Meanwhile, Gabriel feels more and more that he is a burden on his new pack.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2017Just a note that this is sort of an ensemble cast. Each books follows more than one couple. So you need to read in order for best effect. At first I was not sure how I was going to like it but, with this second book, it is cemented as a unique way to tell the story. It's like getting a panoramic view of what is happening and so, even though it is a romance with romances in it, there is this almost screenplay or tv series feel. I'm really enjoying it - and I cannot wait for book three!
I met the author at GayRomLit and she was so nice!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2021Felt kind of cheated that we didn’t get a front row seat to Ian telling Grey about the subterfuge he and Gabriel perpetrated. Personally, I don’t know if I would ever be able to trust Ian again. I guess I was hoping there was a little more drama surrounding the big reveal. After all, the current heir (if he presents as an alpha) to the pack may not be of the bloodline. That would be a big deal. A really big deal. Also, don’t know why Roanon is set on keeping best friends apart just because his son is an omega and Grant is an alpha. They’re a year apart. Fail to see how it would matter. Meanwhile, he claims someone barely older than his son.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2020This was a hard one for me for a few reasons. I felt Gabriel’s pain so much in this one, especially at the end. Because I knew that feeling all too well myself. But it’s been hard in other ways too and good in a lot of ways. It’s been a heck of a ride. Times are changing, some good, some bad. And hopefully, book 3 will let us know how good or bad things are going to be.
As with the other book, this one is told from several different viewpoints. And I love that. I love to see what others are thinking and what their opinions are. Some are good, some not so good, and some in between. But the truth is, things are changing. Xavier has finally discovered why he is so protective of Chris, but messes things up a lot. Canaan realizes there’s a side to him he didn’t really know about until getting ‘to know’ Duncan. More omegas are having babies, some older children are discovering who and what they are. But worse, the secret of what Ian and Gabe did is about to come out and it’s about to lead to some trouble. Gabe is already having trouble again with this pregnancy. Worse than with little Finny. But all the stress is making things even harder and between it and Gabe’s hormones, it’s finally reached a breaking point. And now, Ian and Grey and a few others have to find Gabe and work it out before he or the baby could die. Thankfully, another omega helped them in time. But will everything be ok after or will it be too much?
Whoo. This pack has been through some drama in this one. And right now, I don’t know who I feel worse for. Gabe for what he’s about to have to endure. Chris for what he has endured and now feels like. And so on. There’s been some good developments. Vincent has finally settled in with his mates, Canaan has found what he needs, the other omegas seem to be flourishing with their mates. And a widowed wolf has found love again. But it’s still traumatic in some things. Werewolves have been raised to believe certain things about themselves and those around them. Some haven’t had that benefit, because of bad parents or the loss of them. So some of the shifters feel out of place. Some are just butts that need to be smacked, I think anyway, but hey, if that’s what someone else needs, then more power to them. I just know that at the end of this, a lot of things have come about from throughout this story and some things are not quite a happy ending. And I’m hoping with book 3, we will see a happier pack. This pack seems to thrive so well and I hope it continues to do so. They’ve worked so hard to get to where they are.
One heck of a book. Can’t wait to dig into book 3 and see how this ends up. So many loose ends in this one. It’s not a cliffhanger, per se, but there’s a lot more to these stories that need to be told.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2018Cheese and Rice! Rebecca James just wants to mess with my emotions! This book is soooo good! I love a good angsty book. Xavier from the River Wolf Pack series is featured as one POV and you feel his heartache but then you have some new faces like Christopher, oh the longing this guy goes through, and let’s not forget my favorite Triad Gabriel, Grey and Ian, the author really pulled my heartstrings on this Triad, I mean c’mon! Gabriel’s pain at the end, Rebecca James you better make this right in the next book, please make it right, poor Gabriel.
Another great book in the series and a definite must read, can’t wait for the next one!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021I enjoyed the way the author titled each chapter for the various characters. It helped to define the purpose each one played in the book without overlapping into a new book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2020The story continues of these new pack mates. I loved the new characters and also the continuing story of the older ones. I had trouble laying this one down. I read an ARC of this book, with no obligation for a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2020This is the second book in the Angel Hills series, and the story is written much like the first. A lot of story lines going on at once, with more focus placed on a few.
The book is entertaining enough that it isn't a struggle to read, but as with the first in this series, the development of the relationships are spread too thin. The common thread between the two books is the focus on the triad of the pack alpha and his beta and omega mates. I hate to say this, but I was happy the conflict in the book centered mainly around them. It felt like karma.
I was also glad to see Vincent's relationship change and grow. There was a decent amount of focus on their triad as well. However, the author then introduced three more couples, which is what stretched the story too much IMO.
I think I could have enjoyed where the author was going with the new pairings, especially Duncan and Canaan, but again, there was no depth and very little development. I'm sure at least two of the three will be followed up in the next book; i just don't enjoy the overabundance of story lines.
I did enjoy this book more than Omega Arrival, but I think a lot of the reason behind that is because I was happy that what really bothered me about book one came back to bite them. Also, readers should remember that while this pack is enlightened in some ways, it is mostly a "traditional" pack in many ways.
* I received a free copy of this book and I am leaving my honest opinion. *

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good read in the Angel Hills pack series
Another good read in the Angel Hills pack series! I'm really getting into this series. I love the main omega characters, particularly Gabriel, who thankfully features very prominently in both books available so far. I find his complex relationship with his alpha and beta mate, and his self-esteem issues and lack of confidence creates a fascinating, continually changing love/life situation that I somehow find myself really drawn into. I relate to him more than any other character here, and without giving anything away, I'll just say that the circumstances he finds himself in by the end of this book really made me feel for him, and I'm impatiently waiting to read more about his situation in future books.
