a rehabilitation center before volunteering for a new and very risky mission, bringing Spitfires to defend Malta in the Mediterranean.

The trip is by sea, and the Med is particularly dangerous in 1942. It is almost completely under the control of the Germans and Italians, and Malta lies close the Sicily and the boot of fascist Italy. When Jox arrives, Malta has been undergoing daily attacks by the German and Italian air forces. His courage in Malta will win him yet another decoration; his bad luck will see him shot down yet again.

In addition to being a good writer, Mr. Larsimont also does excellent historical research, ensuring that this still-abbreviated series (Book 3 hasn’t come out as yet) is worth reading by anyone interested in World War II RAF history or fiction.

    Recommended.

    Highly recommend.
Jox McNabb continues to battle on. We are transported first to night fighter training back in Scotland, then to bombed London and espionage, this series takes the reader through a very dramatic set of twists and turns, but never stops thrilling the reader.

Story involving a flyer’s experience in Britain during WWII. Great descriptions of the circumstances suffered by the British population. Narrative regarding fighting action was exceptional. Characterization of the prime actors in this drama was well developed. I strongly recommend this is a great read.

An interesting read of fiction but probably close to that experienced by many young men who joined up to fight for freedom and their country and then experienced the horrors of war which would haunt them for the rest of their life

    A. Dry beautiful story . Took a long time to reach the end and leaves much to the imagination. Does Jox ever get back to his Melanie, or does he die in the sea off Gibraltar? He certainly left an heir….. but meet her here. Read the story! Very real. Very worth it…..

I forced myself to read through this drivel.
    Pathetic plot.
    Even worse character development
I took one for the team - save yourself from this.

This is a typical read of a pilot in WW2 but with a twist as it is the pilot that lives on despite a number of bailouts. His navigation must have been a little suspect when not flying because when travelling by train from Waverley station Edinburgh to Kings cross London you would never go through "Herefordshire" countryside but "HERTFORDSHIRE" .
