Nathen, the new autistic vampire, Cameron, a telepathic mage, and Syn, a hacker genius, are back in the second book of the Darklight series. Rescue focusses on the rescue of the friend of a friend. This friend has some serious tech skills and, if they help him, he will help them. Some unusual individuals are introduced and you are left with the feeling we shall see more of them. The rescue went well with some of those unusual individuals helping. We also learn more about Nathen and Cameron, just as they learn more about each other. You cannot help but enjoy their dates as well as Cameron’s reaction to Nathen’s blood. All in all, this was a great addition to the series but be sure you read them in order. It will be better that way.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The characters, the plot, the tension, the emotions, and so much danger!

    This book has everything.
You must read 'Awakening', the first book in this series, before this.
Then I recommend you set aside the rest of your life long enough to move on to the 3rd, 'Entwined', because there is a deliberate cliff hanger!

Vampires and mages, evil (?) corporations, dark magic, futuristic technology, kidnappings, death and violence are ahead of you! Beware of everything except love and friendship.

    An amazing series.
Plan to enjoy every hour you spend with Syn, Nathen and Cam.
    You'll be thrilled with it.

Thanks to GRR for this ARC.

This book started me off confused because of how quickly the events of the end of the first book were just swept under the rug like they never occurred. I remained confused throughout it, but that is probably a me issue.

There are aspects of this book that I genuinely enjoyed. Cameron purposely getting drunk so Nathan can get drunk with him, the hilarity of the hired guns’ and tech friend’s reactions to the trio (particularly the “lust duo” as I now call the boyfriends), and how unrealistic a lot of this stuff feels even for the universe. I tried to suspend my disbelief but I also have autism sooo…lol.

I received a copy of it from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review. A bit shorter than I typically leave, but completely true nonetheless. Anyhoo, 3.75 stars. I am very happy autism was referred to correctly throughout this book (instead of the wrong “a word”) so that’s something.

Rescue is the second book in the Darklight series. This series should be read in order. We're back with Nathen a new autistic vampire and Cameron a telepathic mage. Syn the hacker cyber genius is back also. In this book the three are trying to find and rescue a kidnapped friend. We learn more about Cameron's past and the corporation that created Nathen. This was a great book that I truly enjoyed. Just so you know it does end on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

This series is so good. Rescue is an absolutely brilliant addition to Nathen and Cameron's journey. They and their friends took me on an entertaining espionage filled ride and I enjoyed every minute. I can't wait to dive into book three.

We pick up after book one where Syn, Nathen and Cam were successful in ending the cyberattack against the children’s hospital. During that assignment they did learn a few things i.e. there are two companies Paradigm and the company Nathen works for Impetus.

They are creating monsters and Nathen knows that if he goes against the company his life will be over.

During that assignment they came upon a piece of tech that would require a technomage to figure out. They go to Thom, a mage that helped during the cyberattack at the hospital and he is willing to help for a price. Someone close to him has been kidnapped and he wants Syn, Nathen and Cam to find her and bring her home.

Syn is friends with the missing woman, Kat, as well as Thom from one of her hacker groups but never met them in person. The difficult part is to find who took her and it would require a lot of research. In the meantime, Cam reveals his past to Nathen, the death of his mother at the hands of a fae, in addition to sharing some of the monsters he dealt with in his past, a pedophile, a man who drugged and forced a young woman to be a sex slave and a priest who was less than godly.

Cam was sure that when Nathen discovered what he had done he would leave him but that was not the case, Nathen stuck by him. Now to rescue Kat and find out more information about the two companies creating cybernetic vampires. As many vampires as they create, they kill, any who do not follow the rules are exterminated even more reason that Nathen must appear to be a loyal employee.

Nathen and Cam’s relationship grows, and Cam has become addicted to Nathen’s kisses since his saliva is an aphrodisiac, but he is also addicted to Nathen’s bites. With Cam’s power of reaching people’s minds and ordering them to do what he wants a bedroom is not necessary for them to have sex, Cam manages to empty a room and bring people’s minds to anything other than what they are doing.

When they discover that they are both infiltrated with nanites capable of receiving and sending information to Impetus they try to mind read rather than speak out loud. It is like Big Brother watching every move they make.

When Kat is discovered, they realize they will need help, so they hire two mercenaries, Sefu and Gryphon and the rescue is ready to proceed. I won’t reveal anything more in this review since it is something you must read for yourself, and what a read it is.

This is a series that must be read in order since each book ends with a cliffhanger, not the kind of cliffhanger that would make you want to throw the book out the window but enough to let you know the story is not finished.

Explicit sex, violence, secrets, lies, romance, suspense, torture and sexual assault.
