The New York Timesbestselling author of the Second Chance Cat Mystery series offers another adventure with secondhand shop owner Sarah Grayson and Elvis the rescue cat.

Spring has come to charming North Harbor, Maine, and with the new season comes a new haul for Second Chance, the shop where Sarah Grayson sells lovingly refurbished and repurposed items. Sarah is turning her keen eye to the estate of collector Edison Hall, hoping for fabulous finds for Second Chance—but when her rescue cat Elvis discovers a body in the kitchen, everything goes paws up.

The body belongs to an appraiser who had been hired to check out Edison’s wine collection. When Edison’s sister shows up at Second Chance, she hires Sarah’s friends—the kooky and charismatic trio of ladies who call themselves Charlotte’s Angels and work out of the shop—to solve the murder, Sarah knows she and Elvis are only going to get deeper into the case. But as it becomes a cat and mouse game of lies, cons, cheats, and family squabbles, can Elvis and Sarah claw their way to the truth before the killer slinks away forever?

Do you have a family?

Yes. I’m married with one daughter. We live on the east coast less than two hours drive from the ocean. I like living somewhere with all four seasons, although there are times in the middle of January that living on a Caribbean island starts to sound like fun.

What’s your education?

I have a degree in Biology as well as an Education degree.

Do you ever use that education in your writing?

All the time. I honed my research skills working on my Biology degree. My Statistics professor really emphasized asking lots of questions about any piece of information. And I had a Molecular Biology prof who believed we learn more from our mistakes than our successes—which was good because my lab partner had a habit of setting our experiments on fire.

What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject was math, followed by science classes. I like the order and logic of math. I still read Scientific American just for fun.

Do you have any hobbies/interests? Do any of those hobbies inspire your writing?

I run. I don't really like the actual running part, but I love the feeling of having accomplished several kilometers before it's even 8AM. I also like setting a goal of running a certain distance in a certain amount of time. I’m not a graceful runner—or a fast one—but I am persistent. My main character in the Second Chance Cat mysteries, Sarah, is a runner.

I like to hike and take photos of things I see. More and more the photos are becoming mixed media art. I’ve been turning the images into collage with fabric and paper.

Besides writing, what was your favorite or most interesting job in your past?

I was once an all night disk jockey. Even though I’m a morning person, I liked the job. Before I started, I had no idea there was a whole sub-culture of people who worked the night shift—not just the obvious, like police officers and nurses. I met artists and musicians who liked working all night and sleeping when the rest of us are awake.

Are you a "cat person"?

Very much so. I love cats. I like their independent spirit. I don't have one because my husband is extremely allergic to them. (If he dies first I'm getting a cat. People laugh when I say that because they think I'm kidding.) Even though I don’t have a cat myself, I do have “cat friends”—cats in my neighborhood that I spend time with so I can get my kitty fix.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's the first I've read in the series, and now I can't wait to read the first two! Great cast of characters that are vividly written. It was so good I couldn't put it down to start writing my term paper! Great plot and lots of twists and turns. Some of the changes between scenes and locations made the reading a bit choppy, but that could be part of the writer's style for this series. Even with that one negative I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to read more of this fun and clever series!

**I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. I had already pre-ordered the Kindle edition before being asked to review this book.

I absolutely love the series! I cannot wait until the next and pre-paid for it. I have to wait until 2021 though. These books were on my mind during the day and it was hard to put down when I was reading them. I love the Angels and how they have out witted Nick. I love Matt and can't wait to see if they become a couple. And I cannot forget Elvis-what a great cat! So smart! I have a cat and she listens to me too, so I know they are smart! I love all the characters!

Three older women and an older gentleman who comprise the private detective agency called "Charlotte's Angels", a play on the old Charlie's Angel's series. They work for Sarah at her repurposing business and Sarah usually ends up working to help them solve the latest murder. Alfred is a computer wizard and proves that it would be a mistake to judge him to be just another old man who's only good for sitting in his recliner, napping in front of the TV. Charlotte, Liz and Rose were, and still are, successful, intelligent and capable women who would rather solve mysteries than knit or do the things elderly women are supposed to do. Sarah is the younger woman who is expected to keep the old folks "under control" and out of danger. The story is good . At times I find the banter to be just a little too cutesy. Actually, some of the best conversations are between Sarah and Elvis, the cat. Overall, I liked the book, although I prefer to read mysteries that skip the romance; this series has romance, unfortunately, and the male romantic interest seems to be a stick in the mud who likes to get mad at the elderly detectives and Sarah quite often. If Sarah wanted a man in her life, she'd be better off with Mac, her employee and friend. He's not all judgemental and controlling. I'll probably read another book in this series.

I like reading cozy mysteries that feature a cat and I have most of them. The second chance mysteries, Elvis is the cat. He is able to tell when a person is lying and communicate his reaction to Sarah Grayson, his human. This is the third book in the series and did not disappoint. Sarah Second Chance store has agreed to clear out a hoarder home. The morning the Sarah and her crew arrive at the house, there is a smell of something dead. Elvis leads the way to the kitchen. There is a murdered man lying in the middle of the floor. We learned the seniors are going to investigate and are now calling themselves Charlotte's Angels and are now a licensed PI firm. Elvis finds hidden treasures in the house. The wines thought to be valuable turned out to be faked. Rose and Mr. P. feel the fake wines are the reason for the murder. The police disagree. I highly recommend this book for cat lovers and for a relaxing read.

Sarah Grayson loves living in North Harbor, Maine. She has her shop, Second Chance, where she sells items that have been refurbished. She knows that she can count on her friends. Currently she will be emptying the house of Edison Hall. If she's lucky, she might find some items for her shop. What she doesn't expect is for Elvis, her cat, to find a body. Now Charlotte's Angels will have to find the killer? What happens next is an exciting adventure. Sarah is a lovely, caring person who has her hands full trying to keep her quirky friends out of trouble. This group of seniors have the cunning and intelligence needed to find the truth. I like that they weren't portrayed as helpless. Elvis is one smart kitty. He can nose out clues while charming everyone for treats. I chuckled at his antics. This story is well plotted and filled with colorful characters. A Whisker of Trouble keep me guessing until the very end. I didn't know who the murderer was. Sofie Ryan kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't stop reading until I know who the culprit was.

What a delightful story.... I was ready to read something other than murder, blood and gore... And such a story... Do you like to take something and make it something else.... well so does Sarah and has a great little shop with helpers, her grandmothers friends and now her as well. Mac helps out, and there is a cute romance going on... Guess who... the older generation, the younger? Got to read to find out. And Elvis Lives!! In the form of a cat, that is able to assist everyone to do something. and Mr. P... What a character. Follow this story as she picks things off the side of the road ( well sometimes) and purchases items from the trash pickers and makes repurposed items that seem to keep selling!! And then her friends all have adventures... Just because you are old, does not mean you sit in a rocking chair and let the world go by... Not with these seniors.... and what trouble they almost get into. Sarah is trying to keep them safe and doing "normal" things.... but not this group. A must read, great for sitting on the beach, on your porch during the summer!
