Redemption (Highland Brides of Skye Book 2) Kindle Edition
Over the years, many lasses have found refuge in the Scottish Highland’s Glenwood Abbey. But for three young ladies, sanctuary becomes servitude, with master puppeteer Malcom Donald using them in his plan to rule the Isle of Skye.
Redemption
For years, master thief Helena Donald has lived at Glenwood Abbey and submitted to Malcolm Donald’s bidding. Desperate to break free of his control, Helena agrees to steal the MacLeod Faire Flag for Malcolm for she intends to sell the flag and start a new life far from Malcom. When Helena is caught in a blizzard, she prefers to die in the cold wasteland rather than return to the abbey.
Kaden MacLeod has chosen a solitary life in a cabin on the shore of Loch Haven. But a woman’s scream during a raging snowstorm sends him racing to rescue Helena from the frigid waters of the frozen loch. When he learns that this beautiful young woman is about to commit the same crime for which his father, Laird MacLeod, hung Kaden’s younger brother, he’ll stop at nothing to prevent her from facing a similar fate.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2019These characters, Helena and Kaden were well portrayed and the circumstances of their meeting, his rescue if her from the ice, were believable. The story of her mission and as it related to Kaden brought tears to my eyes. Well done

- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2024A quick listen. Helena wanted her freedom and set out to do one last theft. She did not count on Kaden saving her, stealing her heart, and protecting her from his former clan. Instant connection and love helped this couple find their HEA without losing life or clan.
Narration by George Ellington was very entertaining as he worked his way through the many characters. He was a pleasure to listen to.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2018Second book of the series is set about a month or so after book one ended and we join another of Malcolm's "Sisterhood of the Sinister Order" but instead of being his top spy; who has now run off and married the enemy; he sends his top thief to steal their most treasured item, their Faery Flag said to have been given to the laird's newborn son generations ago by Queen Tatiana herself.
Helena might be a good thief but she is horrible at traveling in the winter and ends up falling through ice into the loch. There she's saved by Kaden, son of the former Laird who abdicated after his dad murdered the younger son by ordering him hung.
After she recovers for a few days in his croft (super tiny 1 room cottage), they've birth fallen in love yet neither admits it to themselves our each other. She ends up stealing the flag, he gets shot by an arrow though we never learn whose arrow it is. He tells her the flag is fake but they'll send it by messenger to Malcolm and then leave the whole area to be happy ever after.
Like book one, I'm left missing the drama, the angst, building of suspense and characters.... It's like a quickie. Not bad but not fully satisfying. Something you can squeeze in when time is limited. The authors are talented at these little Scottish quickies.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2018“Redemption” brings us another strong leader and another strong woman. The same question arises: is the beautiful woman lost in the woods a friend or a foe of the MacLeods?
Kaden MacLeod has chosen a life of solitary in the depths of the wood, until one day when he saves Helena Donald’s life. I loved how the author put in balance Kaden’s life before and after his visitor and how his wisdom is put to test when deciding how to act when realizing Helena’s plan. In a way, they help each other and complement one another.
Same as in book 1, we have a lot of action and great characters. But out of all 3 books in the series, this one feels the most incomplete. I wanted to see what happens with the stolen flag and even the clan’s reaction when discovering the deed. But, I cannot give less than 4 stars, as it kept me right there with every page. And let’s not forget the well-adjusted pace to the short length. Loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2019We when we meet Helena, she is a desperate woman on a mission. Losing her bearings she finds herself plunging into the depths of a frozen loch, only to be rescued by Kaden. In a little while she learns to trust Kaden, but not before doing something quite risky, placing her life in jeopardy. Interesting short story
